Just recently bought your soil from HD for my desert rose. I must say it is some really great soil. I love how fast draining it is and allows me to water more often. Will definitely be my go to soil from now on.

Can you do a video explaining why container size matters? I just repotted one into a very shallow beautiful pot however, it has about 4” of extra expanse ALL around. Will it make the caudex grow bigger? Or only longer branches? Thank you! Teresa from Vero Beach, FL

I can’t believe you water it everyday….? I was told not to water them more than one a week. Question, does it matter that you have it in ‘rocks”? In other words, if I have them in a chunky dirt mix, how often should I water them during summer? I also have some in river rock that I was watering once every 10 days. I feel so bad I starved it. It actually look really healthy and getting ready to bloom again. Thank you for you time.

Can your all purpose mix be used alone or would you recommend I amend it for better results?(I should add I live in the low Sonoran desert, so very hot and dry)
@WeareTheBonsaiSupply

Use it as is. it is ready to go out the bag. mixing it with other aggregates or soils would defeat the purpose. 🙂

I have very weird Adeniums in my collection. One in form of a tower, and the other is as wide a possible. And they both are refusing to grow unless I'm overwatering them. They are literally sitting in mud and blooming.
@WeareTheBonsaiSupply
@WeareTheBonsaiSupply 3 года назад
Hey Paul, Those are most likely imports from Thailand. Imported adeniums always struggle to adjust to the states since the climate is very different. I suggest you repot them both into our bonsai soil and give them time to recover. One of my big adeniums took 2 years to adjust.

So generally speaking, use a very draining, slightly acidic soil. I use a combination of potting soil, perlite, sand, lava rocks, and crushed up pine bark nuggets. Very well crushed Pine bark is great for the soil of this type of plant. I put this in a layer on top of a base layer of well draining lava rocks and sand in the bottom of the pot. The 2 layer system works well, as the soil drains at the bottom and prevents issues with root-rot or over-watering.

Hey Mat! Water more frequently. Keep the soil a little moist and never let it dry out completely unless you are planning to repot, or have it go dormant.

@danielcluley870
@danielcluley870 2 года назад
@@fr.Loukas That was likely due to damaging the roots. Pumice soil is sharp, and can induce wounds in the roots of adenium that make it vulnerable to root-rot. Root-rot is the main killer of adenium, due to overwatering or infection. It is hard to kill an adenium from neglect.
@danielcluley870
@danielcluley870 2 года назад
This channel is exactly right in everything they tell you, although it is biased toward diligent and regular maintenance of plants in order to achieve aesthetically pleasing results. It is not necessary to do everything here. This is mostly just for good aesthetics. For a healthy plant, you should get your soil right and a regular maintenance routine, with watering and pruning. I would like to see a couple of videos for Idiots like me for the best way "not to kill" our plants.
