Hey bro, my chiller once it got older (the same chiller), started to pull higher amps... After sometime (2 years), it eventually blew the #8 plug on my EB8 out. I would HIGHLY recommend a high voltage relay that the chiller would plug into and then the relay plugs into the EB8 bypassing the amp load on the EB8. PS thanks for all your help!
JBJ did a really good job with these chillers. Rarely ever had one fail at work or on clients tank. Nice to have with summer gearing up on us. Great video!
I have the same chiller and had it on the apex. It kept tripping the fuse on my energy bar. I also have a 1/4 horse chiller that it doesn’t trip the breaker.
I've been running the same size JBJ artica for the last 9+ months on my horse troughs that i keep in the garage during the central Texas summer and the only complaint is the noise, but even at that fortunately its in my garage so i only hear it if im working or working out. Awesome product no complaints on my end so far. Its also a gem for cooling my water change water as they are also in my garage. 1 hour (or less) w a pump in my 50 gallon drums and the temp for W/C water goes from 86 to 78.9. I think u made a solid purchase here.
To add my opinion on the chiller being indoor or out, the next new chiller I buy will go outside and I will build a small hut or buy something for it to go inside of. The salt in the air being inside has destroyed the condenser coil of the chiller. The aluminum starts to oxidized from the salt water eventually to the point where it just falls apart, worse over amping the compressor, blowing the EB8 #8 chiller plug for the apex. If your fuse keeps blowing, it's the compressor or less likely the fan motor. So lesson learned. Also I'm in Florida and location could play a factor too.
I had my JBJ fail in a year and a half using the Apex to turn it on and off. It could have been my unit which was replaced under warranty and it worked well until I got rid of it. I calibrated it and used the internal thermostat the 2nd time around. I wanted to keep my temp at 79 so the chiller kicked on at 8 brought the temp down to 78 then would let it drift back up to 80 and repeat.
The lights on the display were working this morning on my chiller but now they are not, does that mean the chiller is broken? The temperature according to my Apex Fusion setup is 77.7 does the chiller display turnoff after the temperature goes below 78 degrees?
Hello! So I have another question. If I didnt have an apex how could I use this? And I have A/C , would it really make a big difference to the temperature of the tank if it gets hot outside and j had windows open, I have 24gal does it affect it more.
Look into these ac units. They do not go on the window. Basically you just have to drill the wall, couse it comes with indoor and outdoor part. Very popular in Europe and pretty reliable. Better option than a chiller for sure, more reliable option! www.pioneerminisplit.com/products/12-000-btu-ductless-dc-inverter-mini-split-air-conditioner-heat-pump-115-vac
