i had issues with the PC and the software then i had issues with just putting it aside and not having much motivation to just push the project to completion.
@@testlogs9005 oh okay that’s understandable while you here couple questions if you don’t mind: How long has your smoke saber lasted and why did you put a full fire alarm system into your house??
Connor at one stage can I watch the beacon and listen to the voice sounders different messages in the garage when you test the cardboard monoxide alarm?
@@Jimmycrops the orange adapter is my design, i made it because the other alternative is a bulky ribbon cable with d9 connector connected to a Rs232 to usb adapter and then to plug into the computer using usb.
Something makes me wonder what a system test with the sounder bases on the US Temporal LF tone would be like. Being that I am American, I can imagine how that would be for a fire system in the United Kingdom, compared to the States.
I want to replace the sounder bases to discovery which have more tones available on them to the xp95 ones which only have two tones. When that day comes I can program the panel to sound the US temporal throughout the whole house for a video it won’t stay that way but it would be fun to try it out.
@@testlogs9005 Cool! The tone change was just a thought, cause a bunch of fire alarms in the United States nowadays have different tones you can change them to. Granted, you have to change them on the notification appliances themselves individually, unless it's a Voice Evacuation system that uses speakers, you can change them from the main panel or slave panel. As for alarm in the US that have multiple tones, we have the following: Wheelock MT, Gentex Commander 3 & 4, System Sensor L Series, Simplex Multi-Tone TrueAlerts, Siemens UMMTs, and so on. While these fire alarms brands sound foreign to you, these are the most common brands that facilities in the United States have, as of today.
@@uksds3806 I will list them on eBay you can get them there when I get round to it they all still function fine I just want more functions to mess with.
there is a way but its time consuming and limited. your better getting a cable and a copy of loop explorer. download a copy of the manual and read it, you should find some info on the basic front end programming.
@@testlogs9005 id have to do the time consuming way bc i aint buying a laptop with the part for the cable and i aint buy that cable its expensive for a peice of cable
No. Not kentec anyway. Any more than one device that takes up the same address will cause a fault and can render both devices inoperable. Any device not enrolled will not work.
Hi there huge fan of the channel been here for a while I was just wondering because I bought a sounder beacon base bug when I give it power it does not do anything and an amber light comes on and I was wondering if you could help or at least find out what the yellow light means thx very much and great video btw 😊
no chance of getting that working without a panel, sounds like you have an intelligent device with an isolator. the amber LED is the isolator indicator the isolators purpose is to disconnect any shorted out sections of cable, it also triggers if the input voltage is too lo, sounds like your giving it 9v or 12v. to get the this working you need to send a digital packet to it containing its address and the command to switch on a panel with compatible protocol will do this.
@@aidenfraser I was gonna mention you must be using a power source less than 11V as your isolator led is lighting. You won’t break it connecting it up but it just won’t do anything without a command sent using the correct protocol.
@@aidenfraser the switches are for setting the device address. The switches 1 to 7 are for address switch 8 is for volume selection. The 4 dip switches are for setting group addresses.
Those are made by myself and I usually make a small limited batch at a time. I am in the process of prototyping a process to make USB C variants. There are none left at the moment. I don’t have a time frame for when they will next be available as I need to complete other commitments first.
