I remember watching this tribute on tv, it was only a minute in and I just started crying. I think George Michael doesn’t get enough credit when it comes to naming greats. He was truly amazing, as an artist and as a person.
You won't forget him because he sang and wrote from a place where every artist desires to sing from. You felt his heart in his music and it still saddens me he died just like Prince did ... alone. I wish he could have channeled his sadness in the healthiest way which was to channel and create. But also the video of White Light may have been a foreshadowing of his death . Was it his intuition or was it chosen for him? The zebra in the video I'm sure is masonry symbolism of black & white means as above is down below. And him being shot near the heart foreshadows how he may die and it was his swan song. The music industry is darkness and George was the white light....a star.
@@gabrieltalavera4465 you have a great interpretation of the meaningful and great Artist he was. And I'll still keeping in my mind his music until I die
I cried the night the George died. I was half asleep next to my partner when our son phoned her and I heard him say that he had died, she put the phone away and turned over to go to sleep, I didn't, I silently cried myself to sleep. I loved George, went through my 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s listening, and loving his music. Any tribute from a great artist like Adelle is brilliant, well done Adelle. 5 years since we lost one, if not the, best british singer/songwriter in the last 40 years.
Fell in love with this man when I was 15 ,and now as a father of 4 gorgeous girls and 37 years later I still love and worship this total god of a man.. Miss you xx
George presented her with an award a few yrs back in London......She thought the world of him.......I just can't imagine how hard that was for her to dedicate this tribute to him......Adele, you were respectable to Michael for starting over and to yourself.....NEVER change.......
Thanks to Adele's rendition - the lyric just shone and showed how lonely George must have felt and was during the last years of his life... Without a soulmate... A tragedy... For his beautiful and sensitive soul... Bless you, George. I hope you are happier now up there with Anselmo and your mother and able to feel our love too.
Losing George is the saddest event of recent years..so unfair..God bless you George. A beautiful man with the most beautiful soul. His generosity was unbelievable, anonymously donated to so many charities and individuals. God bless him ♥️♥️♥️ will shall never forget him xx
You don't realise how poignant this song and its lyrics are until you hear it slowed down like this. Beautiful song from a beautiful man inside and out ♥
Yes, a song about desire , became a song about going into death ...'in the absence of security, I made my way into the night...' Both versions are valid.
By this song being upbeat George M. disguised his true feeling behind the beat.. when Adele slowed it down she was exposing the true feeling behind this song. George was amazing for this song and Adele gave him the correct tribute.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xBJRo4K3IvE.html I agree I have just covered this version... George was amazing and Adele did a beautiful job.. Very difficult for her xx
Yes she did. I also sang it and uploaded it but I erased it. I will do the real tempo but I had people coming in on me while I was singing it and without permission and they ruined it. This is absolutely beautiful and depicts George completely. What a true musician she is.
This is one of the most beautiful and accurate tributes I’ve ever seen, I’m so glad that we had her, I’m glad for George Michael existence, he was truly a genius, one of a kind, he was amazing.
The piano, the strings, the voice, the slowed down version of one of his most up beats songs.... pure perfection. A definite heartfelt and grueling good bye to one of the most legendary voices of my generation. Good bye, George. May divine light surround you and give you eternal peace. I will see you in the light, some day soon.
At first when I heard this I didn't like it and I do love Adele. Then I realized she was trying to highlight the lyrics and in the moment she sang it it was the right tempo for how we were all feeling and struggling with his sudden loss. It also reminds us to pay attention to George's lyrics which once again shows us yet again why he won multiple Ivor Novello awards for songwriting. I understand George and Adele were planning to record a song together that would have been so awesome. I am sure George is looking down though very happily with what she did with his beautiful heartfelt song. God we lost so much when George's light was extinguished but my goodness look what he left us. You're legacy is so very secure George just like you wanted. Thanks for everything ❤
Adele is a very British girl respecting the memory of George in a very British understated way. Absolute perfection performed in love. It would be totally unacceptable to turn his Grammy memorial into some upbeat dance number (as some comments have said) and offensive to his family. George has not even had his funeral yet! Adele chose his most loved song (in his homeland) and her cover was a masterpiece. A moving tribute.
Tom Carew I agree with you she adored him so much so she dressed up as him on her 27th birthday. I am also sure she consulted with his family about her choice of song and how best to honor his memory, but I am most happy she shed light on his pain as depicted by the lyrics because too often we never appreciate the challenges those in the spotlight face in their efforts to entertain us.
I couldn't agree more. I remember waiting for the beat to pick up but then I thought this is a tribute to a very beloved singer. I absolutely LOVE her version. RIP GM and job well done Adele.
Tom Carew speaking for myself I was not in an upbeat mood at that stage he had just died 2 months before that tribute an upbeat song wouldn't have been expressing how we all felt she did that with this song
I can remember the day of the tribute i was waiting for it to come on i was gonna watch with my mom she chickened out who can blame her she hates sad stuff and i preferred to be alone anyway my heart pounded before during and after it was beautiful
On the anniversary of this post ... Without trying to sound melodramatic nor particularly morbid ... Thought of you on 25/12/2021 George, as did many others who still miss you ...
Apologies. Never heard this rendition by Adele from the Grammys until now. Haven't heard a song that powerful in a while. Just. Wow. A truly honorable tribute to a dearly missed artist. Well done, Adele. R.i.P. - George
ADELE SOUNDED AMAZING. My mom loves George Michael he was and still is one of the main artist my mother loves. When my mom and saw this live holding her in my arms she began shaking and crying I was also moved to tears. Adele did amazing. Love Adele and George forever.
George Michael was a genius. Sadly, we only heard a small amount of his music. I hope one day it will be released. I miss George so much. Especially this time of year.
It made me cry watching GRAMMY last night ... George Michael's tribute, ... thanks Adele for honoring our brilliant and talented "LATE GEORGE MICHAEL".
It was absolutely beautiful. She captured a range of emotions in this tribute. The highs and lows. An emotional roller coaster in music. The intense longing, deep passion and grief. It's all there. Well done
This is a brilliant, heartfelt tribute to one of the greatest popstars ever. There is a documentary called Freedom on Channel 4 here in the UK (it's released by Sony music - quite a long doc but worth it, bring the tissues) where they ask him how he would like to be remembered and he gets all sheepish and says 'what people won't even remember me in 20 years time.' So sad that someone so so talented could think no one loved him enough or that he wasn't good enough when to his fans he was the greatest. Rest in peace George Michael you deserve it.
I m 62 and George has really been with me all my life. I m still sad at his untimely death and do wonder... I play his songs on the bus almost every day still. He is wrong he will always be remembered not just for his songwriting and as a singer, but as a kind human being who did so much for so many asking nothing in return. It wasnt a waste of time George...
Amazing talent lost. Even Adele can’t do his music as amazing as she is. He will never be replaced, same as Freddie Murcury. Beautiful man inside and out.
I heard Adele chose this song because it was the first one with which she fell in love with him and at the Grammy was the last time he could say goodbye. I have to say that Adele was amazing. I think I like the fact she chose to play "Fast love" in this very sad way because George Michael has not put down to rest yet. I think it was respectful for his family (dad and two sisters in particular) and close friends. He still need a proper funeral so, I 100% agree with the mournful way this song was changed. A way to release our sorrow. Another tribute/concert after his funeral would probably be done.
Adele carried his sorrow in a way I have never witnessed, these lyrics are soul wrenchingly tragic. I can’t fathom such a loss of love that any relationship never fulfils a companion and having to live with an eternal ache for the one you loved 😣 George hid it so well, god rest his gentle loving soul.
To all those who criticised Adele to this arrangement, I can understand all of your explanations, some of which are actually valid, BUT here is the bottom line, her version of Fastlove captured what George carried to the very last day of his life... the sorrow for the loss of Anselmo, his baby. He missed his baby.
Correct. Absolutely my sentiments and perfection interpretation of a unique and beautiful song from a unique and special man....I love you George xxxx😢😢😢
spot on. the sorrow is there. and the tribute to GM as well by stopping the "polite" version of and starting all over with the George's one with the word "bullshit".
This was a very bad way to show it. It was a song about cruising and even though I really like the song was NOT the appropriate song for a tribute after someone has passed. George had a vast array of songs she could have chosen. This was definitely NOT the right one and to turn Fast Love into a funeral dirge was in complete lack of taste.
Why George? Why did you leave us so early? It didn't have to be that way - you have left an emptiness that cannot be filled - your songs and talent touched the lives of millions.
I still come here after all these years to enjoy a talent gone way too soon. George Michael’s voice and talent were exceptional and one of our great artists of his generation.
I feel like Americans are so used to singers having constant vocal runs to show that they’re good singer. Adele here created a haunting space for reflection and tribute of the death of an absolute legend in the industry. The orchestral arrangement was absolutely incredible. She was a bit pitchy but even she said so herself. It doesn’t take an expert to know full well that this would have sounded almost perfect live, whereas recordings can be very very unforgiving to the slightest “flaw”
Тот случай когда неважна личная жизнь певца, главное его творчество, его бешеная харизма притягивает зрителей, как магнитом, его доброта, милосердие никогда не забудется, вечная память замечательному певцу и человеку Джорджу Майклу.
I love Adele more every time i see her and i cant think of anyone else that could honour George’s music the way she does here. Amazing. And heartbreakingly beautiful. GeorgeXAdele
I can’t stop listening to this, I was 14 yo when I was blessed to see George & Andy… at Whitley Bay… the day before Last Christmas was premiered on Radio 1…. I’d never have foreseen we would have similar paths,,,,,,,,, yet I’m still here, and I think of him, and miss him everyday 💗
I cried through the whole thing. What a beautiful man and so amazing and talented . Adele did such a fantastic tribute , I have never seen such a wonderful tribute to a artist that has passed , I really felt her emotion and love for him .
What a beautiful human he was. When the showed aired live, Adele started singing and then actually asked to start over...... she wanted it to be perfect and it was ❤
@Antonia Rodriguez yes.... GM is the love of my life...His talent, soul and sensitivity has touched me so deeply and stolen my heart. His angelic voice is the most amazing voice I've ever heard.... I know that people don't appreciate this tribute, cause He was so much better than that and deserve more, but Adele left the stage with tears in her eyes. And I believed her when she sang his words "I miss my Baby"...
eMMusical I agree with Antonia. And adele should have chosen a different song than this. It was a too big risk to take. And not a good enough one. This is my opinion.
I am crying now for the loss of one of the kindest, most beautiful talented people we have been so blessed to have known. RIP Georgie M. Thank you Adele. xx
Гениальный и замечательный композитор ,музыкант и певец ,талантливый и умный человек Джордж Майкл ,с доброй душой и обаятельный мужчина ,светлая и вечная память великолепному творчеству этого человека !Браво !!
Two of my fav singers and songwriters. Adele choose this song because it was the song she fell in love with George. Absolutely beautiful, touching and heartfelt. I cried and all in my family did
This is one of the only songs that can bring me to tears . So amazing the way she slowed the song down and made it so emotional. George was so talented, an icon also such a generous man ❤️❤️
I love the way that when she restarted, she actually said 'All that' bullshit' conversation' rather than 'useless'. If u gonna do it, do it proper. Love this so much. So emotional...... RIP George boy. We love ya!
Adele has really nailed this tribute to our wonderful GEORGE. I'm sure he loves it because whenever he covered someone else's song he gave him own version of it AND that is exactly what Adele has done. Perfection Adele.
Merci Adèle pour ce magnifique hommage à un chanteur qui a emporté avec lui notre insouciance et le meilleur de la pop anglaise. Merci George pour ton héritage, mais tu n es plus là .. pourquoi ? La vie est trop injuste
One of the few artists who, despite mastering impressive vocal technique, always sings his heart. Not showing off, just singing your heart. Sometimes it seems like he sings to himself, not to an audience, he's just lost in music. And it deeply cuts our hearts.
I can’t stop replaying this. I wish she would do an actual remake of this song (same tempo, vocals, and emotion as this tribute) and put it on an album
Absolutely beautiful imo. I cry every time. I feel every word. Every note. She did him proud. Such a new appreciation for this song. I've sang it, knew the lyrics but never received the message. I think she did an amazing job and he would be proud of her.
marialaura cassiano I know. it's one of his grooves. she is not as talented as what people say. she sings the same style always... always rear jerkers or modern day agreesive ballads. she clearly dunno her George material. she'd be better off with with "a different corner" or "father figure".
faster love was her favorite/first song of GM. I agree that different corner or one more try and also praying for time would be better for her voice. But still a compliment for Adele for this, If you had heard the tribute by dutch singers at Paradiso Amsterdam for GM....oh my God, that was bad. But George Michael sings so good, no one can replace him.
Shirley Verboon George seemed to just be able to make average songs good too. I hate Freddie Mercury. When George front them in the early 90s. I though Queen was good!
Adele, this a beautiful tribute to the amazing musician George Michael ❤️ ♥️, You are a sweet soul and your voice just captures the moment so elegantl with style and class,George Michael is smiling down from heaven now and is well pleased at the artist whose paying tribute to him🎉🎉
До слез... реально трогательное исполнение. Светлая память безмерно талантливому и глубоко несчастному певцу. Покойся с миром, прекрасный Джордж Майкл ...
😢 Sympathy greetings from coastal Mississippi. My dear George, your friendship meant a great deal to me. I appreciated your kindness and generosity.I am not saying goodbye, just goodnight. I will see you again when you wake. ❤
This is the pinnacle of music , the music that made you dream, believe gave you a chance made you leave reality and be in the moment. This was George Michael.
This unique and special version took me right back to the rawness of it all...hearing the imbelirvesble news, not beieing able to register, equate, accept nor understand still so painful. ..disbelief our beautiful man has left early to go home xxx😢😢😢😢😢😢😢. This man's integrity, humanity and strength still completely envelops me to this day and I don't know when I will make peace with the loss of someone who we felt we knew because he shared his deepest emotions, high n lows of his life which we can all equate with on some level. Thank you George Michael . You have and remain sincerely loved in our heart always and forever. Xxx❤❤❤❤ 2019 xxxxxxx
the best concert ive seen to date George Michael.. played 45 minutes over for everyone in Dublin that June day a total gent, appreciated his fans even after 30 years.. Some of them today with half his talent could take a leaf out of his book.. a total legend.
I have never judged GM because I have always loved and respected him for the absolutely beautiful man he truly was. ...I miss him so very much. He still heals my soul and settles my mind . Thank you Dear ONE . YOU ARE STILL SO Sorely, COMPLETELY AND TRULY LOVED AND THAT'S FROM MY HEART TO YOURSELF. ALWAYS AND FOREVER😢❤😢❤ Thank you George for being you and always true to yourself. A lesson for us all. Thanks Adele, powerful and meaningful...tears, still xxx😢😢😢 2019 .....xxx
We will see other tributes to George in the weeks to come when he is finally put to rest. Emotions are still very raw. Adele's tribute was beautiful. George would have loved it I'm sure.
