You have Destiny there. The most toxic one in the room so discussing it would be pointless with him there. If you think I'm wrong he did this AFTER HIS DEATH. He had NOTHING good to say only "The most █████ things he did". I'm not saying you have to agree with me on this. I'm saying if this would have happened to literally ANYBODY else. They wouldn't be praised but shunned. But guess what Destiny got after this? Praised, His fans are toxic waste and he is the exploded nuclear plant. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Sk1KdSiyub4.html
Understanding XQC is like listening to a phone call on bad connection - you pick up bits and pieces and kinda have to fill in the rest based on context clues lol
I’m genuinely impressed on how smart and on point Anita is, since I never watched her stream before. She makes such strong arguments and talks about things in such an eloquent way. I wish I was more like that, legit wow.
watch her stream. she's an absolute genius. her vocabulary is sky-high. she's probably the most well-spoken, well-read, eloquent person on Twitch. Destiny is very very comparable although maybe not to her level yet. you can do it too; just read more and watch videos of well-spoken people like Stephen Fry
@@funnnnnnnn3442 after this I'll definitely be watching her stream now. I would say I am, not in english tho, since is not my native language. Thanks for the heads up :D
The only issue with Anita is that a lot of time, especially on stream when you ask her a question she drift in a monolog and make a huge straw man about it. But i suppose it's an issue for most of streamers with a lot of viewers, you cant keep a real discussion with them, because they have too much to handle, so sometimes it look like they are talking alone to me.
@@funnnnnnnn3442 Eloquence doesn't nessecarily mean that you are a genius though. It is rather the way you compress information in the simplest way possible. A lot of "stupid" people speak in an eloquent way to make themselves look more intelligent. Of course this doesn't apply to Anita
Anita is such a nice gal but I feel like if I knew her personally, I would be afraid to be her friend because I laugh really easily and I would have a really hard time not bursting out laughing at many of the tics. I know she's okay with laughing but like it would be too much for me.
18:27 This is besides the point, but Anita did such an amazing voice just by saying "Press X" and I immediately imagined some Cortana type character voiced by her.
Saw most of this live yesterday and I have to say, I'm really impressed with the points Anita and Destiny brought up in particular - they both made themselves understood incredibly well. Thank you very much for hosting this discussion hgGG team. Also Felix raising his hand and waiting his turn was strangely adorable (especially as someone who was the obnoxious kid in class who couldn't wait their own), and I love how everyone's personalities came through in the ending game/meditation - you maybe wouldn't think it, but even doing little things, it really shows a lot about who someone is and how they interact with others.
Man I always feel so bad watching clips of her or on streams like this because sometimes I laugh and then feel bad. Like I literally bite my tounge, esp now knowing it bothers her :(
I enjoy how excited he sounds though, he's not taking the time to breath inbetween sentences, which is bad but I mean I've met people who just talk like him, he was so engaged and I enjoy it.
Yeah people often say he’s stupid but if you can interpret the things he’s attempting to communicate I think he’s actually pretty smart. People also forget that he’s only been speaking English on a regular basis since he started streaming in English which is honestly not a long time for someone to speak a language with little formal education. I took French in school and I could never speak French on the level that he speaks English.
@@Moustashmol Thats mostly because he is speaking French casually, like the way you would speak english to your mates, you dont try to be punctual and just talk randomly.
Destiny and Lily would have feel very different from one another I would have never thought someone would watch them both if they weren't very good friends
I think it's true for alot of viewers, but not most of them. It's just that the loudest voices is those you always hear. The vast majority of viewers are either lurkers or post like one or two messages a stream. And I think the toxicity is due to the competitive nature of our constructed economic systems while having the luxury of being anonymous at the same time. Many people use twitch as a venting place and have never learned to value others or to be considerate of them. It's the same patterns of bullying at schools on a different platform that makes bullying easier.
@@Luftgitarrenprofi It's true for me at least. I clean up with their streams on, and play shooters with the ambient sounds of streamers in the background.
@Dave David people don't raise their hands like a classroom, but most people will at least raise a finger or signal with their hand (not raising your entire arm like in a classroom). well adjusted adults don't just cut each other off without signaling they're about to interrupt.
@Dave David If it's a deep discussion and you want to make sure everyone gets to talk, yeah. I've had talks with people where after a time it just became a necessity to raise your hand to say something out of respect for everyone else and sometimes you have to wait before chiming in. The reason it's used in the classroom is because it's useful. Why shouldn't we use it in real life situations then? Especially in a video call that's extremely useful.
WHY DOES THIS FEEL SO MUCH LIKE A CLASSROOM WITH DR. K AS A TEACHER??? i guess felix isn't helping but it still feels really funny with devin being the teachers pet and xqc being the adhd student and all that
@@THEBACKROOMSEXPLORER7 He's not helping in the sense that he made the stream feels more like a classroom by raising his hand before speaking, like a student.
That was sort of a given though given the participants involved My only real disappointment was Lily who never seemed to come out of her shell for whatever reason... although I thought Dr K could have done a bit more to draw her out
Jean-Luc Manigat well, she’s not exactly the type to be assertive in a conversation, especially one in a group. Even in her session with dr k, she was pretty withdrawn.
@Makoa The Ancient dr k didnt say he couldnt understand what he said, he meant what was the insult supposed to be as he couldnt understand what it meant (schnozer)
As someone who has adhd, I think he has ADHD tbh, no hate just saying I feel like he was super engaged and listening and trying hard to be respectful, it was actually really nice to see.
@@royalecrafts6252 it's really not. hes kindof famous for debating people online and dunking on some retards but have you actually watched his boring ass stream?
@@royalecrafts6252 how....? The drama comes from other people when they get ass mad on a different show about something destiny said. It happens all the time.
please don’t flame me i’ve never seen her before so i’m not trying to be rude. Are the ticks real? Or is it an act? I’m sorry if this is insensitive to ask...
I mean you have a guy that streams politics for a living, a guy that streams the business of social media and runs an agency for a living, a guy who streams the psychology of social media for a living and Anita who’s, well, Anita... the fact that Felix could hold is own in that conversation is arguably remarkable enough. I personally thought he made good points, just not as “big picture” as Anita or Destiny.
I've never really watched xQc before, but that guy's body language is so distinctive. He's like at ease all the time, always ready with a comment while never hogging the mic if someone else tries to speak, relaxed and focused and getting distracted at the same time. I'm actually very impressed this first impression.
It's very bizarre to describe xqc. He is very loud and obnoxious on stream to please the masses of his streams and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Xqc is really like this for the videos where he is talking about real topics.
This was a great talk. Started following lily and Anita after it. Anita has a tonne of interesting insight for those who struggle with learning/neurological disorders.
@@sanadrin8359 She talked about how roomates of hers start acting weird like giving gifts and such and then demanding that she be their girlfriends, or one guy literally stalked her, that sort of thing
Yeah check his Twitter. He basically had to delete his entire life on the internet he had saved. DMS and more. It really impacted him and he ended up not streaming that day.
I was watching some lol streamers playing Dota in a lower bracket and many comments from the lol players were about how it seemed like in Dota it was harder to 1v9... It might be generally reinforced in MOBAs that carrying your team and winning the game regardless of their contribution is the most efficient way to climb the ladder.
lol, at 22:43, anita looks at the camera and think "wait, you guys don't pay your mods?" the next day devin interviewed anita, and she said she was super surprised that devin doesn't pay his mods. the look on devin's face was gold. he felt kinda guilty when he was explaining why he doesn't pay them and he said something like "chat don't hate me please!"
On the note of ddos, doxing and Swatting The problem is that articles are written in ways that focus on the streamer to give it more visibility instead of focusing on the actual crime comitted. Swatting is even featured in "best of twitch" compilations and such.
This is the reason why streamers being swatted was normalized as a "funny" moment and in my opinion LSF contributed to this idea very hard back then and now
@@aaabatteries9948 you probably dont watch him he does change shirt and if not he fcking washes it and if hes room is disgusting its for the grind he makes more money than you in that dirty room then you ever eill
Most of the emote spam are the same and i never understand the appeal to type the same 6 lines every second. These are the people who crave attention from the streamer they’re watching.
Consider this: If you don't participate, it's much harder to learn what is and isn't acceptable behavior. It's scary sometimes, but often the best thing to do is to jump in and find out. It can be painful, but you'll never find out if you never even put your toe in the water...
@@thejerg I will interact on occasion, like this for example, but if I have any opinions I think could be misinterpreted as hateful or rude, I try to keep them to myself
@@thejerg In the past, occasionally online but more so in my personal life, I've had things I say be misinterpreted in that way, and then I've had to apologize and clarify. It's hard to do that online though, especially since people typically bandwagon after hearing an initial statement and ignore the rest, so I tend to just lurk and like stuff I agree with
No joke, this was one of the first hour+ long videos ive ever ACTUALLY sat through. It was such a good conversation/experience and gaining insight on each of their perspectives was pretty dope. Anita blew me away with how solid her points were and genuinely made me feel so damn bad for all the bs females in general have to deal with when it comes to the gaming scene. It felt like everyone here meshed really well with eachother. Even when xqc has issues getting his point across due to language barrier and his choice of words, you could just feel what he clearly meant, and it was nice to see Dr. K Hone in on that ability with the mediation at the end. Legit such a great ending to a great stream.
IKIGAI Basically that if you’re a woman and you’re not dressed like you belong in a convent, you’re a manipulative harlot using your body to bleed money from the simps
@@IKIGAIofficial That's so true, and so interesting. I think that's because she embodies and embraces her innate feminine power so strongly. At least, I've found that women are seen more fondly the more honest, and responsible they are about even the things they can't control about themselves. It's the girls who act as if they don't have breasts, that people have a distaste for. Ether they are that naive, or they are in fact manipulating you.
IKIGAI when ppl talk about the double-standards against female streamers and the way they dress, do you think they’re talking about beyonce? Either you misunderstood which female public figures were being referred to in this discussion, or you’re misrepresenting the argument.
Yea I think he has a stutter and I don’t think people know. He can’t get the words he wants to say out and it happens at random. He’s speaking a different language so it’s even harder for him. I’m one myself so I pick it up.
it isn't necessarily shitting on him. it's the way he talks, that's fact, but it's not a bad thing. The intent of the comment could have been to communicate that xqc's way of speaking is cringe: "shitting" on him, but it's not present in the actual comment, and probably isn't even the intent to begin with. xqc's way of speaking is funny and memed about, but typically not in a negative way.
anita is super underrated imo she’s extremely intelligent and super perspective on how people on twitch work. and some minor critique to dr.k, you need to let people finish their thoughts, even people like xqc no matter how fast he talks.. he seems to get frustrated when he gets cut off and i would be too. you also cut lily off a bunch too before she even could say 4 words.
One of the things I like about Dr. K is that you can say this to him point blank and he will react with zero % defensiveness or insultedness and just process it. I think I find comfort that he is so much like a robot, lol.
I know I'm late to the party on this vod, but I honestly just appreciate how you get these streamers together and open these conversations that need to be had. Thank you so much.
Sweet Anita is so articulate, off the top of her head, it's really impressive how clear and organised her thoughts are compared to other professional speakers.
because it's not off the top of her head? most of these streamers, except maybe Lily, probably spent a large amount of time previously thinking about these topics
I am allways impressed when Anita goes on one of these so well spoken rambles with a perfect analogy. She either is insanly eloquent or has a lot of well thought out takes on a lot of topics. Its so nice to just listen to her view.
The point about a vocal minority being able to totally change the chat is interesting. I remember reading about people paying for 5% of an audience to come and cheer at opening shows/concerts in theatre and other public performances to make sure that the whole audience was more receptive and that point was kind of the opposite effect. Also xQc was actually so cute in this.
Devin talking about how important XQCs thoughts are because he brodcasts to stadiums full of thousands of people and xqc is sitting there eating his fingernails lmao. 9:30
This stream is such an amazing gift to the twitch and gaming community. I can't emphasize enough how relevant and transformational it is for the community when big streamers talk openly about the hate and toxicity issue and share their take on it.
Dude when drK said was that a sentence to xQc I knew he wasn't trying to roast him, but the fact that it sounded like the best roast ever was hilarious to me. @ 14:21
Anita I thought got her points across, but Lily didn’t seem comfortable at all the whole time. They even tried giving her the floor a few times (xQc of all people in particular was quite graceful about it) and she didn’t take it. I don’t know if like you said she’d feel better in a one on one environment, or if it was just timing given everything going on at OTV these days.
@@SilverShadow02 Yes it's screwed up. Those fools saying simp should just be channel blocked IMO, it would improve the signal to noise ratio and encourage more positive communities.
The difference between online games and IRL is that people just leave. If some team is trash the toxic person often just leaves the court which would lead to an afk ban if online.
@@thegrmah5531 I don't know if you've ever played a team sport IRL before, but when I play football with a group of people who I've never met before, even if they aren't good players,, everyone is always super encouraging and say things like "don't worry about it, we got it next time". I think the 2 major differences why people don't troll IRL is that if you want to play a sport IRL you have to put in the effort to; find a team, go to the area the activity is taking place and then actually put in the effort to talk with these people and socialise with them. People will only do this if they are actually interested in the sport and want to have a good time. Compare this to video games, it's so easy to just open up League for example and just be in a game within 10 minutes, the amount of people who just don't care will increase compared to people who need to put in the effort to plan playing a sport IRL The other point is that that it's all anonymous. People say things to you that they would never say to you online. I think this is just a standard point that nobody really disagrees with
In pro chess. There was an example of griefing where you stall the game since it lasts more than 2 hrs. You stall in order to mentally fuck the opponent.
@@darkmoon2744 Daniel noroditsky had a story about an adult leaving during a tournament when he knew he was beat but it was his turn and there was no turn limit. His opponent went to get fast food before coming back to finish the game, just to grief Daniel because they knew they were going to lose from the position they were in. Daniel was like 14 or 15 at the time. Maybe younger I think.
I'm part of the "silent majority" of viewers. Most of the time, I hide the chat when watching someone on Twitch, unless I am watching a very very small streamer, and I know the community. I don't understand people randomly throwing hate out there.
I’ve noticed something that comes up a lot at the start of the conversation, and it’s that a lot of issues happen because people get satisfaction or attention from them. I genuinely wonder what happens in a person’s life to make them so unhappy or lonely that they get satisfaction from getting negative reactions from streamers or trolling their own team in game. Like to understand and help all these people, you’d need to find out the issue that’s making them do this toxic behavior to fix it, but that’s impossible to do for everyone on the internet. It’s very defeating to realize that there’s no real way to fix the toxic behavior of people on the internet.
There is, it's just not entirely or really at all a streamer's job. Content creation isn't foster care. Anita's educational content was the byproduct of a moment, and maybe a necessity given society's relative ignorance relating to the topic. But that's not fixing toxicity as much as it is fixing ignorance, which is a common theme among content creators.
I've never had any exposure to Sweet Anita in the past. Was super impressed with her commentary throughout. I'll have to check out her channel. Was also excited to see Devin and Dr K together. Intellectual bromance there for sure.
The biggest problem, specifically with League of legends, is that there is no incentive to be a good player. Not even a positive player, but a player that doesn't intentionally screw their team over. Riot's baby approach to 'solving' toxicity by allowing players get reported in Champ select is one of the very worst moves ever. We don't need more options to deal with bad players, we need incentives to increase the number of decent, neutral to positive players that genuinely want to work together to win.
Sweet_Anita is really well spoken, it was really awesome having her perspective in this interview! I appreciate that she took the effort to join the interview looks like it took a lot of effort to keep things down for others. Her ticks didn't bother me at all
i really, really agree with destiny on letting girls game from when they're younger. i've always asked my parents to buy me games and consoles since i was young and they never have, and i noticed that most of my relatives and friends that have gotten them all have male siblings, which i don't. shit sucks also, i think despite stuttering and having some trouble with wording, xqc's was pretty understandable and he made some good points. also also anita is so well articulated dang. all in all this was a fun selection of ppl and they had some interesting conversations
Sorry for reviving this but I just wanted to say that imo the internet and especially the gaming side of the internet is a really toxic and violent place to girl and while I'm not about to gatekeep gaming from girls I think it's more important to educate girls about what they can encounter etc... there from communities (ofc it's also important to educate everyone to respect people but we have minimal impact on that sooo)
Destiny gets so heated in debates and you never really see him look like he's enjoying himself, so seeing him look genuinely happy while messing with Lilly is heart warming.
At about 1:00:00 Felix talks about something that I think is very accurate/important about how “two faced” people aren’t toxic. I think it’s true the majority of the time. It goes back to the discussion about shit-talking vs team mate griefing. One is okay and one isn’t. Felix goes on to say, that he relates to Anita about feeling exhausted having to explain the obvious to sceptic viewers and I think that’s totally fair and no one should ever “have to” waste their own personal energy to explain themselves in that way. But I also think that because they have been able and willing to do that... That is exactly what fostered a healthier community for their streams. And as a lurker and as someone who watches all of these streamers mostly through their RU-vid uploads, I find it incredibly beneficial for us to understand something that we don’t encounter day to day aside from these content creators. As late as it is for me to post this comment, I’m really just showing my appreciation. And I’m just using dr K’s voice as a little reminder for and for anyone who reads this strive to be a little more faithful and to have a little more naïveté because I think it can go a long way. All of these streamers and their mods demonstrate it by working through their jaded mentality and helping the community by bringing acceptance and hope to it . Much love
I heard this quote once, "Anyone can be evil in somebodies eyes, but that doesn't mean that their just bad." I feel like this is something everyone needs to remember. You can't be quick to judge someone off of one persons opinion. Theres three sides to every story; one persons, the others, and the truth.
Anita's comment about feeling like she is representing all women when she plays is so true. I also feel like this sometimes and it's awful because it seems like every mistake you make is dire and you just can't fail because you are not the only one who will get insulted as a result. That's why I prefer single-player games and try to avoid voice chats.
The Anita lady is really well spoken :O I only watch a couple of twitch streamers, and none of them are here, so I don't know much about the others, but I really liked her here, she seems very smart. Also I grew up playing games because my dad was always really into gaming, so my brother and I played Hexen, NFS, etc. with him since we were 3-4 years old, and since we only had each other, we'd play together, so we'd both play with barbies and we'd both play games. I'm now 25, and he's 24. He's challenger in League, and I prefer single player games but neither of us ever stopped playing. So I think it just comes down to how you grew up and what interests you were exposed to and developed. I'm also a physics student (my dad is responsible for that too, since we watched documentaries about universe when I was a kid and I decided to become an astrophysicist), so I'm used to being the only girl in the group and sexism doesn't get to me that much anymore, especially in gaming. I just turn to sarcasm. It would be nice if there was no reaction I get in Valorant or League if people hear my voice, instead of either telling me to go back to kitchen or ask me for my instagram.
I think it would be a good idea to get some the perspective of some of the commentary community (bowblax, augie, etc.) to get some of their opinions are about how they are perceived.
