Addressing the eBike Drama - ECELLS vs Wired

Wired is in trouble. They need to up their game, and fast. I have the Freedom and I love it, but they are a one trick pony and the competition nowadays is incredibly stiff. Free shipping!!

Wired has used the game with adding the free second battery. Also I think I'm going to get the cruiser now that it has the full suspension and two batteries!

I have been reviewing ebikes for 4yrs, done around 80 reviews. I bought, yes bought an #eCells 1500 model a few years ago. Paid almost $5k. Owner definitely wasn't interested in handing out bikes to influencers.....lol. Then, when I got my bike, I understood why. The e-cells bike speaks for itself. It's been my personal bike, even though I have dozens of bikes going through my garage every year, the e-cells is still the one I have chosen as my daily. It is pure quality and they have really great customer service too. I also love that it's an American owned business too. I have not reviewed the #Wired #Wicked brand yet to give my opinion them. I can say, the only downfall is the e-cells bikes are a bit more expensive.

I ordered weeks ago because they ship to Canada, have a larger frame version, and have water bottle bosses. Wired doesn't have any of that. With what I have learned since, and with all the updates and options that ECells added, I think the choice is obvious even for those not living in Canada. Nothing against Wired, but they have clearly been leapfrogged here. Great vid. I give it 5 stars. 😊

Everything you have said is things I have thought of, and it's true. This is America... Wired step up your game, or lose sales. That's all there is to it...With E-cell you get more for your money ... I was going to order a wired freedom, not now. five star for me...👍👍👍👍

All the other ECELLS v Wired videos focus on the drama, not the bike. The bike actually sounds pretty cool. I really like the 17” frame (being short), the direct mounted controller since my Freedom controller moves around a lot and hits the chain occasionally and it coming with/adding mods I’ve had to do on my bike. Really interested to see if the torque sensor helps with hill climbing or not. Good video.

I bought a super monarch last April and loving it. The customer service has been great and fast. I don't know much about the wired bike, but I could tell you this, the e cells are a great product and they stand behind it.

This is business. And two owners with their passion. Both are great companies. And you get feel good about either purchase. Will ecells make wired bikes and service even better. The answer is yes. And same with ecells. Bottom line is the customer benefits from them both. Everyone who are wired fans should be happy about it and welcome ecells. Cause it’s only going to make future wired bikes better. Period.

I was looking at Wired's options. Then discovered the ECells Five Star. I got the Five Star for $2,094.00 (out the door) with the Gates Belt Drive upgrade. I couldn't justify getting less for more.

The one thing you missed on pricing, is that Wired is including the additional battery wih every bike! Thats a 699$ value. Offsets the shipping costs from Wired......

There is a flaw in choosing a frame based on your height. The reason is most humans come in two forms. Long torso and short legs or short torso and long legs. Check it out, youll see Im right

I really like your channel. you are honest about what you like and didn't like about your freedom. You''re the only one around who has mentioned the peddle strikes and gear ratios that you felt should be changed. I also like the hills and trails you ride on. I also appreciate your sense of humor. There. Now that I've sucked up to you, I have a proposition. I bought a Ecells 5 star with a $99 torque sensor. I live in Danville and am suppose to get the bike in April. I was wondering if you might be interested in me bringing it to meet with you so you could do an apples to apples comparison with your freedom. We could ride somewhere. If it's more involved that you want, I get it. I just thought that since we live fairly close it may be something you want to do. Just to let people know. I test rode a Freedom in Sac at a bike shop. With shipping, tax, and their $20 set up fee the bike was around $2500 out the door. I got my 5 star for $1895 with $330 per month for 6 months interest free. Almost $600 cheaper.

Wired did a bunch of upgrades very recently, including a 2nd battery. 8 other upgrades. Same price. E-cells costs an extra $700 for a 2nd battery..

I never thought I would see a Civil War over two rival E bikes that just goes to show that both the bikes are very nice and you can’t go wrong with either one, in a couple years both bikes will be obsolete as they come out with 70 v. bikes that will do 50 miles an hour. They’re just gonna keep getting better and better, and faster and faster as that is what we the consumers demand.❤

So glad to hear you are happy with your stock shocks. I'm definitely planning to get a Five Star after talking to a couple folks on reddit who own ecells bikes, but the new options threw me for a loop, and I was trying to figure out if I needed to spend the extra money on front and rear shocks if I'm mostly just doing street/path riding...

Also e cells better ground clearance whereas wired pedal hits the ground at every slight turn

Man look I absolutely love your channel F#$@! What the haters are saying! I was going to get a wired and I held off and I'm glad because the 2nd model came out and I was like whew!!!! Then I was going to get it and my gut told me to hold off a little....ps....it was after a gyro with extra sauce so it mightve just been gas....but I'm glad I did because now there dropping the "newer" version bigger controller a second battery ect ect....but now idk what to get because honestly I really like the ecells bike and I keep hearing how the frame is alot better than wireds....but the fact that wired is upgrading and keeping the price the same is awesome I'm sure previous buyers are a little p!$$#@....but it's really cool what ecells is doing and I could honestly flip a coin on either bike 👍🏻✌🏼

I like my Wired Freedom, but taxes, a bogus damage insurance charge, and shipping cost me $500.

FYI, I found out from David Cleavland himself Hentach recommends not exceeding 230 degrees Fahrenheit motor temperature. To turn on motor temp, on the display set C8 to 1.

Hi Chit, RU-vid viewer here. I checked out their website awhile back and came to the conclusions you are stating (they have had this frame for awhile, etc.). Haters going to hate. You presented good info here. I'll look forward to some actual reviews when this bike is available, I think this bike is even heavier than the Wired. Comment on handling if you ever get to try this. Also would be good to know if it has more pedal to ground clearance than Wired. All bikes have pros and cons.

I would say it comes down to some options and the programmability of your display. Can you set the power at take off and PAS levels individually? Are the batteries going to be UL certified? Color and shock options are a plus. Are the bikes tuned more for top end or hills? There are a few things to look at.. tire options are great.. Rim finish is nice to see options for.. Drag race!😅

Great video, but you were almost too serious for me - Lol..! I have no regrets buying my Wired bikes, but timing is everything. Had I waited 9 months to get into E-Biking, I would've probably gone for an E-Cells bike. But I'm glad I didn't wait. I've really enjoyed my time riding my Wired. I'm looking forward to you getting an E-Cells bike to review.

Great video. I am interested in knowing if the Wired battery will work on this bike and will the E-Cells battery work on the Freedom. When I called E-Cells a few weeks ago they did not have that answer nor did they offer a spare 60volt battery to buy. If you can get this answer; I would greatly appreciate it!

I have the 1000 watt Ecell Ebike it’s four years old it has 600 miles on it. This Ebike has a GPS system, camera 🎥, 1300 lumen lamp 🪔, horn, no front basket 🧺, new replacement controller.

I asked freedom for free shipping on their instock bikes (usually never stocked) after pointed out 5 star with there free shipping, extra accessories, and $100 discount code. My choice was down to these 2 bikes and the SMLRO V3 Plus (AWD 2000w bike at $1300). The owner refused the free shipping despite the gauraunteed sale and competition I highlighted for him. I immediately purchased the SMLRO V3 Plus because shiiping lead time was a week vs the 5 Star bike being an April delivery. My preference was the instock wired bike if the owner would just bend on shipping, which was still more expensive then the 5 star, but came with immediate delivery. I took my extra $950 in saving and bought an Bakcou Trauiler, locks, accessiories, and extra battery.

My great great great grandfather just murdered me about this conflict. My last words: 60v dual battery dual motor me, He sure did 😂.

i think these days an ebike company should be judged on how well they can bring a bunch of different products together and be funtional and seemless ,not actually that easy, Another aspect is if every company is making their own frames ,ebikes would way more expensive , Myself i prefer to make my own framesi make stealth bomber type bikes, this way i put features in that arnt avaiable like moto cross style suspension ,dual motors, using geared hubs as jack shaft and gearbox in one,batteries i can travell 250 to 300 kilometres before charging,,3 speed overdrive crink sets ,electronic shifting ,and more

Interesting that ecells also look to be releasing a version with a 3000w dual motor/batteries 60v system and 2 40amp controllers. They would be the first company to do that.

I agree fully with your opinion of the war! I thought the RU-vidr who is the most outspoken about this bike was pretty entertaining but that wore off quickly! Couldn't believe the things she was saying about Ecells. I just went and put the Ecells in the cart and it said your coupon code was over its limit and to try again later. Im 6ft tall. Not sure if I commented before, to tell you what I was told by someone really prominent in one of these two e-bike companies that you're talking about on here. Anyways, I was told with confidence, that citizen cycle wanted $300 for each & every five-star bike that Is sold through his affiliate link, if indeed he agreed to review the bike on his RU-vid channel.

I purchased a wired freedom a few months back, and it drove me crazy thinking about the months which I could have potentially been forced to wait, before ever receiving the wired freedom. So my dumbass canceled the order because I was so impatient and I purchased @ brand new Onyx cty2, which very well may have been the last, if not one of the last bikes that Onyx ever made. I woke up the very next morning, and saw an email from, wired telling me that my bike was in stock, and they were shipping them out. I'm being sincere, when I say that I still tear up thinking about that email! I wanted that bike so freaking bad, and I managed to cancel my freaking order just hours before they arrived to their warehouse and we're being shipped out! It devastates me. So much so, that I can't even really enjoy my Onyx to the fullest, because for so long there I wanted that damn wired freedom, wink so bad! Don't get me wrong, my cty too is a legit moped, and it goes really fast, but in all reality, it doesn't really matter how much more powerful my current bike is, or how crappy the wired freedom potentially might have been, because I'll never be happy with any other bike, other than the bike I was ignorant enough to let slip right through my hands.

The "loyalty" that people feel towards a Chinese company is hilarious. Buy what you like at best price. Wired wouldn't send flowers to your funeral if bike turns you into a Krispy critter...

As a Wired owner they have shipped me parts I ruined for free. I told them I ruined it in a crash and I will pay. Shipping and part all free in my mailbox. I support that. Now 5 star eCells do that then I may consider but have to prove. To new to show. I will happily pay more for a company that can prove they will take care of you. And eCell at the moment has no proof. But maybe down the line they can so not digging on them just too new of a model. And that just made me realize the company I guess has been around. Has anybody heard anything good on costumer support on the other models? I haven't but haven't looked either. Hmm

Competition is great but the way e cells has gone about it by trolling Wired’s Facebook page is pathetic. Regardless, e cells may soon have a come to Jesus moment when Wired fully responds. Funny thing is, the real competition isn’t between e cells and Wired, it’s 60v versus all those weak 48v bikes. Btw, who would buy one of ecells insanely overpriced awd bikes when their least expensive model will destroy it? E cells has shot itself in the foot and Wired will finish the job in due course.

I can't get over how ugly it looks. The aesthetics aren't there. The weird little humps in the frame where it connects like webbing between toes. Wiring management and placement is suspect to me. It has a very industrial, just good enough to get it out door type constructions Those sloppy amateur hour welds. I hope the final product gets significant polish and attention to the details before shipment. It's nearly $2K and it looks like a Walmart special. No sir. I don't like it all.
