we had another adjuster come out at the same time to call out the BS of a terrible one. The previous property had a few back and forth situations with the terrible adjuster so the next time we brought out a different guy to point out the corners he cut and flawed work/excuses in front of him. :) it was a fun day.
Insurance is the greatest scam ever. You pay your whole life and when you need it most they either deny you or pay you and then raise your rates. They take your money and invest it making themselves tons of money and then won’t pay up.
@@danielebrparish4271 indeed. The less they pay out the more they get paid. Whoever thought of this? In all the years people pay for insurance it is exceedingly rare that consumers ever recoup even 5% of the money they’ve paid their entire lives.
State Farm is no longer consided a premium company. They lost big in California wildfire's and coastal storms as well as uninsured drivers. They know longer wish to insure homes built after 2022 in California or Florida, NC , SC. There car insurance premiums are among the highest in the country even for safe drivers , they no longer are loyal to long term customers and theres no longer a reason not to shop around. You can find much better rates. !
I was with Allstate for 31 years and never made a claim. They harassed me and I no longer have them. If any professional is afraid of being video taped, then they are crooks and cowards.
Yep. This is true everywhere. Police stations, hospitals, car dealerships, etc. Places where they screw up a lot or where they like to screw customers. We need to fix up America.
@rjohn3471 I called to ask a simple question. When I bought my home and the inspector came out, it didn’t have a wood heater. I installed one and called to ask if that needed to be noted. First thing she wanted my policy number. She acted stupid of course by acting like I was up to something. (I think they’re trained to act that way from previous experiences) she aggravated me by not giving me an answer. It went on for way too long. Never got an answer. My next annual bill was $1,800 up from $1,200. I called GEICO for a simple question about my auto coverage and it sounded like the same stupid woman. She asked for my information and I just ended the call.
50+ years with Nation Wide never a missed or late payment. When my mother passed I took control of the estate was cancelled even though the home and property is in great condition.
Yes, after my experience dealing with them after one of their insured motorists destroyed my car I have always steered people away from Nationwide. They are definitely not on your side or the side of the person who could have died due to an unfortunate negligent act.
From my experience. After have having dozens of policies with State Farm for 28 years they sent me a notice they were canceling my home owners insurance because I was dead. Then they took the payment out of my checking account. I asked the agent to help me and he said it was my problem he could do nothing about it. I did something about it. I canceled all my insurance with State Farm and went to Erie Insurance getting better coverage and saving over $500 a year.
Insurance premiums are an expense one should not set up for automatic withdrawal payments, period. People have gotten really lazy in letting these companies "conveniently" manage their financial matters for them. Why would anyone trust any of these companies to do the right thing once they have access to your banking accounts is beyond me.
Dropped State Farm years ago because they refused to inspect my vehicle after an accident that wasn’t my fault. They took the word of the driver that hit me and paid him off and raised my rates. Best move I ever made
"Jake is the Chad they get to sell you the policy; Ben is the guy who Chad cheated with his wife...Coming soon; Roofers that refuse to deal with insurance because of these Ben's...
They’re all trash. They all have slogans that sound so nice -- Nationwide is on your side. Like a good neighbor State Farm is There. You get the idea. They are not on your side. Someday they’ll get their comeuppance like the big Life Insurance Companies did. Remember MetLife ? Haven’t seen that Blimp lately. They don’t even have agents anymore. Prudential - The Rock. The rock has sunk. Why ? You can only screw people over for so long.
I was an independent adjuster and would definitely let you video me. When the owner was with me, I was less likely to miss things they had already seen. I took pictures of everything they wanted me to and submitted it with those pictures. The inside insurance adjusters would then look the claim over and go from there. Not everything was always covered but reasons would be given.
Thank you for posting this. I was denied a roof claim from a hail storm. It beat the grit off my shingles and exposed the fiberglass. My neighbors got new roofs. When the roofers came out and asked who my insurance company was, I said farm bureau. They all three said, "I know that guy and you're not getting a roof"
Farm Bureau is typically okay. “That guy” does not have the final say over your claim. If he denied it you are entitled to a reinspection by a different adjuster and/or appraisal with a third party public adjuster. Do not let them bully you, if the damage is there push it all the way they will break.
A hail storm came through our subdivision a few years back. Every homeowner, that did not insure with State Farm, received new roof covered by their insurance company. Those neighbors that were insured by State Farm were told they did not qualify... Why would that be???
Same problem! One neighbor is just behind me (not state farn) had less damage and was approved for a new roof, gutters, etc after a brief inspection and had everything torn off and replaced within the week. We fought with SF for over a year and got told to take a hike. Agent stated they cannot do anything as their inspectors now deny as a rule and corp always sides with them. They also do not care if you cancel.
Dropped them years ago because I never had a claim and the next thing I know my premium went up over 30%! Called my agent about it and he said it was due to hurricane and tornado damage in the south. I asked him why should I pay for their risks? He replied that that is just the way it is. My response was you want to bet? I have 15 days left on this policy and I’ll be canceling in the next few days when my policy from one of your competitors takes over, then I hung up on him and haven’t looked back.
I think all insurance companies after 5 years with no accidents claims should return your money and start over. I have a big problem giving someone money for something that might happen, just me !
So where does the money come from for the guy whose house burned to the ground and the insurance company pays 400k to rebuild his house, replace is belonging and pay his rent while his house is rebuilt? After paying 2k a year in premiums , for, let’s say 10 years? Insurance co collects 10k and pays out 700k-800k. And you want your money back. Your money covered this loss, along with the other policyholders.
My garage door got buckled by a 93 mph wind. Measured. I THOUGHT I had a $500 deductible with State Farm. Nope. At some point in the past, my policy was converted to a percentage of my home's value. One half of one percent is $2100. I ended up replacing it myself.
@@bogeyman7436 - It was a classic derecho. I watched it come in from two hundred miles out. I taught severe weather analysis and forecasting for many years. I have forgotten more about weather than you will ever know.
I had a $1,000 deductible. SF changed my deductible to 1% of value. They use a high value as it gets them a higher premium but it also raises the policyholder’s deductible. My deductible is now well over $7,000. That’s how they prevent the filing of most claims.
I think you're confused on what "1-party consent" means. That's for recording a private conversations, mostly related to phone calls. There is no privacy in public, so the 1-party consent is irrelevant.
I’m a social worker you’re incorrect. It applies to conversations taking place on private property which can be anywhere from a hotel room to a doctor’s office, anywhere that basic privacy is assumed. So once they stepped inside that house he would need permission to record their conversation. He was right to keep reminding him of that. I live in a one party state and my crooked landlord tried to tell me I couldn’t record our conversation regarding usage of our storage spaces because we were in the basement of a privately owned property. But because I live in a one party state he couldn’t object and I got him on record.
@@Lunchladydoyle Starting your rant with "I'm a social worker" tells us you're clueless on the subject. Your first sentence just repeats what I said: "private conversations". Being inside the walls of a building doesn't change anything. If your recording device is in plain sight then it's obvious you're being recorded, so therefore that law wouldn't apply.
The camera guy is actually walking around on someone’s private property. To be filming in public, he would have to stay out on the street or on the public sidewalk.
@@danieluva2848 - Yes I have. Two cars. Rates did not go up. They paid both quickly. One was totaled and I got more than a fair value. We dropped State Farm shortly after moving to NC. The rates more than doubled with no claims in NC. All we had were past windshield replacements in FL.
State Farm is the company with the constant TV commercials featuring pro football players. I always wondered how they paid for so much advertising with celebrity appearances. Well, now we know. They don’t pay off on claims. That’s kinda what I thought in the first place.
I had to deal with Statefarm two times in one year and I got screwed both times. I wish I would’ve had a guy with the camera. I don’t know if all insurance companies operate like Statefarm but Statefarm made my life a living hell for a few months.
Sorry to hear that. Next time you have a claim, even with the new provider, hire a Private Adjuster company. I had to do that on a claim in 2015 that was denied and they got me most of the $15,000. that should have been awarded to me in the 1st place. The Private Adjuster company charged me 10% of the total. Much better for me as the Insurance company only wanted to pay me $1500 on a $15,000 claim caused by storm damage. I dumped that insurance company soon after and I was a 30 year customer with no claims before that. And got better rates from the new company. TBH I think all insurance is a scam.
@@thatotherguy1 thank you, very helpful… I think the insurance companies are bogus also but it’s been set up over the years to allow this deception to flourish…
The problem is not just Ben. It’s the insurance companies. They encourage these practices. Ben bonuses on denying claims likely. There should be a third party at every inspection required by law. Otherwise it’s the wolves in charge of the hen house
Bonuses for denying claims? That would be illegal silly. They just shit can em and hire someone else cheaper they can train to their liking. Simple problems require simple solutions.
Because the government/law makes us have to pay just like everything else. A scam Americans havent woke up from yet just like taxes we sit back while the government grossly spends it on other countries and zero help to the ones actually flipping all these bills
My in-laws had 3 houses & 2 vehicles insured with State Farm for 50+ years & never filed a claim. A leak developed in one of the houses & State Farm denied the claim.
He might be a former cop because he doesn't seem to like accountability at all If he doesn't like the first amendment there are many countries that he can move to that don't have it
I was with State Farm back in like the 1990's a lady hit my 84 Chevy K-20 with her Dodge Dakota i went into a ditch Totaled her truck did about 3 k damage to my truck State Farm wanted to total my truck i said no and they said yes they was i said well now my back hurts and my neck and im calling an Ambulance and in going to the Hospital and they wrote out the Check and Dropped me the next Day .....
I was with State Farm for well over 30 years for my auto insurance. My parents had been with State Farm longer than that for both home and auto. I bought a new home last year and got a policy with them. When renewal time came up for this year my quote went up 50% from last year. The local agent gave me some spiel about the pandemic & inflation driving up costs of building materials thus driving up policy premiums. He urged me to bundle my home & auto to get a cheaper rate as I previously changed my auto to another carrier. It didn't pass the smell test. I shopped for a different carrier through an independent agent and will be paying 10% less than I did last year for the same coverage. No bundling needed. Many of these agents only care about their commissions. They couldn't care less about their customers-even loyal ones.
This is the SECOND story like this I have seen lately. The first one I saw, was a poor woman, whose husband was murdered during a break in. Some valuable things got destroyed in the conflict, due to blood stains from her husband. State Farm told her that they don't consider that a loss event, or something to that affect. All she wanted was some bedding and beds, etc. covered, so she could replace them and help her with closure. Instead, she had to fight them while in her grieving. It was't until she went to her local news station that they decided to pony up. SHAME ON THEM!!
People need to be cautious when going with the cheapest coverage. If u own your home and u have a family 1 lawsuit can completely change your way of life. Good coverage to protect u if u r involved in an accident and there are injuries is a must. Good homeowners coverage is a must. The cheapest coverage can end up costing u the most .
Just as an aside, I have State Farm and I bought a vehicle that was victim of snow/ice damage from a slide off of a roof. There was no complaint or anything, I took the car to an auto body shop and the estimate was 3200 dollars. State Farm cut the check and covered my car. I acknowledge that insurance companies want to collect premiums and don’t want to pay out claims. But I haven’t had a horror story (yet) with any of my claims.
Was recently told by a remediator that State Farm has done a complete flip from what they once were and are now the hardest to work with. They'll send multiple adjusters and drag their feet for months even on over coverage of the cost to replace from the incident when the insured has complete replacement.
Contractors now are the same people that stand in front of police stations videoing everything until they’re confronted so they can put it on YT. Tell me they don’t sound like the exact same people.
Ben isn't the only dishonest insurance adjuster. I just had a conversation with an insurance adjuster, he tried multiple times to twist my words back at me in the firm of a question. Every single time I would start the conversation over. Every time he tried to twist it back at me. Finally I just told him that I have a suit for the homeowners day in court and hung up.
I had hurricane damage to my roof and garage door. Wind entered the garage sbd and shredded the shingles. Interior damage. State farm cut me a check for 400.00 dollars. U dont know how good your insurance is till u got to use it. I can't even shuck the roof and get a dumpster and dry it in for that. Smh.
I was in the Air Force when I bought my Frst brand new car. Tried to get insurance from State Farm. They refused because I was military. Knew a family ho had home owners insurance through Nationwide. There home burned down and insurance dragged their feet for months. They lived on a highly trafficked road. They created a billboard size banner to display over the ruins that said " Insured by Nationwide ". Funny how quickly it made the claim go through.
This is why I've been with nationwide for 20 years. It's not the cheapest, but they have never given me crap once and always covered everything I made a claim on with no questioned asked.
I've had trouble with the State Farm adjuster too. His job is to deny claims to save the company money. I turned him and State Farm into the state insurance commissioner to get the theft of my catalytic converter covered. Once they covered it, I dropped them and went to AAA. Any by the way, my agent turned against me too. Insurance companies are a racket. They want your money, but refuse to honor your needs.
I had a small amount of hail damage on my roof. Called insurance. My roofer waited for him at the house; I was out of town. The roofer called me to tell me the adjuster did not show up. I called the adjuster to find out where he was, he said he'd already been and was going to approve a new roof. Then he mentioned the second AC unit would be replaced too. I said I don't have a second unit. He had gone to the wrong house but would not admit that. A couple of days later my ring camera alerted me to a guy walking on my porch. I asked him what he wanted; it was the adjuster. He had to come 'back' he said, as he'd "lost his files on his computer and had to remeasure the roof." He never fessed up and insurance paid for a $25K roof.
I’m very thankful I found a sales gig where I don’t have to sell my soul and can talk to my customers honestly. I almost got into selling insurance, so glad I didn’t.
State Farm won't pay for our roof damage. They said it isn't enough, yet there is water pouring in our attic every time it rains, and the plaster walls in our spare bedroom darken with dampness. We're switching insurance companies, which is sad because we've been with state farms for so long.
My state farm agent is great, but. I was parked. Came out and someone hit my bumper and was hanging off and some how front axle was damaged. My car was a work car with rebuilt title, so had bumps, scrapes, dents under car frame from before I bought it. So when adjuster looked at it, said I ran over something and was no longer a no fault, but can't remember, basically like I hit rock. Really didn't make difference, but think he would ask or look that I filed it was rebuilt title when I put it on my insurance 7 years ago.
State Farm is the WORST! They sent a letter to my Mother that had a 4 year period listed. It showed 3 claims my Mother had made in that 4 year period. 1 was a theft of some equipment out of the garage where they only covered 30% of what was stolen using their creative fine print. The 2nd claim was for a tree that fell on her 120 year old Gazebo that was beautiful. They denied the Gazebo, but paid 60% of the tree removal costs. The 3rd was a neighbors tree falling on her fence. They denied the entire thing, forget exactly why, but it was some shifty BS. In this letter they were basically scolding her for filing the 3 claims in 4 years, not so subtlety threatening to drop her as a customer. Of course they didn’t list the other 46 years that had NOT A SINGLE CLAIM LISTED. You believe that shit?
I had the same thing happen to me with my roof after a severe hail storm rolled through the area. Just about every house on my block and the surrounding blocks had roof damage, but according to the adjuster who came to my house, all the marks and impact damage on my roof wasn’t caused by hail, but he claimed it was heat blisters from defective shingles. When I climbed up on the roof with my roofer and showed him that these marks were clearly indentations and not blisters that go outwards, he then looked at my next door neighbors house and said “ well, your neighbors addition they put on top of their house shielded your home from all the hail”. I fought these bastards for 7 years, they ended up paying me 1,700.00 towards a new roof that cost me just under 20k. I refused the check, never cashed it, so they sent it to the State, where the State got a hold of me and asked me kindly to cash the check so it will clear out the file with the State.
I dropped State Farm like a hot potato last year when they almost tripled my premium for absolutely no reason, having never filed a homeowner's claim in well over 30 years. Disgusting unethical company.
I used to have State Farm for my rentals. I was dropped after I made too many claims. Aka, calling my local office and asking if something was covered under my policy. According to State Farm Gilmer Texas, calling and asking if something is covered is considered a claim.
Insurance companies LOVE to take your money every year but HATE to pay out on legitimate claims. Happened to me and I had to hire a Private Adjuster company to fight my claim and won. The insurance company offered me $1500. on a claim with $15,000. worth of damages. I received payment and promptly kicked that insurance company to the curb.
Sounds like roofer trying to squeeze every nickle possible out of insurance. I made the mistake of allowing an out-of-town guy on my roof. He showed up on the the adjuster day and pestered the guy while he was doing his job. Roofer said he'd do the job for whatever insurance provided and all I had to do was pay deductible. I went through the adjuster's report to me, saw what was being paid for and checked again after the job. In the end, I had the adjusters make several adjustments because work was not done and products were not used. Insurance told me that they had never had someone rat out a roofer and send them back money.
State Farm denies no matter what. They will refuse to go on roofs and/or on the areas with damage. If you have independant inspection/enginner that supports your claim with plenty of evidence, they will still deny, stall and/or tell you to sue them.
State Farm is garbage here in Florida too. I had 5 roofs denied in one month claiming there was no hail damage (yes we get hail too). Whats funny is I've done jobs with insurance claims literally across the street from another homeowner with state farm and they still deny. State Farm really needs to be investigated for not holding to their end of an insurance policy.
