There's a book called "Defiant" it's by Alvin Townley and it's about Jerry Denton, James Stockdale, and the rest of the Alcatraz 11 (The group of American soldiers that Denton was with.). It's an excellent book, and I encourage anyone who is at all intrigued by this video to check it out. There's about 400 pages of incredible stories of these guys taking unimaginable amounts of physical, emotiomal, and psychological punishment and just continuously getting back up. It's has a sort of "Lone Survivor" feel to it, what with the whole "Never Quit." Mindset. Regardless, 'tis my two cents, thanks for reading!

I think it is obvious why I removed the word "American". But if removing the word "American" is ok and that is your definition of "a heroic act" or "heroism", would it make any difference if I replace "American" with "Russian" in the context of the Ukraine-Russia conflict? Or even with "ISIS"? And you completely ignored/conveniently forgot one of my previous points which was to provide context to why Mr. Denton had to blink in Morse code to begin with: he was captured after he bombed a foreign country that has never done anything wrong to him specifically or to the USA generally. If bombing innocent people was not a heroic act, then complaining about being "tortured" was a heroic act? So, does context matter or not? If a single moment can make someone a hero, then everybody, even psychopaths, would have at least 1 moment in their lives, would that make everyone a hero equally? Why would you take offense? That’s what we call a genocide, and denying US crimes in Vietnam and Korea is straight-up genocide denial. No, this stuff was not justifiable. losepoundsandinches That’s common misconception about Guantanamo Bay. That place is actually an exemplary prison facility compared to the ones we have stateside. I’m actually for shutting it down to move them to our federal prisons. Why? Because those damn terrorists get treated better than the convicts we have in our country. Here’s a link showing what GTMO is really like without the mainstream media spinning their lies to demonize the place: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PtrzcBMbVXs.html Unfortunately, no politician stateside would ever want to take these prisoners in their own states. The convicts and gangmembers in those prisoners would eat them alive. Once they found out they were terrorists (doesn’t matter if they’re guilty or not) they’d have a field day with them by raping, torturing, and murdering them all in a heartbeat. Seriously, if I was going to prison and had to choose between staying at a Federal Prison or GTMO, I’d much prefer to take my chances at GTMO. It gets more public scrutiny to be humane than any other prison on the planet.
