Have tracked down a UK 13.5 in the RC Elite v2 - in white not purple. So can give my verdict soon but suspect may well agree on the Adios Pro 2 being best bet especially have seem to got over my initial instability concerns. The Boston 10 was a disappointment for me. Maybe good for weight training and it is very firm but after a few runs found it an OK cruiser but not sure why I would reach for it over say Endorphin Pro when about 80g heavier. Boston 10 sort of reminded me of a cross between a Zoom Fly 3 and Pegasus and they were far from my favourites.
Lol my 2 favorite shoes for marathon to 50k, 👞, RC elite 2 for extreme comfort with good speed and Adizero pro 2 for speed at marathon distances. I took that chance at Boston last month April 2022 at the expo, did 2 easy runs before the marathon, absolutely amazed how Adizero pro 2.0 was equal to next % for marathon !
I like both edd, but it’s all our own opinions at the end of the day, rc elite v2 is for me faster on tempo days for me,and also I can use at a slower pace if need be, which makes it a more versatile race day shoe, the FUELCELL is lush more forgiving at longer distances than the pro2, but they are both good IMO , great video as normal .
The rc elite 2 has the best lockdown I have encountered in a long while. A touch too soft maybe but it can handle everything from a recovery session to a fast speed one. Very (!) versatile. A lot more stable than than adios pro 2. I give the nod to the RC v2. :)
Hi Ed. I raced a 10k in the adios pro 2 last Sunday and ran 42:25 (age 65) which was only 1 sec quicker than a 10k last December in endorphin speed both fairly flat courses. I have the rc elite v2 and didn't know which to run in but after doing a tempo session in both I feel the rc elite v2 is more suited to a HM or longer. Now I have a question, Do these super shoes really make any difference to anyone running over 6min pace? I ran 7 10ks in 2019 aged 63 and I ran all in under 42 mins and at that time we didn't have all these super shoes available to the general public like now so I don't think they help us tortoises very much. My races and shoes were: 1 x 10k in Brooks launch 5 1 x 10k in Brooks Revel 2 2 x 10k in Nike turbo 2 (best time (41:19 @ Leeds) 2 x 10k in Hoka Rincon 1 x 10k in hoka Mach 2 And I ran a qualifying masters HM at Fleet in March 2019 in Brooks Revel 2 in 01:28:08 a pb since turning 60. So you see not exactly supershoes and the Revel, mach, and Rincon I don't even have now and wouldn't never consider them for racing or even buying. It's MY opinion after these and recent race times that marketing is doing a very good job in brain washing us into thinking they make a difference but all they do with the much better midsole is to stop the legs from getting beaten up. I've just purchased the Adidas Adizero Pro v1 (not adios) And Adidas adizero rc 3 both shoes are lighter than Pro v2 and lower stack so more ground feel, I'll see how I get on. I might even race my next 10k (1st aug) in Puma liberate nitro a lovely shoe. Sorry it's long winded but needed to explain. Roger.
From my experience here in Australia, adidas shoes are consistently more expensive than New Balance (Pro 2 is $360, RC Elite 2 is $320) and NB give bigger discounts too. Might be a factor behind why I prefer NB generally over adidas.
Disappointed by the Boston 10 just opening the box? Should have trusted your gut... It took me few seconds at the store to grab them, touch them, return them... I think NB dropped the ball with this show. Thanks for another great video!
Hi Edd, thx a lot as always - and as an Adios Pro 1 fan I am not surprised by your verdict. The aspect of weight gain due to absorption on moisture is very interesting....I was flirting with the idea to get the RC Elite v2, but I don't like this feeling of sinking into the midsole, thus the ADP keeps the throne ;-)
Put 10 mi ooh the Boston 10s. Seemed like the last few miles the midsole started to open up a bit. The upper fit like a glove which is nice. Too heavy to race in but cruises nicely for 10 miles. I bought the Pro2s at the same time and I feel like these 2 will pair up well for training v racing
Having run a bit in the Varporfly Next%, Alphafly Next%, and Tempo Next%, I had high hopes when I got the Adios Pro V1. I liked just about everything about it with the exception of the energy rods. I don't know if anyone else had this issue, but I could feel the rods under foot, and not in a good way. They created longitudinal hot spots along the length of my forefoot. Nothing I've tried yet has created the sensation of the shoe driving the user to the next stride and asking to be pushed harder and faster than the Alphafly. That shoe just feels like it's preserving/generating more forward momentum. I was disappointed with the durability though, especially through the rear portion of the midsole/outsole. I had hoped that the Tempo would offer elements of that feel with more durability, but it didn't feel like it shared any DNA with the Alphafly.
I prefer the softness of the fuelcell foam over Lightstrike pro any day. I did enjoy the Adidas adizero adios pro v1 but stability was lacking and the foam was too firm. Some people prefer brown bread and some prefer white bread however. Engerrrrland and all that too.
I have both of these shoes and I agree with nearly all the points made, except for I don't think the Adidas has great traction on wet pavement. The Adidas feels snappier for faster running, but the New Balance does nicely support a faster pace. I will probably use the Adidas for my "A" races and the New Balance for my "B" races or tune-ups.
AAPro2 👍. Returned the Nike invincibles(ripped foam) to fund my red stripes. Really enjoyed Pro2's so far got a nice gentle soft spring to them. Have a touch of banana feet to them (turned up) not as squishy as invincibles but similiar energy return. I realky like them and the lightstrike seems much stronger than zoomx.
I agree that the pro 2 is definitely firm and definitely responsive. I'm going to review the pro 2. It's out of my league. Definitely power hungry and asks for a bit more than I can give it.. Perfect! Lol I can barely run in it anything slower than my race and threshold pace.
Boston 10 disappointing like the first time you drank Pepsi clear! Well I haven’t acquired a pair yet and probably won’t as it just doesn’t make sense. With the Adios 6 and the prime X with the Adios pro 2 the Boston 10 really feels like an afterthought. Well great job as always EDD! 👊👊👊
@@EDDBUD love how the upper of the adios p2 looks. Looks super breathable. But I think the RC e2 still wins it for me with the wider width and greater versatility.
IMO the adios pro 2 is actually softer as step in feel..when running the adios pro has quicker rebound..the pro is quite squishy/unstable when walking..the pro is faster up to 10mi so far..time will tell if it can stand up to the RC elite 2 in long run comfort..so far I can say that both are a step above the next% in every way..
Tempted on trying the adidas aap2, but the narrow fitting with adidas shoes added to my concern that Lightstrike might be too firm for me other than on shorter distances and that it's only available in the white colourway will probably mean that I pass on it again. Need to add some daily shoes to my rotation at the moment and possibly some non plated speed shoes and I wouldn't mind getting the Craft CTM Ultra as a mixed terrain option too. Enjoying what the NB RC Elite v2 and 361 Flame are currently giving me as Carbon options but would maybe like to try at least one other.
Thank you so much. Thank you so much for providing these amazing reviews. Can you add 20lbs, and reduce your speeds by about 2 minutes per mile so that you are running just like me in your reviews...lol
Damn you Edd, I just ordered the Adios Pro 2. I had a new pair of vaporfly 2 show up today. Strangely they don't have that wow factor that I remember from my first pair. To me the plate doesn't feel as springy. I'm also considering buying the Asics metaspeed edge to compare to the sky. I to was disappointed in the Boston and that rim of foam. Mine are just sitting in the box, they 7.8 oz
Damn you Adidas ! i already got the Asics metaspeedsky .............. seems like a waste and very expensive to have 2 super shoes (especially when they will have limited use due to how thin the outsole is) . But i missed the first iteration (which was what i originally wanted) because of availability and since the 2 is more attainable and after hearing your review while balancing the other respected reviewers (RM sam) .............im curious about it . But that can also be my addiction to new shoes talking.
Glad you value my opinion too! I think it all depends on how we are built and how we run. I just find the lacing system a bit weird and I do find the shoe unstable. I do agree though, that the shoe is a fast shoe in that respect
@@Runningmansam im not sure if they keep a limited stock over here . I just dont want to kick myself if i miss out. But that unstable feeling you have (being a built runner), and "the wife " is keeping me from pulling the trigger . If its like invincible unstable in slower paces,or during walking .......then i might pass
@@macoyupadoodle I know Tim who’s quite tall (but more slender) probably found it quite unstable. I think the bigger built you are the more unstable this is I really do. I think the adios pro is much less stable than the sky maybe a tiny bit more responsive, I love the sky but the only issue I have is that the upper sometimes rubs… do you have this issue? I feel like if they changed the upper on the metaspeed sky it would be awesome.
@@Runningmansam The sky upper i find ok as i do adjust the type of socks i use . I changed the laces of the sky with the laces of the magic speed though and used the extra laces of my prime boost (1st gen) on the Magic . So kept the OG laces of the sky in a drawer as backup (just in case) . My feet are full of calluses due to martial arts , and running so texture is not up there with requirements, though a plush upper i welcome, the weight penalty is something i do mind. (Always loved light shoes then boost came into the scene.) Now that im over the boost phase i went back to light shoes.
I must agree with you Ed. I tested the Adios Pro 2 today. During the warm up, I thought oh no this shoe is too firm. When I sped up, the midsole really opens up! What a joy to run in -- hard pressed on next% vs. the adios pro 2. RC Elite 2 will be a great long run (with stuff) workout type of shoe. Come on England 🏴
Good first half. Many ciders down already. Could we do it?! I’m thinking Adios for the 10k. The COROS watch seems to think I can run faster and harder. I shall give it a shot. 👍🏼
I am still using the RC Elite 2. I think it is practical for a variety of runs. I don't think I'd race in it. The pro 2 was a quick return to Adidas. Adidas has taken supershoe instability to the next level. It's disappointing because I really enjoy the Adios 6 as daily shoe.
Seems abit misleading from Adidas to make it appear like the Boston 10 has more lightstrike pro than it does! Good job we have the Adios 6 is the true Boston successor (& I have some Boston 8's with just 80 miles on them still to enjoy)
Is the Adidas more roomy and able to accommodate a wider forefoot than the orignal SL20 and the Adizero Pro? I find both the Sl20 and the Pro a tight fit. My little toe rubs the side of both pair shoes.
I opted for the adios prime x, but I will say I prefer the ASICS meta speed sky over the fuel cell rc elite 2. I’d definitely give it a go, very responsive and snappy 🤓
go in with an open mind on the Boston 10 it's not the same purpose shoe that the previous Boston's were. btw I hope you're feeling ok after your shot yesterday.
Hey Dave! I shall give them a go Thursday. Need to do some speed refreshers tomorrow. Feeling good after 2nd shot. Also knowing I’m helping to keep others safe 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Just returned the RC elite 2. Too squishy for me. And now you mentioned how it retained the water weight. For me it was the sweat weight. They were still sweat soaked the day after a run. No bueno for me.
I’ve got both, really like the Elite 2 for long runs but don’t feel the ‘toe off’ on a set of intervals. I think it’s a longer run cruiser (still excellent). Agree, the Elite could be used at any pace, even a recovery day option. The Adidas feels more like a racing shoe 👟, very lightweight and responsive. Agree, on the ‘toe off’ feel. But overall, I think the Next%2 is probably still slightly better than the Pro2 in my mind.
I tired the NB RC Elite 2 in store recently and found the midsole soo soft I was collapsing on the medial side right away. I don’t ever wear stability shoes. Completely unrunnable for me, store owner said all the staff and many customers are having the same experience.
Good review Edd! I know we feel quite differently about the shoe but always value your opinion on it (the adidas adios pro 2). I’m still waiting for my Boston 10 🙄 I did a poll for what video to do next and this video came out as one of the top ones, so that will be coming soon. Have you decided on your race shoe yet? (I bet it comes back to the next 😂)
Are you ready(RC Elite) turning to the opposite corner, are you ready(Adios Pro 2)? Let’s get it on! It’s the modern day thillera in Manilla! A rousting battle of the payment pounding purple eater and the performance pony with speed stripes(3). Ring the 🔔.
As long as you can get discounted next%1 as cheap as 160€ at the moment, i don't see a reason to buy any of these both shoes (besides maybe the narrow fit of the next%).
Are you and Tim Grose buying one pair of shoes and sharing them between you? You seem to review exactly the same shoes at exactly the same time...hmmm....
@@burkskurk82 Yes it’s designed to be race legal. The adidas prime x is not. But none of this matters to non elite runners. They are only rules for championship races.
Traducelo.........he visto muchas comparaciones tuyas. NO TE GUSTA NB POR EL MOTIVO Q SEA. LA RC 2 ES 3 VECES MEJOR ZAPATILLA QUE LA ADIDAS ADIOS PRO 2. NO VOY A DECIR LOS MOTIVO
