Dull coat will not leave it shiny. You can also spray this in between layers of weathering. You need a smaller putty knife. Remember, spackling paste works better in thin layers. Or just let it dry for 2-3 days. Looks really good! Were you replacing the track on the curve over the road? You can spread that spackling paste over the tracks. Just remember to clean out the wheel flangeways or smooth operations.
I'm N scale, I just did 2 parking lots like this in the last week, and just painted them grey today. I used drywall compound and since they were just lots, I didn't use the tape like you did, but pretty much the same result. I have a couple more to do, along with some roads. Turns out fairly well.
I don’t usually use cork since there’s so much track and it’s a little easier to work with when you don’t have all your industries with the raised track. I would use cork roadbed if I had a long stretch of mainline which I might have on the new sections someday
Nicely done, looking good. That weathering job was really good for a first time. Great job! ... Though I agree on the not so Matt finish. But oh well, looks great anyway. Always show the mistakes, so others learn.
This is awesome! After seeing your layout come together I want to create a yard for operations to be done on my layout! Looking forward to the next video!
@@TopRailroad your welcome. I made a Christmas vacation boxcar in ho scale. The athearn 40' undecorated boxcar. What I do is use a gray primer spray paint then I let it dry for a couple of days before I pair it the colors I want. I'll have to take a picture of it. And send the picture to you.
Good video! I learned a few techniques, particularly about the tape and the material used for the roadway. 👍 I am a bit curious as to why you laid in the short road without leaving a "slot" for the future track ..... you outlined that future track, I would have thought you would have laid tape along the outline. AS I said, just curious. 😎
@@TopRailroad I did! Thanks! Hoping to go to a local train show next weekend to pick up some important things to help me move to the next step of my layout. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out in your next videos!
To make things a little easier I took it out cause that piece was temporary, looking back I probably could’ve done it but I’ll cover that in the next video
Great video mate. Awesome progress on the layout. Nice weathering on the hopper wagon too. Hope you had a great Christmas and have a happy new year. - Nicholas.
Good job in the HO scale layout. Ballasting the tracks and switch. Where is you 🐱 Binx ?. My dog Scooby Doo bited the tail to you 🐱 Binx. Scooby Dum barked to you 🐱 Binx. You 😼 with Scooby Doo and Scooby Dum.
Wow, layout is really coming along, I started working on my again and I'm working on finishing the yard. But your layout is seriously good and has a good mainline!
@@TopRailroad Thanks! I've actually started to build a layout. I was hesitant at first, found your channel and I watched your older layouts. That really gave me a good boost to do this. Thank you!
Great video, I like your style of video making and have followed your videos from the beginning. What did you do with all the buildings from your previous videos?
Loving how you do your vid presentation. What are you using for voiceover audio recording? Just record in a quiet room? Cleanup with a program? I can do the timeline editing with audio to video, but I want to learn how to do it this well.
Thank you! I use Audacity to record my voice over (it’s great and it’s free) and I do it in the other room. I then upload that recording to my already pre edited video on Adobe premiere. Then it’s a matter of cutting it all together and adding the bells and whistles. It does take a long time to get done especially with videos this long
merry christmas!! love the addition of the nutcracker music at the end. very christmassy touch. and btw WHY DIDNT YOU REPLACE THE TRACK AT THAT RAILROAD CROSSING!?!?
Hello TR, cool scene, but I would continue to run the track on the right side parallel to the edge of the plate, then you would have longer sidings. Still, it looks really good!
I'm just a couple of minutes into your video. You noted you were really happy with those trucks, but at 2:09 it appears that the red truck is missing one headlight, on its right side (our left).
I need an opinion. I am building a train table and using foam board. The foamboard has a plastic sheeting/coating that has come loose on a couple of the corners, should I remove the film sheeting from the board before painting it?
Thanks TR, I haven't started to build on it yet, so stripping it of will be simple. After watching many of your build vid's, I trust your opinion.@@TopRailroad
@@TopRailroadIt's one of 600 built new for the Genesee & Wyoming in 2000-2001 by Trinity to handle increased salt traffic from the then almost new Hampton Corners mine and also to replace their aging fleet of hoppers. Loaded about 20 miles from my house.
Do you know where I could get dirt like that? I live overseas so I can’t import it and the color and consistency of my local dirt doesn’t work for where I’m modelling
If you can’t import anything I would try to look everywhere you can in your area. There could be some dirt like mine in very specific spots. You can always try digging down further in area where grass is to see if you can find some! Best of luck
Good job in the layout. Where is you black 🐱 ? My dog Scooby Doo barked to you 🐱. 😼, Scooby bited the tail. Scooby Doo is a giant dog. Great Dane brown with black spots.
@@TopRailroad Yes. Is my dog. I loved Scooby Doo where are you ? 1969 and 1970, The Scooby Doo Show 1976 and 1978. Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo, ( train with autoracks tri-nivel and bi-nivel.) I have HBOmax and see Scooby Doo with my N scale trains.
