This is definitely a video to be shared. Lots of forums with guys on the fence about spacers and others fear-mongering due to lack of knowledge. In the few I've checked out on this subject, not one member against installation ever cited incorrect torque settings as a possible cause of failure. Very informative...

Been running Digicam wide spacers for the last ten years on my 350z. No problems at all, but I would recommend bolt spacers.

My spacer is hubcentric but wheel has bigger hub size I torqued with using lug centric lugs and star pattern should I be fine?
@redlinesgarage

Once you torqued to spec correctly before dropping the vehicle on its own weight you should be fine.

I just put spacer's on my Mustang Gt and it's only been a few days.. The car feels more cat like.. But I have a feeling the driver side front spacer is torqued a little more than it calls for.. I am going to pull the wheel off this week and re do it... The fronts were a little more difficult to do because they spin around on you.. I put a pry bar in-between lug bolts n I used an impact along with a torque wrench.. They called for 150 foot pounds and I may have been over by 5 foot pounds, IDK I am going to take it out for a little ride today.. I already took her out on a long 1 hour ride on back roads that are bumpy and you have to make turns and also a lot of stop and go. Then I took her out on highway to check for any NVH, and everything felt smooth took the car up to 70 n 80 for a minute and so far so good.. I hated the way the stock wheels looked sunk in like that!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7Z9uTgZeKwU.html

Do they have any benefits at all for a road vehicle? Do they affect your insurance premiums? Can they invalidate your policy if you have a claim and haven't informed the Insurance company?
@redlinesgarage
@redlinesgarage Год назад
They are usually installed primarily for aesthetic reasons altho they do widen the track of the vehicle which can help performance and stability when cornering. I have never heard of them affecting your insurance premium but that is something that will probably depend on your specific premium so it would be best to check with your insurance company beforehand if you want to be safe.

I got hubcentric spacers on the hub side only, the side that goes to the rim is actually lugcentric, because the rims i have use the same bolt patern, but have a slightly smaller hub, so they don't fit without the spacers.

What will happen if you use locktite?
@redlinesgarage
@redlinesgarage Год назад
Normally each brand of loctite type threadlockers will have a reduction percentage value for the torque settings based on the type you are using so you would need to reduce torque setting by that amount as essentially when wet it acts like a lubricant. On average reduction values are around 20%

Is “Anodized surface, 6061-T6 Aluminum Billet, 10.9 grade lug nuts” safe? The lugs? 15mm
@redlinesgarage
@redlinesgarage Год назад
That's a fairly common industry standard grade aluminum nut. It is safe if used properly, in other words once it is torqued correctly. Stay away from unregulated air tools that can create over 300 ft lb. Normally you want under 100 ft lb for wheel lug nuts to torque correctly. Best practice is to recheck and retorque after 50-100 miles.

Great video... ok, does it differ being Anodized or raw non Anodized? Are anodized ones as strong as non anodized ones?
@redlinesgarage
@redlinesgarage 5 месяцев назад
Anodizing can make aluminum slightly stronger but for structural parts like this the main thing is the material type. Anodizing is more often used as a surface protectant to help reduce corrosion or for changing the color

@chrisrye8409
@chrisrye8409 Год назад
So dont use locktite?
@redlinesgarage
@redlinesgarage Год назад
It is not necessary to use loctite but would add an extra layer of protection. Having said that, only use it if you adjust your torque specifications to compensate for the variation that a lubricant or thread locker creates. The manufacturer of the brand you use will normally indicate what percentage of adjustment is necessary.

Are the slip ons known to make the tire shake / vibrate? how likely is that to happen?
@redlinesgarage
@redlinesgarage 9 месяцев назад
Some of the slip ons that have large slots as holes to accommodate an extra wide range of patterns are known to have that issue since they are not evenly balanced and are very hard to get to remain centered on the hub when bolting them up. They also tend to be cast aluminum as opposed to CNC Billet and have less material on them making them more prone to cracking and failure.

Do I need an alignment after putting 2 inch spacers
@dpRykoqp
@dpRykoqp 6 месяцев назад
No, all spacers do is offset the wheel. In terms for suspension geometry, it has no effect on caster, camber, or toe. A point I don’t hear too often as it may be case-by-case with each make or model, more offset tends to make the wheel feel more heavy
@JetSkiSuper7

Oh no! I’m one of the idiots that thought anti seize on lug nuts was a good idea.
