Great info! I started out with Barge cement--like Bostik, was Toulene based. Until I had some lessons from an instructor who noted many of her leatherworker friends developed liver cancer... Yikes. Didn't like the toulene-free version. But switched to Fieblings white cement & a couple years ago learned about Renia Aquilim 315--likely about the same as what you use now, too. And for the glue spreader you show in use--after spending $5-$8 at leather supply stores, found the exact same thing (apart from colors) in my local "Dollar" store packaged as a facial masque applicator! (Pieces of firm leather scrap work well with the white cement, too).

Thank you Jo! I have heard that Ecostick 1816B will lose (some/all) of its adhesive properties if the glue has been frozen prior to application. So if you live anywhere that temps drop below freezing--don't order it in winter.

Good info, the trust that own the building where I am based are ment to be installing proper secondary glazing and ceiling insulation this year 🤞🤞🤞 so hopefully by the time things get colder the workshop will be ok

Very informative video Jo, great helpful links to source these very useful items. I'm going to have to change glue as in the winter I'm nervouse using solvent based glue when I've got the log burner on. Very thin reinforcing tape had been hard for me to find also. Its great that you have looked at health and safety. Its our own responsibility but a reminder helps.

No worries John, I know I've been a bit slack on my health and safety when using glue in the past which was a big push for me to change and the ecostick seems to fit my needs, though I will be getting a hotgun to help speed up the drying time 👍

Great timing. I recently purchased the Ecostick 1816B, not had the chance to use it yet.

I am really enjoying using it 👍 might purchase a heat gun though as a way to speed up the time for it to go sticky, been holding it over my crease heater at the moment

I'm in Australia, so while we have some of the same products, we also have some different (local) products. Whilst I have some years ago used natural hide glue, it's not the easiest to get and I don't have the time to make it.

Hello, what should I use to turn the leather into a cylinder shape? (cigar case) other than wet molding.

Why not just use fans? One in the door way blowing air Into the room n the other fan in the window blowing the air outside. It's wat I do n it always works great. HOWEVER u CANT use those tiny table top fans. At the VERY least u need standing fan atleast 18inch. So now I don't have to use a respirator mask cuz the airflow is great

Hi! Your video was very informative. I have a quick question. Since I am new to the leathercraft, what can I use for totebag handle reinforcement since non stretch tape is not available anywhere in India and from etsy it is taking 2 months to deliver. Thanks

great info thank you . how do you stop _start a sew project .say tou need several feet of thread and dont want to handle that length, thanks again

I do one and a half back stitched and then start a new thread. Depending on what you are making you can do more if you feel you need to. I always use a double arm's length of thread as it's the most manageable size 👍
