The Adidas Takumi Sen 10 is the latest update to the brand's short-distance racing shoe. The big changes in this version include a tweaked midsole formula with glass fiber rods instead of the carbon heel plate and rods in the previous version. Version 8 and 9 were loved for their lightweight, fun and simple feel, and this update plays with some of the key variables that created that magic. Here is an overview of the shoe and my thoughts on it after my first speed workout. By the way, the 10 will be available in the US on 2/22.

I bought a pair of Adidas Adios Pro 3 in spring 2022 and recently retired it after almost 1000 miles... it was indestructible! I used it for long runs, tempos and interval sessions in addition to racing 10ks to halfs. It seems like the AAP 3 combines the best of the Boston and Takumi Sen in a 7.6 oz package (in my US men 9). I've seen this on sale for

Agreed adios pro 3 is a fantastic shoe . I am larger runner and got 300-500 miles out of pro 3 . Which is very good for me.

Totally agree about the 1/2 Marathon or 10K. The 26.2 seems like it would just drag on and on. Good news is, we're not professionals; just do what's fun for you.

I bought the Sen 9 for the experience and because it was on sale. So far I’ve used it only once. It’s a great shoe but best for short speed works and 5/10k max. If I were to do it again I would save the money and get the Adizero Pro 3 as they would be great for any type of workout or race.

My have designs changed over time. I still have the TS7 from 2-1/2 year ago that I only use for 5K tune-up races. I like the new design.

As someone who owns a pair of the 10s, they only feel better the faster you go, I ran a 5 miler in these and they felt fantastic when I was pushing the pace but in any moment where I felt tired and unmotivated to keep going the wasn’t there to help. So in short if you are a competitive 5k-10k athlete use it for your races, if you aren’t a 5k runner then you’re probably better off getting the 8 or 9s

I get along really well with the Takumi Sen8, the heel lift either isn't as bad as I experience in the Boston 12, of the fact the heal cup is very flexible allows the heel to not rub against a extremely hard and unpadded surface constantly. I also know some people experience pronation issues with the Takumi Sen8/9 as the shoe ages due to that medial side cutout. At 350km on my pair and they still feel fine. Efficiency wise the LSS numbers on the Takumi Sen8 are not very good (and never have been), but I suspect the light weight is countering that. Definitely can work as a half marathon shoe once you start running 1:30 to 1:40hr or faster. But you better have very good lower leg stability. I hear you on the marathon vs the half. I LOVE the half since I can push to the limit and know I won't bonk. Marathon is all about holding back till 32k then try to not fade or even ramp up. You should try the Stryd foot pod...running with power is a game changer. It's like RPE for dummies, and really helps modulate efforts uphill/downhill/headwind/temp/humidity. Makes race day planning simple, regardless of the course or weather on race day.

About lacing those Adizero shoes... I feel like warming up 1-2 km, the upper/lacing settles and gets a little loose, then stretching and readjusting laces to the perfect fit. That's the same routine to all Adidas shoes I've got: boston 11, 12 and Takumi Sen 8.

Have to do a runners loop with my Adidas Duramo Speed shoes, the heel lock down is not great. Similar upper to Takumi and the Boston

Just for someone who is buying it for the first time... midfoot on takumi is very narrow... i wouls suggest trying it out before you buy

The half is definitely the best distance. You get plenty of variety of workouts in training. Training load is manageable with a full plate of professional and family obligations.

I love my Takumi Sen 8s and have no trouble taking them to the Half Marathon distance, which I’ve done several times. I never switch out shoes during a run, so if I do a workout in my TS8, I’m running the warmup and cooldown in them as well. Though it’s a narrow fit, I find it comfortable at a variety of paces but recommend them more for the speed sessions. I have about 250 miles on my pair and will probably take them to 300 before I retire them. The outsole on my right shoe looks pristine, but my left shoe on the lateral heel section and mid-lateral toe off has the thinner rubber worn almost completely down to the midsole. The fit takes a bit to get dialed in, but is a dream once the right lockdown is achieved.

The 8s are awesome - blown away that you got almost 300 miles on yours tho 🤯 the ones I showed in this video are only at about 100 and the outsole and foam wear is the worst on probably any shoe I have. I also used mine for a half last year and they were a solid choice - would've preferred a bit more speed assistance in the back half but they helped me fly out of the gate (probably a little too fast lol)

I wore them last year for a solo HM TT and got 1:40:10 which is the quickest I’ve ran a half since my 1:35:29 PR in 2014 or 2015. I’m upping my trainer to include more speed work with a goal of trying to get a new PR in the half (race or training TT) with an ultimate goal of breaking 1:30.

And there is a nitpick advance at TS 10 versus 8: the heel outsole at my left TS8 peeled of.... due to heelstricking downhill. The TS10 has a longer heel rubber with no short finish prone to peeling.

Absolutely love them! Super comfortable and great for a bunch of paces. They made my list of 5 best shoes for beginner runners - check the video out here. I highlighted them pretty heavily in the beginning 5 Best Running Shoes for Beginners (1000+ Miles Tested) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jRdWcNJx-PQ.html

Correct me if I am wrong. Takumi sen 10 are almost exactly the same as 8 and 9, and paying like 100usd more for 10 is not a great idea as you gat A LOT from cheaper 8 and 9 versions.
@supwell
@supwell 5 месяцев назад
They are similar to 8 and 9 but the upper feels more comfortable, rods are a different material (glass fiber instead of carbon) and the foam feels a bit more stable and less bouncy - at least on the first run. I got my pair of 8s for $100 on sale but a few people recently have asked me to find 9s for them and there's super limited inventory. So the 10s at full price may be the only way to get a Takumi Sen now
@piotrwoz
@piotrwoz 5 месяцев назад
@@supwell I got your point, there are some upgrades but I guess that if would try them on 5 or 10k races - the results in 8,9 and 10 would be similar. Anyway I got my Takumi 9 on sale in Poland for around 69 USD and for 10 I would have to pay like 230 USD... so I will stay with 9 untill some sales will come :)
@supwell

agreed! if you already have the 8 or 9, definitely not worth the upgrade@@piotrwoz
