Super little video Howard on something we come across in most lessons everyday. I liked the way you adapted the plan following the mistakes which your pupil made. I also liked the way you got your pupil to self analyse and come up with her own solutions (with just a bit of prompting). Keep those videos rolling please - they're so helpful

The traffic light situation was interesting. If it was quite closed, I would still show caution. So many drivers ignore these temporary lights especially in quite roads. I have also never seen a two way road marked like that with the double giveway lines across the whole width of the road. That is how it should be marked if its a one-way. Id love to hear the logic from road planners for this 🤨.

Hi Howard, I am completely confused by the Giveway lines at the end of the 2 way street? I have never seen this and always say to my learners that if they see double giveaway lines on the right, then they are on a one-way street. Please can you clarify this for me! 🤔

@christineadams5988
@christineadams5988 Год назад
@How-2-Drive Why? Is there a reason to do this? Like your lady, I find that a unnecessary confusion that shouldn't be there and is creating a massive hazard and a high possibility of an accident!

Sorry but she shouldn't be on the road. Almost hit the parked vehicle, tried to go through a gap that wasn't there, no mirrors when slowing, too fast (didn't seem to really show that she was going to change her habits) and a general attitude of being unaware of other road users.

Some junctions have double give way lines, some don’t. My drawing was just to illustrate the junction we’d just done with the position of the parked car opposite, you didn’t miss too much. I hope that helps you.

Hi Howard, thank you for this video. Can I ask please, on a standard check, would it be considered ok to stop as much as you did, to discuss the situation? There's so much info out there that now suggests only pulling up if it's critical, discuss on the move. Keep wheels turning etc etc. Would love to know your opinion on this please. Thank you.
@davidmerrill2154
@davidmerrill2154 Год назад
That’s a good point you made Jane. I’m my opinion if this was standard check I would stop the pupil due to the fact it was a critical safety issue and the danger created needed a full chat and explanation from Howard to the would be pupil rather than on the move .
@How-2-drive
@How-2-drive Год назад
Yes you can pull up to deal with a safety critical, help the pupil understand or change the plan. You should keep it to the point and get moving asap. During COVID we had to keep the wheels moving for ventilation as there were 3 in the car

Heyyy H, I was wondering during the part 3 is it a necessity to get the student to pull up or can this be done whilst their driving? Also, it seems like we have to always endgame with the student + risk analysis!
@How-2-drive
@How-2-drive 9 месяцев назад
Keep wheels moving if you’re able to. Sometimes a simple question like, why did you signal right to go ahead at the roundabout. See what they say. Get to root cause and then work with your pupil on possible solutions. If you need to pull up, find somewhere for your pupil so you can have a conversation.
