Good move on continuing development and not letting procedural gen stop you. That is definitely an issue that a lot of developers bikeshed. Hollow Knight devs originally wanted to make the game entirely procedural but decided it would take up so much time and add little value. Ultimately, Hollow Knight is a massive success with a single and hand-designed map. I think the rule of thumb is that if procedural gen will work in a game is if you can first hand-design maps that are fun to play. Once you know how to design a good map, you can teach the computer how to do it for you. I'm interested to see more of this game!
Haha yes! I realized that procgencisn't really going to add to the core gameplay (especially coming from someone with no experience in procgen). I haven't even begun to touch level design (let alone building assets lol) so we'll see how that plays out. As of right now, I'm actually taking a break from this game and am working on a horror game with a much smaller scope, but I haven't abandoned the main project lol. I really appreciate the kind words and I hope you enjoy the future content!
@@Wannabuh Actually yep, I just watched your latest video. The horror project looks really interesting! Definitely do keep exploring development for that game.
