Adjusting headlight level on a mk6/mk5 GTI

Alright guys so I've been having an issue with my Auto leveling headlight sensor, where the sensor is broken/no good, I checked my connection on the driver's side rear control arm. I looked through the forums and came across manually adjusting until a new sensor is put in. I couldn't find any videos on it to make sure I was doing the right thing; hopefully this could help you, should apply the same for the MK5 GTI as it does for the MK6 GTI. Please leave feedback since this is my first youtube video.

Don’t you need vagcom to adjust them?

P C you can adjust them using vagcom, but you can manually use them with out the vagcom

Helped immensely. My MK5 had no failure indicator. It just stopped working and is in the down position. Of course that made night driving precarious. Thanks again.

I bought the helix lights, and I thought it was broken cause with hesd lights on I could see NOTHING. I'm gonna try this and see if I can align it man thank you

Btw the video helped a lot, I just lowered my car and they just point straight at the ground but not anymore😂

Hi, many thanks for the video. I have that exact problem and I will go to try your solution. I have a doubt and perhaps you can help me. Those 2 allen screw holes on each headlight, are for the low or high beam? In my case both - short and high beam - of each headlight are signaling a little to the left.

Sebastian Cadenas I’m not sure if it’s for high beams as well. I know for a facts it works for low beam, you will have to try it out with high beam and let me now how it goes ! And no problem, I am glad I can supply a video to help others!

Hi Hyovel, I have a GTI MK6 with xenon headlights and LEDs equal to yours and I have the same error, did you already change the AFS module? Please if you have the video share it with me, greetings and thanks

So I'm going to get lowering springs which have a 2-3 inch drop My leveling lights currently work, if I adjust them manually for the car being lower will they still adapt to roads as before ?

Luis Delta little sensor on the rear control arm, when lowered or hitting a major pot hole making the control arm to flex lower then usual, the sensor will either snap or invert backwards I believe giving this error causing your lights to sit lower. With the lights sitting lower you can’t see ass far at night! How that helps, sorry just seeing this now !

Quick question, kinda noob shit lol, but I can’t figure out how to turn on my fog lights -_- i have the exact same model as you. Any ideas? I definitely don’t have a button for them and googling hasn’t helped.

J D no problem !!! I struggled for a little until one day when I was about to turn my lights on and my seat for some odd reason wasn’t set in place and pulled me back a notch, and at the time my hand was on the lights and I found out there was the fog thing hahah!!! But thank you I appreciate it !!!

I installed LED headlights in my golf mk5 which seem to blind people in front of me. Would this help?

Yes it should help, give it a shot, park in front of a level wall and level ground about 20ft or two car lengths and level it to about knee height

Yea it should be fine ! The leveling tool should make the led lights go down so it’s not as blinding, but still have good visibility

@@Itsillmobhoe it should work, after adjusting them, when you turn the car off and then turn it back on if they auto level back to the position you did not like, then you may have to adjust the headlights through vagcom. If you don't want to go through vagcom you'll have to remove the sensor for the auto leveling and then adjust the lights manually like I did in the video. After that they should remain that desired height indefinitely.

Wuux I bought them off the Offer Up app guy had them posted for like $140 I think I offered him $120 and he took the offer
