My mother, who was born in 1915 had suit cases like your green ones, hers were blue, and she had a large case that had hangers in it. It was very heavy. It opened and you hung your clothes on both sides. The Captains Quarters is quite awesome. Ara you are a doll house genius. All your details are wonderful. Everything you design is top notch. Thank you for sharing. 🩷😺🩷

Maybe the crows nest has been repurposed as a small elevator or some kind of hovering repair platform to allow access to hard to reach spots within the ship? It could have little booster type things on the bottom and a shiny silver control panel inside? 😊

I Really Love that crow's nest!!! I can imagine it being full kid size in a tree as part of a tree house! Perhaps the entry point with a rope ladder & a rope bridge to get to the main house part. This might possibly be almost all built with the same materials you used except for the floor & coat it in weather resistant polyurethane or something. Amazing Craftsmanship!!!❤

The dressing room looks so much more interesting now! It's so exciting to see everything lit up nd the trusses in place. 🤩 I love how you made the utility panel in the back into a feature instead of hiding it all away. Very smart and spaceship-y! 😎 The supports for the plastic canvas grating blend right in and are very practical. The crow's nest is looking great, too. This was more than a project video, it was def a class on electrical lighting. I for one, am very glad you and Mr. Electrical have shared that part of the project, I had no idea that the fairy lights could burn out so intensly like that..I seriously took note of that. I feel like that was super important, because I only just started exploring with lighting, if I had got so far consumed with using fairy lights for all my lighting projects, and something like that were to happen it looks like it could be devastating, so thank you very much for sharing that. I don't think using fairy lights would be a good idea if you plan on using the lights for long periods of time or consistently. The Captains Quarters really came together for me in this video. Maybe it was when you said how you are melting the two types of ships together😂 I have a better understanding of the project now. I love the wall display it looks like a museum. It's really beautiful, honestly.. all the esthetics are!🥰 And I was wondering how you felt about the crows nest, I love how it turned out especially when you aged the twine, It truly felt like part of an old ship, I can't wait to see how you make the head, I was excited to hear you wanted to include it. That's def a signature piece of an old century ship. This was awesome, my friend!😍💖

You got so much done in this video. Wow! I love that crows nest and your idea of using it as an elevator is genius. It makes sense that it would be something that can tuck into the ship because if it were permanently affixed outside it could be ruined by a meteor shower or something. I imagine the captain only displays it outside her ship when she’s docked safely at a port where she can proudly display how unique her ship is. I imagine other space ships in the universe are unique in other unimaginable ways too, so captains display their ships sort of like the scene in any Fast and Furious movie where all the supped up cars all lined up and the crowd of people are just walking around admiring them. (I know nothing about cars so pardon if my terminology is incorrect 😂) Anyway, I’m thoroughly enjoying the progress on this project.
@BentleyHouseMinis

Thank you!! I still don't know how I am going to attach it but I do like the idea that it can go up higher and higher to look out of the ship. Love the idea of the Captain parking her ship somewhere so people could take a look at it! What an awesome visual! Too fun!

Wow. The lights are fantasic. Love the additions to the changing area.I want the crow's nest above the 17th century part, front and center but love the idea of an elevator. SO very cool! I like how you did this all, right down to organizing what steps to take to keep you on track. I've watched you for a long time and I still can't get over how very talented you are. In regards to the crow's nest- it is quite the piece. It is looking good and aged. When you floated the idea of making it an elevator, my mind went right to my sisters Barbie dream house. She had the one with 3 floors and a porch on the roof, complete with veranda. This particular house had an elevator that I think you could use inspiration for. It was a pink cage that the doll could fit into (one at a time, no twosies) and it was a simple design, but a pain to rig the pully. I remember it broke, so we tied yarn from the top of the cage and had to manually pull the Barbies up to each floor. Hey, we used our imagination to pretend it was not us pulling the strings (haha) but it worked. I think for your project, the nest is already a 'cage', so there just needs to be plates or metal sheeting where it will connect to the corners, sort of like in a skyscraper. I have no real experience at miniaturing, but I hope it makes sense what I said. I also hope this helps even a little bit. Love you to bits, Ara!❤
@BentleyHouseMinis
@BentleyHouseMinis 9 месяцев назад
We totally had that house too!! And I do remember the elevator breaking at one point and I am not sure if we were able to repair it. Oh I think the elevator crowsnest is brilliant. Maybe using a pulley system? I think, if there were concentric circles layered above and below (copper?) The dowel hole, that then had small holes around the outermost of that inner circle stack (so maybe 1/2 cm ish away from the dowel?) that had wires running through... the wires being attached to the top and bottom of the dowel... it might work. I would also set up actual pulleys and "ropes" in a few places attached to the outside of the 'basket' that had pulley wheels at the top and bottom of the ship structure to keep it level and add to the aesthetic.

I love the suitcases! They look mid-century to me. The Captain, being a time traveler, would have definitely pick up some mid-century items along the way. It's a perfect blend of the two ships IMO ❤

I love all your projects and follow all of them, always looking forward to Fridays 😊 I think the elevator idea is really cool ... how about encasing the crow's nest in a "glass" tube to simulate a glass elevator of sorts? With lots of wires or cables or hydraulics that you can see through it? The open side could swivel around depending on what side the exit needs to be (lower level or upper deck etc.)

@@BentleyHouseMinis As a fellow-artistic person, ideas NEVER RUN out of our heads its just that I feel that as we mature and get better with our craft, we become picky of which of these ideas we actually can do. I best keep my eye peeled for updates. 😊 Oh, since Halloween is just around the corner, wouldn't it be nice to have a book nook project about hippocampuses? Just a thought after watching Percy Jackson. 😁✌

Idea for the crows nest. I want to say star cartography but I'm not entirely sure this is the correct terminology. What do you call charting or plotting stars while in space for navigation in space? Is there such a thing? I've always imagined being on a starship and there being a room that's dark with either windows or screens that were showing the stars for mapping and navigation. I'd sit in that room and just watch the stars move (well technically you are moving not them). A planetarium in space! With the stars all around. I'm not making any sense.

I don't remember if it was ever mentioned but what is above the Captain's Quarters? I dimly remember some sort of map? If the crows nest was an elevator it maybe could go further up to a little stargazing dome in the hull of the spaceship. You wouldn't have to build it but maybe make it look like the elevator goes up further.

8:55 So I've been looking a LOT into powering LEDs lately to prevent just that. A common tip I see is to use wall port to USB converter that you use for phones. That has a very low amp which may help. I don't know the specs of fairy lights but it's likely 3 amps since it's powered by 2 AAs, which fun fact are 1.5 amps each. The project I'm doing is a 10' in diameter UFO for halloween. I'm using it as an excuse to learn more about LEDs since electronics is easily the maker aspect I know the least about

I think Stormy was just wondering why you had not FINISHED yet! 😛 But seriously, with all the lights and everything the Quarters is really coming together. I am really looking forward to the light shining through the stained glass window inside the office/living quarters. The beautiful windows you made in the first video of yours I even watched! (I might have said that a few times too many by now, sorry for repeating myself... :-P ) The crows nest as an elevator is a good idea, I think. In my head I sort of saw a glass blister outside on the space-ship part where the Captain could go up and stare into space, or look out for space-rocks! Re-purpose of its original function sort of thing. But an inside elevator behind the scenes sort of things is probably a better idea, and actually manageble! 😉 Careful not to stress too much even when you have a final deadline. I mean, try and have it DONE and all that, but burn outs or worse is not good either. Just have FUN! See you in the next one. 😀

And thank you for staying and supporting me for so long and now you get to see them finally lit up😊 I get frustrated comments every now and then on how slow I am at finishing projects, but the comments like yours that say they are excited to see something come together after all the years of work make it all worth it! I appreciate it more than you know!

@@BentleyHouseMinis Hey, I enjoy people taking their time to do things properly. In the world today I don't think people know the words "slow and steady". :-P On my own channel I still get some comments about me taking forever to get to the point in some of my vids. While I CAN agree to a degree, sometimes people have to learn to just slow down a bit, you know? Oh well... 😉

Yes deadlines help me so much! When someone else is waiting on me, I tend to work a little bit fast than when it is a self-imposed deadline. The Captain was made by another artist and I was so glad I gave her creative control over who she was. I just couldn't picture the Captain until she showed up and started writing her own story ;) Thank you!
