These shoes are insanely good. I have a feeling that it's gonna be one of those models that's here to stay and will definitely go up in popularity. The sole wear is ridiculous cause I've barely had any (and thats coming from someone who puts their foot down a lot to film tricks and just stop in general). The part about the shoes having no traction when it's wet is absolutely true even in situations when the ground is ever so slightly damp. Also this shoes is a heelflipper's dream. I just started trying a bunch of new heelflip variations because this shoe is so damn nice to do heelflips in. Also the colorways coming out for it are so sick and I swear I've seen this shoe be on sale multiple times online for like $70. The only thing I would emphasize from the review is that the fit is 'very' true to size. That sock type fit is very accurate when it comes to this shoe. Lastly, I know this shouldn't matter but - the name behind this shoe is unequivocally dope.
lmao this is a spot on review. second day skating with this shoe today, and started out not really being able to feel my board. got me nervous, but it made me feel like i had to use better technique to land the simple amount of stuff im able to do. for sure very comfortable and very stable.
Hi! What do you mean by “very” true to size? I’m a 9 in pretty much all brands (vans, nike, etnies) and I kinda have a wide foot. I read some comments about going a half size up and other saying same size. What you guys recommend? A 9? Thank you in advance!
@@whopwhop6732 It definitely depends on your foot shape. For me personally, I have a kind of wide, stubby foot. I wear an 8 in most brands, but in some brands such as Lakai or Vans, the toebox is longer and more pointy. The Tyshawns on the other hand have a rounder, less pointy toebox that fits my foot perfectly. If you've had some Etnies Maranas, they kind of fit like those. I'd suggest getting your normal size, but the best way to know is to try them on before buying them. I hope that helps! - Tim
Tactics Boardshop thanks Tim! Unfortunately where I live no shop have them so I have to buy them online. I had some maranas in 9 so I’m gonna buy some Tyshawn in 9 also. Thank you again for answering and for the review!
broke my ankle in these shoes and went on strike lol but i finally got back into them and i love them so comfy to skate and wear really durable perfect grip on the sole just an all around great shoe! shout out tyshawn and adidas
pro tip: take some super glue and put some on the ends of the laces by the loopholes and they won't rip as easily. Just make sure you have have your feet in them first so the fit stays the way you want
Baffles my mind the state of some peoples shoes/laces I see. Are people unable to use a bit of initiative and put a bit of superglue on the wear spots?
@@illastration1 Anytime I do these weartests, I don't shoe goo or do any preventative measures just to see how the shoe is gonna blow out. Normally I'd totally shoe goo the tips of the laces and the seams to keep the shoe going. ✌
This 100%...and additional glue along/ under the toe/ollie panels when they inevitably start to separate as well, got an extra month of skating just re-applying the glue that wears off here. If you do it slowly and sparingly, it will literally soak into the material and re-inforce it.
So, I'm way late to this party, seeing as how this was done in May and it's now August, but ignoring this three month gap, I've got to say. I always love Tim's shoe reviews. I also have a wide foot, so it's always nice to hear the perspective from someone with a similar foot shape. I also love when the shoe review isn't done by someone who rides for the company. Nothing better than getting real assessments on a shoe, and skating the crap out of it to really show what it's going to look like after weeks (or in this case months) of hard skating! Thanks for the excellent content as always.
Gonna be honest but this is one of the best wear test reviews on this shoe! Super helpful and informational, just got them today and they were a bit tight and stiff but feel nice when being walked around for a while. But they do feel rock hard and not-cushioning in terms of impact protection for now EDIT: they feel amazing now, I'm amazed how much they broken in to my super flat and wide feet :)
Yeah, just give them a few sessions to break in. My first session was pretty rugged and I felt like I couldn't do anything. 😂 But once it reaches that sweet spot... 👌 - Tim
As an older guy that skated in the early 2000s I will say this…I think it’s super funny when skaters nowadays complain about shoes not having “boardfeel” as if boardfeel was the KEY to their skating being good. It’s funny because When I started skating there ONLY was bulky shoes (which I prefer tbh the look is better in my opinion) and pros skated them just fine and KILLED it. Oh young kids 😆
They might be the best skate shoes out there today. Especially for people with bigger/wider feet. Far too many skate shoes are too narrow, flat, or tight.
love these shoes however the soft bit at the back with the blue stripe is really vulnerable to ripping but in my experience any shoe is weaker in the heelflip area i wish they made them as strong as the front of the shoes.
It does get pretty slippery when the sole gets wet. I mean, it's not icy slick, but I could still feel my pushes slipping a little when there was moisture on the sole. - Tim
Here's the review for the Flaco II. I'm sure the mid skates very similar with just a little extra ankle support and protection. Cheers! - Tim ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BtM3O01qM68.html
I'm just saying I'm a 10 year old a week ago I was doing tricks and I went into my staple one to another puddle so I wanted to Apollo and I I'm seeing if you got that stuff at the store I like your skate shop
That would be pretty wild. It would be a fully rubber shoe, kind of like the Nyjah's. If the shoe had the AdiTuff on the outside, they'd just call it a rubber toecap. 😄
Do you guys still have them in your Portland store Bc I could order them online but my feet are kinda weird and I need to try them on before I buy them
We currently don't have any in stock in our Portland location, but you can call up customer service and ask to have some sent there from our warehouse for you to try on. 888-450-5060 Cheers!
The Tyshawns feel as stable as any other low top shoe. The collar makes it look like a mid-top, but the material up there is so soft and squishy that it's hella comfy, but doesn't necessarily provide extra ankle stability like some other mid-tops. But I didn't have any ankle roll issues in the Tyshawns regardless. The sole profile is pretty wide, so there was plenty of stability without the higher ankle. I hope that helps! - Tim
Thanks 😊 I've rolled my ankles 15 times each and I'm getting older now so looking for good stability. Might try them and keep etc on hand just in case.
Yeah, stability is big for me too. I pretty much always have to skate with an ankle brace on my right ankle or it hurts to switch/nollie flip. If you do end up getting the Tyshawn's, I'm sure you'll enjoy skating them. Cheers! - Tim
