I would get suspension lowering arms too so that the body of the car comes closer to the top of the tires. Just my opinion.

Have the exact same car as you. Black c4s. Sunroof and techno wheels. I'm the same don't like how the tyres sit on the rims. Still on factory 17mm spacer. Think I'll go up to 23 or 25mm spacer. Great series of 911 videos thanks. And subscribed

Thanks. Unfortunately, I sold her at the end of last summer. I was was looking at needing to rebuild the engine and I didn’t want to spend $9k on parts. But now I regret selling it.

@@BusyDadsWorkshop I got my last August. I'm in the UK. Got it for a good price. With enough for an engine rebuild if required under average selling price.

I wish I could. I let it go last summer.

The only safe reason for using spacers is if you are fitting non-standard wheels. In that case, the centre of the tread of the new wheel should be in the same position as the original. If you add a big spacer to a standard wheel you are creating a much greater moment on the hub bearings. This was considered unwise on low powered cars decades ago. It is extremely unwise on a 300 bhp car.

The original OE spacers were missing. I was only increasing the track by a few mm. You should see some of the RUF spacers on their air cooled cars. I have seen them 3-4"

Safety factors eat up these small changes. “Extremely unwise”. Lol. Plenty of people tuning wheel fitment via spacers with no problems. History and evidence is not on your arguments side.

Hang on. The 996 4s was supposed to come from the factory with spacers?

Yes. On the rear. I was able to get a hold of my original build sheet.

Only if you have the optional Sport Techno wheels, like the car in this video has. Those wheels were only made in one offset which could be used on narrow body (NB) cars as-is and on wide body (WB) cars with a 17 mm rear spacer from the factory. The more common Turbo Twist II wheels were manufactured in specific NB and WB offsets so as long as you were using the correct offset for your car, you wouldn't need spacers.

Do you have to get the tracking done After wheel spacers

I plan on a full alignment once I have new tires an a few new suspension components.

@@BusyDadsWorkshop what you planning on doing suspension wise buddy, as I’m looking at a suspension refresh but not sure if I can justify coilovers as don’t track that often 🤔

Great garage there buddy 👏🏼 Is there any difference in ride with the spacers? Any detriment in feel, roadholding? 🤔
@BusyDadsWorkshop
@BusyDadsWorkshop 3 года назад
Going to a refresh of everything. Including PSS10 coil overs. I don’t track either but with the coil overs you can dial in your ride height.
@BusyDadsWorkshop
@BusyDadsWorkshop 3 года назад
I haven’t really noticed a difference. However some people have told me that if you track, you will notice more under steer which can be corrected by increasing your tire width.

This is completely false and wrong. Please don’t do it to your Porsche . The reason behind my advice was that your Porsche has come from factory with proper engineering calculations for the balance between body weight and Tyre size against all speed and curves you my involved in and by adding that spacer you played with that balance and you changed everything in wrong way.
