The Prime X is Adidas’s regulation-breaching carbon super-shoe, with both versions of the shoe having a stack height well above 40mm. The original Adidas Prime X Strung was beloved for its bouncy ride, but was also notoriously unstable, something Adidas tried to remedy with the Adidas Prime X 2 Strung, which also has even more foam and two carbon plates crammed into its midsole. Which shoe is better? Tom, Kieran and Nick give their verdict in this video.

I use the prime x strung v1 for workouts and have no issues with stability.

Yeah, I've personally have zero stability issues (so far at least) with the v1. Done a marathon in them and it was fine the whole way through.

Owned the Strung 2 since its launch, it has its issues but when you run in it. It takes care of your feet like a champ.

Thank you for the video! My Prime X Strung 1 have just arrived! Superblast for daily use and long runs, Prime for tempo, and half marathons, Vaporfly 2 for marathons, 10k and 5ks. Let's go!

With all the little foibles with both versions the big issue is the price. A lot of money for a shoe that is a bit of a novelty.

Great comparisons... I think Adidas decided that they needed to make a 'super' trainer as was said here. Nike killed the Zoom Fly by making it heavier and more 'daily'.

Prime X Strung 1 all day. Better upper and lockdown. More bouncy, less weight, fun and the stability doesn't really bother me that much as I strike forefoot. adidas has ruined v2 and time to stock up on v1 going for discounts now.

I love both but my vote is v2. Love the upper and sock like tongue and added stability. In my opinion, neither version is a race shoe

Adidas decided to make Evo 1 the lightest, most $$$$ not available to the public then made X2 the heaviest, $$$, available to public. Why? 🤔

Shoes do help, but imo more important factors are 1. The course, 2. The weather, 3. How well you feel, then 3. The shoes (Obviously taking into account adequate training)

V1 is the quicker shoe, but only on even surfaces without many turns. I ran Boston in the Prime x Strung v1 and ran 3.04, I had zero stability issues. I ran Loch Ness marathon in the V2 and even though I sustained a calf issue early in that race, the V2 allowed me to cruise at a decent pace and got me home in 3.05, both great shoes, but for shorter distances go for V1. For Marathons, they are very close for different reasons. If you are chasing times V1, just want to get round, V2.

@@edrios3668 V2 is the quicker shoe, though it doesn't feel it - because the geometry is more stable now, and the lower drop (more foam in the mid and forefoot).

i bought the og prime x for 120 instead its...ok, u cant really use it for anything else but running, even squats or lunges are a hassle on that marshmellow. I also feel like my muscles arent getting proper workout. good for a lazy chill day though

Two testers say Prime X 2 has significantly better stability. One tester says Prime X 1 has better stability. Who do we believe?

If you like more arch support, believe the two testers and get the X2 as it offers more stability in multiple ways. Otherwise it you're more flat footed go for the X1, as it doesn't interfere with your arch - however you'd lose out on some other stability aspects like wider base.
