Thank you again for making this series of videos. I'm sure work would progress more quickly if you weren't filming and editing. But I'm learning a lot and appreciate the time you are taking to film the project.
You are very good at explaining what you do.!!! Oh gee I remember back in the day my oldest son and I dug the footer for our porch (10 x 20) by hand~~~~shovel by shovel....LOL..He is now over 50 years of age but still talks about us doing that....(Me and Mom gotter done)...LOL
I have no plans on building, but do I ever find this interesting. Such a process to get to the point of even starting the build. Thanks for taking us along. God Bless. 💝
So exciting to get your new room! It will make such a difference moving the washer and dryer to the new room. And a new kitchen too and all before the holidays!
It's good to see you standing inside the foundation to give us an accurate view of how big that space really is. Man, this addition is going to add so much room! And yes, Bill, the shovel work - UGH! Even though we have sandy soil instead of clay, still, THE SHOVELING - Ugh. I'm cheering you on! (Rah rah! Go Bill!)
“Its just a hair out of square” borrowed from you-tubes “Trent and Allie” The new addition will be better built than the older original house, because you are a perfectionist👍🏻😁
Gosh, that was a loud birdy, singing it's little heart out while you worked! I am fascinated at how American houses are built because you use totally different methods to those here in the UK, where houses are built with a concrete base, breeze block wall, then a cavity space, then bricks on the outside. Internal walls are usually stud walls, although not always. My own house has solid brick internal walls, too. Siding isn't a thing in the UK. Love your videos, btw! x
In America, we build almost everything (at least residential) out of wood. I know, we lived in Germany for 3 years, and almost everything is Europe is built with some type of masonry. Keep watching our videos and you'll see the entire process of building a house here in America.
Great job Bill. Love the bender for rebar. I thought about how sunscreen and a sun hat would help you deal with the hottest month of the year Bill :) Can't wait to check out the concrete pour. Birds were there cheering you on :) and Great Job Elizabeth :)
I enjoy your building videos super much. Don't worry I also enjoy the travel videos. Good job as usual!!!!!! If you would ever like to teach someone how to build a tiny house I would like to do so. AZ location. I just thought I would offer in case one day you get bored. I do know how many plans you have. But just in case. 😂 😂
I got use to using a water level for forms if alone, set the height on the bucket and walk around with the sight glass end to make all points level. Different strokes... 8-)
excus me Sir, before laying the foundation frame, the ground must be compacted and paved with bricks or fine gravel and tamped again to ensure that the footers(the foundations) doesn't sink in the future when it has to carry the roof ...
Bill, I have a side question..or anyone here may help. I have a dewalt drill.both batteries are dead. how do I tell if it is the batteries no longer taking a charge or the charger no longer functioning? everything on video shows doing mechanical things-tear apart and stuff. do you think Lowes will help if I bring it there? should I buy a new charger first?
When you charge the batteries, does it hold ANY charge at all? Unfortunately, you'll probably find that if you try to buy new batteries, it'll only cost you a few dollars less than buying a whole new drill! Lowes won't help. They are a retailer, not a repair shop.
seems like too much work when you could be camping. Too bad you couldn't have found a way to stay in the same sq footage. Living simple, and all that. I don't mean this as a criticism as I enjoy watching you work and admire your thoroughness. I know this addition will be wonderful.
Living simple isn’t about being a minimalist, it’s about remaining debt free - which we are doing. This addition will make it possible for Elizabeth to entertain in her new kitchen/dining room.
