I've been using this shoe for 5 months now and in that time I got multiple PB's when I ran 5k's. The best thing about this shoe whenever I go out to train hard, it makes it so much easy that when I finish training I don't even feel tired. This shoe is magic.
I have never like a shoe so much that I buy 2 extra pairs to keep in reserve, but that's what I did after 3-4 runs with my first pair of Takumi Sen 8. Love, love, love this shoe.
@@EDDBUD and it is funny, I lenjoy the Pro 2 also but with the same foam it doesn’t seem to be as proplusive. The Pro 2 feels a bit firmer to me. Must be the higher stack, weight and stiffer carbon rods that gives it a different character.
I was a bit late to the party with these shoes. I’ve just picked a pair up for 72.5 earth credits. My first 5k Parkrun, was a a 26 sec PB. My previous PB was run in Vapourflys. Quality pair of shoes IMO.
Got a pair of these in the orange colorway for $72 US for Black Friday. VERY fun shoe. Possibly one of the best shoe values I've ever gotten. Truly enjoy your reviews Mr. Bud.
Wow Edd, my shoes arrived at lunchtime and I’ve just had my first run in them and first proper run since Sundays Manchester marathon. 10k of alternate k’s..slow fast. Just blown away. I was a bit unsure when I carried out the usual test jog … living room, dining room and back. There was none of that bounce I felt with the Pro 2’s, they felt a bit solid However, after a Km or so they felt great. I felt fresh and fast throughout and was amazed when I saw my times, the last three effort k’s all under 4 mins. Two were a bit downhill but the last one (10th k) was a bit flat then gradual uphill slope and against the wind. For context I’ve only managed a sub 20 min 5 k three times. I was worried about racing a five miler next Wednesday (being so close to marathon) but now I can’t wait. Just love these shoes.
I love this review, it's absolutely my experience of them. I like the Takumi Sen so much that I'm considering them for marathon in two weeks. It's between this and the Adios Pro 2, the safer choice perhaps.
Just popped my Sen8's up to the 100 mile mark finishing a local marathon, rotating a couple of adios 6's for all the road training miles. Very versatile shoe in reality. Considering how often you can get them at discounted prices, I'd recommend these to anyone with adidas narrow feet.
Love this shoe. Just hit 50 miles on them last during my 10K race where I got a 24 second PR. The light, nimble nature of the Sen 8 helps with a quicker turnover and pushes you to get more up on your toes. Spot on with your review Edd.
I was so sceptical of this shoe Ed, with so many mixed reviews I held off picking up a pair. Then sports shoes had them at a very attractive price plus with my club discount I picked them up for just under 90 earth credits! I've found them so comfortable out of the box and love the snug fit, very much like my Adios 6 and Pro 2.0's. On track they are phenomenal, the grip is insane and my speed so consistent (comfortably maintaining low to mid 6's on the longer reps). I've done 3 sessions in them now and they're really coming alive. I'll stay with my Alphafly's and Vaporfly's for fast road workouts. Gonna give the Takumi's a blast at the Cheddar Gorge 10k next month, a perfect short distance shoe 👍🏻
I’ve used them for the first time today and I was totally blown away, really liked them on my fartlek. It is basically my first super shoe, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but it felt like cheating! Nice review as usual!
I snagged the Sen 8 for $125 and have only run twice in it but the thing I most notice about it is how smooth and flowing my stride is in this shoe. Similar to the SL20 but the midsole is so much better. That flow really encourages the faster pace. Like this much more than the streakfly so far!
I really like the Sen-8. For those in the US Running Warehouse has two colorways (Legacy and the Black) for $140 .... so $40 cheaper than anywhere else. Cheers Edd !!!
I just got them a few days ago and I love it! It hurts a bit my feet because I’m still breaking it in but today I tried it for a Threshold workout and ran 38:48 whereas I usually run 41min with my New Balance V3! It’s like the shoes wanted to go faster! I wanted to run 40min but it was so easy to maintain 3:50-3:55 pace without trying too hard… maybe I tried just a bit harder but not much, 2min improvement for a similar effort is amazing I think I can probably break 37min all out which would be huge for me due that my pb with the Rebel v3 is 38:03
Took these babies out for the local race last night, 12K over four laps with a few sharp turns. Very happy with my choice, shaved over a minute of my 10K PB and surprise, surprise ... feet are less sore the day after than when I race in the Vaporflys 😲
Love this colorway and I really want to try them. Totally right about The Strokes, great album starting at the very first song...amazing stuff. Thanks for the recommendation.
200 miles on mine now and love them. My instant, go to workout shoe. Picked up a second pair recently (TME colour 😍) but haven’t needed to put them to action yet as the first pair are still full of life.
I was not sure to start with. BUT after 10miles in something magic happened!! Suddenly Very responsive and pushy feeling without much effort to keep that speed in 5k. I really think 10k is quite hard one but even Mile to 5k is the best option for this shoes😎
@@EDDBUD Does the Sen 8 fit true to size if I have wide feet because some say the midfoot is narrow for people with wide feet. For adidas running shoes I normally wear size 10 and it has worked for me. Should I go for size 10 for Sen 8 as well?
Well managed to pick up a pair of these for £90 from SportsShoes, looking forward to seeing if they work for me as well as the Hyperion Tempo have done 🤞
Spotted a few deals kicking about, Keller Sport have the Magic Speed sub £90, very tempting, but I probably don't need them right now. Still only have 85 miles in my first pair of ZF Flyknit and got another pair after that. The velocity v1 and infinity react v1 have been doing the heavy lifting for my slower miles, with the OG SL20 for workouts... Ménage à trois!
I love this review as I was thinking of buying this shoe. Your explanations about the shoe are very informative and make me laugh with your great humor. Your channel definitely is informative and makes me chuckle. 🎉🎉❤️
@@EDDBUD hope so the price here in Malta is still high it retails for around 240 Euro. Looking for a sale option. But still might get it at the retail price as it's review is so good. How many miles would you think the shoe has got in it?
Got them for 90 on keller sports the other week, only used them once so far since I'm trying to shake a groin strain but they feel pretty great. Looking forward to using them
Glad you came over to the light side and abandoned the dark side! I was worried you were more Anakin than Luke. My favourite shoe (possibly ever). I got 10 mile and 10k pbs in this shoe. I’ve hid pair away too from Mrs Crook….🤫 Top review as ever Edd…Keep up the fine work 👍🏃♂️🙌
Major turn on these, Edd. I’ve retired my Bostons, and I’m running my SL20OG NOAHs at the moment. They should be retired by August (I think). I’ll move on the FUTURE.CRAFT Footprint next. It’s the Terrex Speed Ultra this winter then. I also have the Speed Pro (strictly summer) and the Agravic Ultra (likely only heavy snow days for me… more a hiking shoe). I’m still interested in the adizero SL if it sees the light of day. ✌🏽💙🏃🏽♂️
Got mine for £101 at Keller sports. Took them on the first run on Tuesday for a tempo run and ran a 10k pb. Did find them to be quite firm on the first run. I’m assuming they will soften up from your video.
Thoughts on this over 5-10K racing over the Vaporfly NXT%2, the sens are currently sitting at £110 and with even more discount can snag them up for £90, never used lightstrike pro, tried the SL20 and didn’t get anywhere near enough cushion, infact ruined my legs. Worth the investment of wait for Vapor’s to drop price soon as the 3rd edition is just round the corner?
I ran 6, 5k on a track with the Takumi Sen 8, and the exposed foam on the outsole of my right foot is already tearing 🤣🤣🤣. Maybe it’s all those right turns causing it to wear out faster 🤷🤷🤷. It’s a very fun shoe for high cadence running!
6:38 yes Adizero outsole's grip is good even on ice or light snow (doesn't mean you don't have to be careful)... if the Prime X is any example. I'm curious Edd... How does the Takumi Sen 8 compares to the Adios 6? I feel the Adios 6 has a "road feel" that's a bit overwhelming after 10km runs and I only use it at the track. As a rear mid foot striker, the Lightstrike is a bit too dead (I find it worse than Ultraboost and Saucony's PowrRun tbh)
I have both, and to me the adios 6 has less cushion, less spring in it's step. Only thing I'd say it's better would be the front grip. Everywhere else the Takumi Sen 8 had it licked, it's lighter, faster and more fun to run in
I don’t put the laces thru the middle pair of lace holes and that seems to work best for my foot shape. I got the shoes for $90 in December and have only done 25 miles cause I’ve been saving them for races and fast workouts.
I finally got my hot little hands on a pair of these at a substantial discount! They are shockingly light in my US 13 and cant wait to give them a go in a race. Im worried I'll chew through the outer heel on the lateral side since thats where i tend to do the most abuse to a shoe but time will tell.
Heh Edd, enjoying your channel! I have ran in the adios4, the boston 8 and the adios 6 all of them fit pretty well, would you say the TS8 would fit or is it narrower again? Also have you had a listen to Hannah Wicklund and the Steppin Stones? Scottie
I picked them up last week for 90 CAD (roughly 60 GB pounds). Did not need another pair of shoes but the discount was too tempting along with your great review of them. Looking forward to try them, I hope they don’t disappoint! I also found a pair of Adios 6 for 36 CAD (25 GBP) should I pull the trigger? 😅
Bought it (for £124) thinking it wouldn't fit and a Streakfly that was a half size too small cus that's all i could find.... didn't run in the Sen for months due to injury but loving them now, only 3 spirited parkruns but cracking shoe... way more stable than I thought it would be. I might try swapping out the laces as they are a bit tacky so take some messing to set the tension.
Hi Edd! I bought the Adios 6 and they are too firm, I make a lot of noise while I am running. I heard the Takumi Sen 8 are very firm so, this time I won't buy them. I will keep on racing on my Adios Pro 2 and training in the superb Streakfly!! You should have bought half a size down with the Streakfly and you would still love them! Oh well...
The Strokes, had a good sound for their time.On a similar subject....you remember "Different strokes" TV show......was so big but yet so politically incorrect
I picked it up and have been injured ever since. It's still sat pristine in the box. It's frustrating as hell, but is at least something to look forward to.
I don’t know if there’s something wrong with my technique, but these shoes are causing me a massive hotspot in the front of my left foot. I’ve tried tightening the laces but that didn’t really help. I’m going to try some chunkier socks and see if that helps, because these shoes feel incredibly fast!
Would the Adios 6 be a good budget alternative to the Takumi Sen? There are multiple promo codes and discounts that make the Takumi Sen more affordable now, but the Adios 6 is more accessible for me.
I remember a certain time when mr eddbudski wasn't taken with these shoes, bordering on saying how bad they were, I did say give them a chance. Love mine, but don't get much use as I don't do much speed work. Real question is, are they quick enough to outrun dogs, and if so what variety.
@@EDDBUD They certainly grow on you, my only gripe is I don't get to use mine often. But that just makes me love them more when I do. Got me another half coming up this weekend, will it be Takumi Sen 8 or rc elite 2 who knows.
@EDDBUD yeah I know. I have Adios 7. Bought them half size up, comparing to my other shoes. So I have to go at least half size up with Sen's... Thank you.
@@dan-zo4eb cheers Dan. Groupon are selling £75 worth of adidas gift cards for £50. So it works out as £120 direct. But got 15 trainers (VFv1, Alphafly, Reebok floatride Energy x, tempo next% etc.) So can't really justify another pair, unless it's sub £100.
Hey Edd, when you say the shoe is narrow, does that refer to the toebox area or the arch or the heel? Or I guess all of the above? I don't particularly have a wide forefoot, but I am flat-footed so I'm wondering how well this shoe will do for me
I'm think of getting some trainers and I'm deciding between the Reebok Energy 4 and the adizero takumi sen 8, is it worth spending an extra bit more cash for the sen 8?
Was really attracted to this shoe... Couldn't get it on my feet with socks on!! The tongue is conventional. But, it is stitched to the upper in a curious way. A short row at the top lace crossing on the lateral side. A short row at the middle crossing on the medial side. Makes the opening a little too narrow to get my foot through.... Very much wanted to leave the Adidas store with these... Any thoughts?
Edd, need your help! I’m currently on the fence between Nike Tempo Next %, ASICS Magic Speed, Adidas Adios Pro 2, Takumi Sen 8, or Prime X as a marathon workout shoe. Looking for cushion and responsive for 18-22mi runs with 8-12mi at 5:30 pace. Which of these would you recommend? Currently use an old pair of Vaporfly v2 for mile-half marathon workouts, but I’m about to retire them.
@Joshua Estrada I got both Tempo Next and Adios Pro 2 and many others (alphafly, vaporfly, etc). The Tempo Next is my fav shoe for daily training because I can just run like crazy and my feet never feel hurt. I've got 3 pairs now lol. The Adios Pro 2, you don't have the air pods so they are not as special as the Tempo Next imho. I like them but for slower pace workouts. If I were you I would go with the tempo next. This being said, personally, I'm trying to improve my speed (3:38/km for 5k) and I'm starting to feel like the Tempo Next protects/helps me too much somehow so my muscles don't work hard enough to improve as much as they would if I was using a less protective shoe.
I really want to try these, but the sizing is a bit of a mystery. I have the Adios 6 in US 11.5, but need US 12 for the Boston 10. Adios 6 in US 12 was way too big. Any size recommendations based on that?
Another anti-tall sizing release from Adidas. Us UK size 13 runners aren't that rare a sight these days are they? Other brands seem to do it but Adidas and New Balance in particular lag behind. It's a shame as I would have loved to give these a go...
I've been struggling with pressure on top of the foot in all recent adidas shoes, due to the very thin and non-stretchy laces + that awful neopreneish tounge...
I had a similar issue on one run in my Sen 8s, but realized I was wearing thicker socks than normal. The pressure caused my foot to fall asleep. Been on multiple runs with really thin socks since then with no issues. Hope this helps you.
I bought a pair and sent them brackets because I wanted the blue ones…. Discount codes had been deactivated and 170 has been the price ever since. Gutted - but I have sought solace in the willing arms of Prime X (not the same by any means, but a revelation nonetheless!)
