Hi! This video covers why we decided to stop budgeting estimated numbers, including the pros and cons of getting one month ahead in our budget. Thanks for watching!

All sheets branded as "TBM" are from The Budget Mom's printable workbook. We have the 2021 version, but the current one doesn't look much different.

We got the zero based budget worksheet (for free) from Vertex42.

For savings and debt trackers, we're using Heidi Ifland Nash's book "Money Games: Debt Freedom for Couples", which can be found on Amazon or through her website (links below). She also has a bunch of free trackers on her website!

You guys are doing great rolling with the punches life is giving you. I have been trying to get a month ahead in my checking account as well. It’s not easy but I’m not giving up. I watch another teacher who budgets and she gets summers off too. She decided she wanted to be work optional for summer so she calculated how much money she would need over summer break and divided it by how many paychecks she gets while she’s working. At the end of the school year she has enough saved so she doesn’t have to work summers unless she wants to. It’s something to think about. It might work once you get a month ahead and school is back in session.

Thanks so much. That's a great idea! Even if he never used that fund, it would take a lot of pressure off. Last year, I ended up paying the rent all summer and we can't do that every year since it's more than half my pay. Having a dedicated summer fund would change everything. Thanks for sharing!💜

@@winandwicked It was a summer sinking fund to cover her expenses.
