did you find it had any phosphate leeching? I've had a few times where that rock gets LOADS of cyano on it, it eventually dies off, but i'd deffo cure with some rowaphos before putting into display just in case.

Maybe this would be good while cleaning hair algae but probably would be a bad ideal if left unattended. I could imagine seeing your fish getting stuck in the filter sock.

I put a relatively small amount of Neophos in my ATO just to make sure it doesn't bottom out. It's nice because you don't need to spend money on another doser.
I haven’t finished this yet but all for reef included all the trace elements. Removing that and not supplementing it might be less than ideal if you stop water changes.
I would bet that he was overdosing the All for Reef and it was precipitating out and that was the build up on the UV. Also the weird way he was doing his carx and kalkwasser wouldn't help the stability of alk. I've never dosed all for reef but I've certainly overdosed 2 part and seen the same build up on my quartz sleeve as well as heaters.
Everyone saying the Kessils are better… Might not be exactly correct! I’d bet that the Hyperreefs have less UV, and thus cause less color, but more growth. Let me explain… When you go outside, your skin gets red because the UV is damaging it. Then the skin tans, to protect itself for the next time. Same things with corals… but with pretty colors, not just a tan. The extra color is a defense mechanism against sunburn, basically. I’d wager that the coral increasing its pigment is sufficient to protect it from the excess UV… but that now becomes a little waste of PAR, blocked by the coral itself. The Hyperreefs are clearly keeping the zooxanthellae happy, which is why the coral had more growth under them. Me, personally… I would prefer the duller colored corals. I gave up the black light posters back in my mid-20’s. The duller corals still fluoresced and they got much better growth. Call me old school, but I still lean towards the natural reef look… with a bit of pizazz. So black light posters in my tank isn’t what I prefer. Neither is a glass bottom… but to each their own.
I agree… just sucks that it happened as I was waiting on a Trident NP and got lazy with weekly testing. Lessons learned from this experience and I’m looking at an opportunity to really get the SPS coral I want. My wife felt bad so she gave me a guilt free coral shopping spree to replace the colonies. 😂

Nice video, there’s a lot of value in having an outside set of eyes look at your system and provide some feedback. Particularly when the outside eyes know what they are talking about.
