Great video mate! New to video and grading and this was excellent to see. Obviously you weren’t just using a lut, but would you normally use a conversion lut first before grading. Or does premiere do that automatically. I’ve tried both premiere and DaVinci and I know it’s different in both. Just trying to establish my own basic workflow.
It's just sad to see how poor Premiere Pro is in terms of color grading. I hope there will be a big update with a modern and better color grading panel. It's 2024, and they're still using the 2016 Lumetri Panels. Plus, buddy, I hope you're not normally relying solely on your eyes and scopes for SLog3 conversion.
Hey Zac! Love your work. I'm always having trouble colour grading my slog 3 footage. I've been told my videos are either too flat or too contrasted. I have a difficult time knowing when to use highlights vs whites, and shadows and blacks. In this video, you didn't touch those settings but just worked with the shadows and highlights. Can you let me know when you would use whites and blacks? Cheers :)
Cool Video Zac but one thing i don´t understand. There is the possibilty to get a perfect base for color grading with "Modify Clip" and then "Interprete Clip". Then you can select S-Log3 instead of the Rec-709. Why don´t you use it? I rarely see someone doing it. Is there any disadvantage?
