I've never been diagnosed but I have all those problems that you say. I'm a very low energy person so. saying it's a little harder to diagnose girls or the quiet person who day dreams all day. I'm struggling to get by each day. Feel I can't accomplish anything. I see these people doing stuff with their kids, bringing them to sports doing the school stuff, And then still hanging out with friends it's doing housework cooking cooking and working a job. And I'm over here just cling to keep the dishes done. Trying to figure out how to get the laundry all sorted and the house organized goodized every day the same. I might get a tiny bit figured out on one section, but then the rest of the house gets completely destroyed in the process. The only sense of accomplishment and control I feel right now, is growing my fingernails. Which I'm a nail biter so growing my fingernails is a big accomplishment for me. But due to prices of everything I can't even control what I get to eat.

Hey Lex, thanks for that. As a man in his fifties, undiagnosed until recently, I would concur with everything you said. I would also add that the common perception is that ADHD doesn't get worse with age but various studies have shown that dopamine levels fall by about 10% with each decade so it seems logical (given the link between dopamine and ADHD) that the condition does get worse as we age. That is certainly my experience.

My experience is the same it gets worse with age

@@Miss_Annlaug I also think that the repository of historical failure only grows as we age compounding the issue, but one does not, I think, exclude the other.

Yesterday I had a hard time at work when it was supposed to be a relaxed day, it was like I was getting so much things thrown at me at once, I was triying to do evrithing at the same time and felt it imposible to organize myself. I felt like I was falling behind as my peers seemed to do just fine. I got diagnosed last year but due to not being able to see a Dr due to my insurance change I havent been able to get medication that I was supposed to start getting with my last provider. Dr appointmens are 5 months wait time and im finnaly seeing the Dr next month. But thanks to people like you I got to see that there were people that felt and experienced life the same way as I do, with the emotional disregulation, the masking, the feeling of being so lost that I just dont talk and everyone just knows me as the quiet girl but im just too afraid of embarasing myself. To end this, thank you so much for this video I really needed to hear this today.

It's a gift to be sensitive and aware, but it's hard in such an insane insensitive world/ whirl

Im a woman diagnosed with adhd hyperactive type and even my psychiatrist said the name sucks because as a woman I don't present as "hyperactive" im actually very low energy and procrastinate a lot. But it presents as high impulsiveness, emotional dysregulation, disruptiveness, talking over others, impatience, ect

Lex, you’re one of the few people in the world that make me feel less alone just because we have most problems in common, at least the ones spoken of course. Stay strong. ❤️

Was diagnosed as a child but didn't like the pschiatrist I was working with. Instead of going to another one, my mum thought it would simply go away. My dad never fully paid attention to such things so after my mum died, it just became a thing that festered and grew into something I was and am still struggling with to this day because my diagnosis became something to be rediscovered by me, my therapist and a talk with my dad about the diagnosis I was given back in the day. So now I'm in the process of learning how to live with the ADHD I've had all of my life and trying to live and work with the emotional dysregulation and the rejection sensitive dysphoria you mentioned. It is a step by step thing and admittedly ADHD has been a part of why I struggle to function around people and somehow always seem to be saying the wrong thing at the wrong time etc. but it is a work in progress. Somehow nice to know there are others out there who feel the same and struggle in similar ways.

Organizing my life/work will always be the hardest struggle for me. I often argue about that with my family because they think my behavior is not normal, that I am not normal... Thank you for your videos, watching them always helps me so much ❤

I can 100 percent relate to ALL of this. I have had a growing and suffocating sense of being behind and not being able to complete tasks and adapt to the environment I'm trying to function inside of.

Thanks for your words here Lex! I was diagnosed with adult adhd a few months ago and also an INFP. I can relate a lot to yourself and you put into words what I can’t. Thank you!

A really great friend of mine got diagnosed as an adult recently. He was pretty shocked by the news and wasn't sure how to process it. He's doing much better now though, I think he's learning to accept it, and reframe the self judgement into self understanding.

I can't imagine how hard being a parent with adhd is as well. I'm glad I got a vasectomy after chosing not to have biological children, but if I'm in a stable place and happy with a sustainable career one day, I may adopt

I love watching your ADHD content! As usual, your trademark vulnerable sensitive insight encapsulates beautifully your very human struggles. It's so easy to relate to your thoughts and feelings ❤️ Diagnosed at 42 here. 2 years later after meds and off meds and wondering how I'll ever get anything done again... The incongruence from being so AMAZING at things and being so TERRIBLE at things (required adulting) so a constant struggle. The urge to isolate is hard to fight... and I'm an ENFP.... ekkk! Thanks for sharing you Beautiful Human(ist) 🙏

I’m a 21 year old male (Gen Z) and most of everything you said spoke to me personally. I was actually diagnosed when I was probably 7 and school was definitely a struggle for me especially since I used to have IEPS, didn’t bother me that much until I got into high school because that’s when I started to really want to fit in with everyone even though I didn’t and I became very self conscious and insecure during that time and now I’m just trying to accept myself instead of feel embarrassed about how I am. Thank you for this vid Lex.

For me the problem solving isn’t so difficult. What is difficult is the social awkwardness of dealing with some people’s problems sometimes. As communicating effectively without hurting the person even if not intentionally isn’t always something i can do. When you’re really good at something, others start to have high expectations of you and end up disappointed if you then suddenly can’t reciprocate well with them. That’s the headache of it all for me.

ADHD didn't "exist" when I was a kid and it wasn't talked about. I was not diagnosed as a child. As an adult I was diagnosed with bipolar but it turns out its ADHD

They are starting to connect with the analysis of genetic groups and multidisciplinary studies, but at some point we will be clearly explained the origin of this genetic type and the relationship between empaths, ADHD, autism, gifted, star seeds and some personalities like infp. practically the same functions practical, cognitive for both groups. sometimes it is impossible to differentiate if you are an empath, adhd, infp, gifted, procratinator, imaginative, creative, intuitive, or hyperfocused because everything must be part of a single thing that presents itself in slightly different ways in each person.

It feels like my mind is spread out between a multi dimensional cobweb, a cobweb interlaced with backdoors, dead ends, and binary functioning sections as the destination if getting caught into the loop section. The multiple dimensions of binary yet infinitely vast emotions and decisions of life leave me stuck in the cobweb. Stuck in place, running and running and running, but not getting anywhere.

I feel like you’re the same person as me..INFP and Adhd? Of course we are all unique. I just bought a new laptop for my productivity and I realised they have Solitaire and I haven’t played in ages, so why not play a game or 2… … I played for 6 hours straight. Not alright…That’s why I can’t never play games. And if I do something productive it happens too…I can’t seem to switch easily between tasks.

I think ADHD is on a spectrum so I can't speak for everyone. I have the kind of challenges Lex has. My main challenges are making frequent small mistakes and forgetfulness and the fear of judgement of this and procrastination for doing menial tasks which includes my job. It's stands out because people judge me for this whereas others don't experience this to the same level. It's had a very negative impact on me. However, I have a supportive workplace and home environment so I'm coping ok. I think it's a real phenomena but I don't like the label ADHD. Partly because these are symptoms lumped together and classified as a disorder. Whereas I think they are the result of a type of awareness or consciousness. I say this because I'm highly sensitive because I'm very intuitive. I sense people's emotions in a room more than others. I feel emotions more strongly than others. I think very quickly, like time stands still and make leaps of logic arriving at conclusions others can't see. I'm very aware of my environment, so am connecting with people around me emotionally and physically which makes me approachable and others feel appreciated. It makes me good with working with people. I'm very energetic and good at motivating snd exciting people, I'm very charismatic. Essentially my kind of awareness/consciousness is different to the neurotypical person and it has some great advantages. However, I believe these come with side effects, the kind of downsides I mentioned. For some people who can't handle it, the negatives, they can become quite depressed and confused. You need a supportive environment and tons of self love. I don't know what it's like to have bipolar. However, the ADHD phenomena is a real thing but a type of person, not a disorder unless you can't handle it. Neurotypical people (normal people) have downsides too. I find they can be relatively a little unimaginative and prioritise things that are trivial to me. They can't see the big picture as easily or innovate in the same way. So effectively they are limited by the their brains. Nobody calls this a disorder but these are negative side effects. What is normal really? So I don't agree it's a disorder in a balanced 'ADHD' individual.

Man My mum when I turned 20 told me about ADHD and that I was diagnosed with it at 5 years of age. For 15 years I had no fucking Idea what ADHD was and yes ADHD is not an excuse because everything I felt as a teenager I took it as a normal thing nothing special. Stop being soo sensitive, adhd people are not different but the same as anyone else.
