With your basic film emulation applied, you can now tweak your grade using the creative grading controls built into FilmConvert Nitrate.
The first set of controls we’ll look at are the color wheels. The color wheels will add a specific hue you select to a luminance range in your image - for instance, orange in the highlights, or blues in the shadows.
Below each color wheel are brightness controls for each area.
The behavior of the controls will change depending on whether you are using a log or non log profile. In Log, the controls are mapped to the Cineon Log curve.
Saturation in your image can be adjusted using the saturation slider.
Next, a new addition, is a custom curve control.
The curve works as a linear representation of the scene, the left bottom corner being the darkest area and the top right being the brightest.
The tool is broken up into 4 parts: luma, red, green and blue. Each can be manipulated independently with minimal effect on the others.
