got stars in my eyes and they don't fade away when you come my way baby Download Astronomical: modrinth.com/mod/astronomical massive thanks to Arathain, Luxintrus, AmyMialee, Diansu, Merp and Bonfire for their help on this project!
Correction: The marshmallow roasting meter does not show up when you’re in survival mode. This is intentional so that getting perfectly roasted marshmallows a bit trickier.
Be proud of yourself, Rat. Your mod made some people(me) play Outer Wilds and this expirience made me insane and full of emotions(I have astrophobia, but even if I was in fear, game was interesting and I enjoyed exploring space)
I love it when people play around with their hobbies, it makes it fun, and fun makes quality. These kinds of additions also seem great for making a fun minigame too! As a Side Thought, why don't you make it so the perfectly roasted marshmallow allows you to see the location of fallen stars on a map, making them appear as 3D beacon beams shooting off the map page where they land and have a stary/galaxy overlay over the player's eyes which they can see in 3rd person or others can see.
I don't really play minecraft, mostly just terraria and mario games, a theme song like a mario super star theme for the star roasted marshmellows would be interesting I think
1 minute in, I was like "hey, those look like the ash twins. And that almost certainly is Brittle Hollow and its volcano moon too, and Giants Deep, and Tinder Hearth, which means the blue pluto has to be the interloper? Or am I just seeing things?" 2 minutes in, you are roasting a marshmallow and my self-gaslighting has been resolved.
a perfected roasted marshmallow could make shooting stars drop stellar crystals, which you can use to craft stellar arrows, which can be used in a bow. these arrows would be faster than normal arrows and would have the same visual effects as the shooting stars but on a smaller scale. these arrows would also give the player you hit them with an effect called "Weightlessness", decreasing gravity for them, which would make them fall slower and therefore be way easier to hit.
I absolutely love this idea! Maybe different colours are different speeds! I have a suggestion for Weightlessness though since slowfall arrows exist in the game: it applies the glowing effect then levitates and freezes mobs and players midair, making them easier to shoot.
@@leyalaatasto9096 that's such an amazing idea! I completely forgot that slow-falling arrows existed while making this comment. I also love the idea of different colors meaning different speeds.
Maybe have them either increase or decrease gravity depending on star color. Like some colors increase the gravity for the target making it harded to move while also increasing fall damage.
This video was the breaking point for me to finally play and finish Outer Wilds, a game that was already on my list but i was being lazy I was not disappointed. Man, what a game
I think Stargazer III could grant you extra drops from the fallen stars, maybe one or two extra astral fragments, it seems fair given the difficult timing
I've never played Outer Wilds before, nor did I think I'd be interested in a mod like this, and yet you manage to make something that I am seriously considering adding to my next Minecraft playthrough. I do not exaggerate when I say you are one of my favourite and one of the best modders for this game that I have ever seen, your Impaled mod is how I found you and it's only been uphill from there.
good LORD!!! as a huge Outer Wilds fan i am repeatedly astonished by your ability to so naturally gush about the game while also be so coy about what it actually is about it. it is hard to incite interest in the game without spoiling anything but you make it look easy, all while embodying the 'do not spoil anything' mentality of it's fans. and that is not even mentioning how great of a mod this is on its own! I have been a fan of moded Minecraft for may years, and there are few if any modders out there that put so much care and effort into their mods as you. you consistently bring unique, interesting, and just generally unexpectedly awesome content to this community. the fact that the Marshmallow effect not only last specifically till sunrise but also display as such in the effect bar is the sort of idea that can show other modders what can be possible. Love your content, the universe is and we are ;;)
[OUTER WILDS SPOILER] Idea for Perfectly Roasted Marshmellow If you have Stargazing 3 and an eye of the universe displaying in an Astral Display you will start hearing the multi-layered theme song, as you get closer, more instruments are added, you know like it starts with the whistling, then flute etc etc then ends with the mask Another good adition to the mod would be having a small chance to get a Nomai or Hearthian plushie. Also also, I know its not that kind of mod, but... you know... random pockets of ghost matter around the world? Maybe a chance for them to spawn in amethyst geode minibomes? Would be evil
I’m scared he’s gonna add Ashwag’s mod suggestion of planetary destruction to content SMP Also, maybe if you eat a perfectly roasted marshmallow, you get more astral particles when you break the stars?
No what if they actively try to kill the player? as in when you trigger one it will 100% try to go to your location (and maybe damage you for say 20 damage or so)
@@chipthekelmayisaurus7115 to make it even more funny put in the config the ability to increase the chance of getting hit by a falling star when you eat a burnt marshmallow
I think a good idea for the perfectly roasted marshmallow is to show constellation shapes made with the new stars. It would add to the stargazing aspects.
As an absolute megafan of Outer Wilds. This is genuinely amazing! and i love how you've given some good twists to it to make it fall into a progression based minecraft mod. So very cool! Also those little containers looks suspiciously like something i've seen in the high energy lab somewhere....
The MOMENT I saw the two planets connected in the intro I said "Huh, awfully looks like the hourglass twins" and when he said "Yes, this is an outer wilds reference" my inner Outer Wilds fan burst into excitement seeing as how Outer Wilds is getting the recognition it deserves
I always love seeing a new mod from you; your projects are always wonderfully creative, and you have a great flair for making things look absolutely gorgeous.
I just wanna say that this is such an awesome mod you’ve made! I started playing Outer Wilds but didn’t finish it, now because of the thing you showed off at the end I’m gonna finish it just because of this video to see it in game, thanks!
Would it technically be possible for the mod to add a few of the outer wilds songs as music discs, so you can play them whilst watching the stars and planets orbit? Also, what if gravity crystals? Yes, I am a major outer wilds head, though I sadly robbed myself the experience to play it blind, it was still the best thing I have experienced for quite a while. So, I suppose I have to now thank you wholeheartedly for making this a reality.
I was spoiled it a bit for myself as well, but the worst thing i ended up doing to myself was cheating some parts of the game since i was completely lost, but i still ended up loving it.
If you are looking for this, there are mods that can do this already. I believe there are mods that let you add custom disks, or you can just make a resource pack. More importantly (I haven't checked so I could be wrong) Up Down And All Around has blocks that function identically to not only gravity crystals, but the little gravity tubes.
@@c0dejjshizpostarchive624Up and Down and All Around is for Forge 1.12.2, so it's not usable with this mod. An option that is, however, is the Amethyst Gravity mod, which also fits the Outer Wilds theming pretty well!
I also got rid of the experience. I was sobbing because I realize that i will never be able to experience it for the first time ever again. It is truly a magical game.
As someone who recently finished Outer Wilds for the first time, this was an absolute delight to see. Everything from the marshmallows to the [SPOILER] was just absolutely perfect. I have a friend who's super obsessed with Outer Wilds and recently started putting together a custom modpack based on the game, I'm certain they'll absolutely love this. Keep on doing what you're doing! Every new project you make never fails to amaze me and put a big smile on my face
This is genuinely the most amazing mod I've ever seen, outer wilds is my favorite game of all time and this is just phenomenal. I can't stress this enough, amazing work!!
So a few suggestions For the Planets revolving around the center, there should be a third bar for the Angle of their rotation. And if possible, a fourth to make the revolutions an Oval instead of a perfect Circle. Would also be cool if we can modify all the values via redstone or possibly ComputerCraft (or whatever version equivalent). And finally, it'd be nice if the Stars gave out Light. Even better if you can somehow code the light to 'fake' Daytime. Tech Mods with Solar Panels would love basically 24/7 solar power that way.
for perfectly roasted marshmallow, you can make it so you can name stars or make constellations. there's another mod that already does this but it would be a cool feature to add.
That would be so sick!! Or even draw constellations between them and have that show up in villages or something? Like imagine an Astronomer NPC that sells star maps that keep your constellations permanent
This is actually so awesome and would have taken forever to make, honestly so cool how people like you make mods like this for others to play! Props to you
massive outer wilds fan here.. this is why i love your content so much! please keep this up, keep adding little references, secretly using the OST in videos (literal chills when blake fell into the third level of neverend and forbidden archives played) and keep doing everything you do! I love it all so much
I wonder what would happen if Rat took interest in Deep Rock Galactic now... What masterpiece of a mod would emerge from that... Karl would approve of this.
Hey Rat, you probably won't see this but thanks for inspiring me to start modding. I've wanted to for a while but your videos are what finally pushed me to start
I bought and played outer wilds after i watched your video of neverend, and i absolutely loved the game. Seeing this mod and all the references is truly amazing and i cant wait to see what you make next, keep up the good work RAT!
The video of neverend came out a month ago and i think i probably got the game the same day. Steam says it took me 14 hours to complete it (excluding the dlc, which im planning on getting when i have some free time), so definitely not a record
this mod seems really cool, i wonder who did the sounds jokes aside, working on this with you was really fun, seeing it all come together was a blast and i'm glad i could help tie it all together with the sounds!!
As soon as I realized this was a reference to Outer Wilds, I paused it and got my kids to watch with me. They got so excited! We are huge fans of both Minecraft and Outer Wilds, so you can be sure we will try it out! Plus you have definitely earned a sub from me!
idea: Add decorations to the planets such as: cities, satellites, craters, spaceship flying around, and maybe a way to shrink down the player to explore the nano system
This is so awesome. Would be amazing for a teacher to teach kids about the solar system in my opinion!! It would be intractable in 3D and would give a really cool perspective that’d hard to imagine.
Love the outer wilds references in this mod, it’s a super cool game if you haven’t played it. Probably one of the coolest gaming experiences I’ve ever had
Imagine you make a custom mod where you have to collect a ton of netherite around like a max size and temperature star, and it creates a star sphere, and by combining that with Uranium ore, you create a stellar nuke.
I love the fact that with the assistance of a single marshmallow, the spyglass has gone from one of the least useful items in the game to literally being able to decimate stars light years away merely by facing their general direction.
That would have been funny to have other things coming from Outer Wild, like the possibility to "create" quantic object that act like the ones in the game (they change place when you look away), maybe even create the quantic deplacement with the same light utilitie... or by using an another kind of idea like... using a blindness potion. They would also be the thing with black hole and with hole or the planet with the angler fish that act like the tardis, so it's dimensionaly bigger in the inside but... that would be too complicated I think. Never the less the Idea is brillant and give me the envy to rewatch or actually PLAY the game... but I'm easy to scared and I don't like scary thing so probably rewatch a let's play.
@@TheRealPerple has I said I don't like scary game... so the only thing I could do was watching people play it, it didn't change the experience for though
this looks dope asf. but i feel like there should be some kind of functional aspect to the mod as well. even if its just like, some status effect you can afflict yourself with or something like that idk.
I'm 2 minutes in and I adore this mod already. Outer Wilds is truly a perfect game. Edit: I finished the video and this is such a nice little love letter to Outer Wilds. The only thing that could improve it even slightly is (spoilers) adding the quantum moon somehow. Probably impossible. I'm already thinking about different ways to use this, whether it just be for fun, or genuinely using it for maps of starsystems and stuff for space based ttrpgs. This is awesome.
This is awesome! One thing I thought was that the process of making a astral object smaller seemed convoluted, maybe that could just be breaking it, except instead of breaking the block it just decrements the size?
Also (can't edit on mobile) it'd be cool to be able to dye the placeable stars different colors! And place them wrhout the container? I'm not sure if that's possible already
WOW!!!!! this mod is so pretty!!! while I haven't played "outer wilds" (so don't know what the lore is with the special clip at the end) I have to say... that special clip is SO PRETTY!!!! you outdid yourself r4t
the stars falling has got to be my favorite part about this, it would be amazing if it were like a weather event that happens for a short duration of time
Absolutely beautiful mod! An idea for the perfectly cooked marshmallow would be curving the glowing spires pf light towarda the player to mak it easier to find! As awlays thanks for an amazing video stay safe and keep up the amazing work!
Maybe with the perfectly roasted, it gives you a chance buff that stars will fall. Or increases the chance or more rare cosmos or stars to fall. , they land really close to you and give double resources. Or some combination therof :) your mods and videos are top notch, keep up the good work.
