Found this so helpful as someone who's been trying to get on board with GTD for over a decade and is only just realising I have ADHD. I've been going 'all or nothing' at it. Thank you so much!

What date was this published? YT in laptop browser isn't telling me. But phone app says 2019-11-19

Dang, came here hoping specifically for how to deal with the tendency to never trash things/accumulate infinite tasks that become increasingly hard to wade through for what's important.

Getting Things Done (GTD) is the exact opposite of most of what's explained in this video. GTD is not at all about making a task master list and then prioritize tasks to decide what to do today. It's all about capturing everything that has your attention, clarify what everything is (or means), decide what the next actionable tasks needed are, and organize those by context, not by date or priority. I wonder if Main has read the book, or even if she's taken any time to understand the system at all. It all sounds like a totally different productivity system.

I’m going to try the three different categories. Could someone point me to a bulleted breakdown of this?

19 min long vid for someone with ADHD

ADHD does not necessarily mean very small "flea size" attention span everyone expresses differently. Some people with ADHD enjoy watching a 19 min video if they like the content.

x1.5 initially then higher once you've adapted to it. Plus stop and rewind 5 sec replay etc.

I've found that a strategy is to engage with a client, and stay with them as they process - one thing. Any thing. Integrate the GTD methodology in real time, as it happens. Somewhat similar to Motivational Interviewing. Listening, reflecting, master summary, integration of a GTD element, noticing the shift that just occurred, processing that.

TL;DR -> where are the actual tips for ADHDers to apply GTD? "Trusted system" is always the hangup for me. I can list, organize, sort, all the things, and still not DO. GTD should be called "GRTGTD - Getting Ready to Get Things Done" - getting ready isn't the issue for and ADHDer like me . . . ACTUALLY DOING is the problem. I'm a bit disappointed in this video because 1) it didn't really do justice to what GTD is all about (this was basically just the 4D method of sorting and loose commentary on contexts) and 2) I specifically came here for tips on how to apply GTD for ADHD, and got nothing on actually how to get to the DONE part, the DOING. That's what I'd like to see in an ADHD video on GTD. I've read GTD, I've applied the system, the problem is it being a "trusted system". You don't trust "systems", you trust people. And, in this case, to trust the system is to trust myself, to actually do reviews and do the work, but my ADHD prevents that and the GTD system has no insights other than "be disciplined" (oh, if it were that easy). Back on the hunt for actual ADHD friendly tips for using GTD. Thanks for taking the time and trying, though.

Let me know if you round something. I'm currently looking at using TickTick as you can add an estimate for the time you think it will take and set a timer when doing that task. It also has an Isenhour matrix (think I spelt that wrong) to know what to do.

I have ADHD too and I use the GTD method. The only real moment where I have to be disciplined is the weekly review. So I made a "protocol" of what to do for the weekly review, and i tried to optimize it as most as possible, repeating my actions, so that it was perfectly logical and clear at the end. Once I did this, it was way easier. For the problem of doing the work or initiate it, I think this is not the purpose of the method. I think medication and psychotherapies are more appropriate. Besides, I always though that "Getting things done" was a bad title too ^^
