Adobe's New Terms of Service ARE TERRIBLE (and oddly familiar) 

Everyone who uses Adobe products regularly has a deep hatred of Adobe

Fun fact, back in the early aughts Adobe purposely didn't pursue cracking down on piracy in order to make their products more appealing to companies, as every kid and student would use pirated versions of their software to learn and practice on. This pretty much caused all their meaningful competitors to die from lack of oxygen.

Dang I can remember coding websites in notepad. I would use Photoshop 6, have notepad instances for different pages, scripts, and style sheets. Browser pointed to local index folder, refresh to see changes. Building the whole file structure in win explorer to upload when ready. I don't miss it, but it was kinda cool when all a kid needed to build a site was paint and notepad.

By the way, the thing about "ooh, artists were afraid of photography, they were luddites back then and look how wrong they were". Anyone telling you this - tell them to give you a source. Cuz here's a fact - it isn't true. There's only one recorded example of an artist thinking there was a decline in the arts due to photography, and guess what - he was wrong. Photography led to a boom in the arts, especially in portrait photography. You ever seen a Norman Rockwell or a Gil Elvgren or a J. C. Leyendecker painting? Al Buell? All of those people relied deeply on paintings. You no longer needed to book a person for 3 weeks in order to paint them - you just take their picture, and now you have your live reference. Artists embraced photography, because it helped them creatively. It didn't take control away, but rather... it democratized certain aspects of art, which is why by far the greatest art of all time was produced by early to mid 20th century American painters.

I remember an artist finding out that the people who rely on "prompting" to produce pictures for their job, are completely incapable of taking suggestions to fix issues to fit the requirements. 1, no eye to see what's wrong in the first place, 2, the AI generator can't do targeted adjustments reliably.

The modern tech and software world is just weirdly frustrating. Things should be so much better, but there is always some kind of BS to deal with.

Adobe increased Copro Cost

I mentioned this before in the stream comments but it needs to be said again: They fucked up the reader in the latest patch, and I'm not talking about only being able to see half the number of tabs now. If you open 6 PDFs and close the 1st one you opened (the left most one), the 3rd one also closes.

As a programmer, I think a lot of not very visible shit in operating systems has gotten a lot better since XP. In general, if you plug a device into your machine, it will probably just work because drivers have gotten a lot better. There's also a lot of subtle shit like distributed computing and utilization of multi-core processors that have improved a lot. However, that's not to say that a lot of shit, especially with respect to business practices, hasn't gotten worse, or that software has monotonically improved. I think open source is becoming really appealing though, and you touched on this when you mentioned krita. Blender is the software of choice for 3D modeling over paid software now, and Linux is more accessible and seamless than ever. There's definitely programmers who are frustrated with the direction that the industry has taken.

I have a cracked version of Photoshop but I still prefer Clip Studio for sketching lol. Although, tbf Photoshop is definitely easier for more “painterly” art as the brush doesn’t lag like CSP. Maybe it’s time for me to bite the Krita bullet but my worry is all of the complaints that the program is heavy on the computer.

I swear, if I keep getting AI assist popups over and over in Adobe Reader when I just want to look at pdfs, Im uninstalling it So glad the government is actually doing something useful and I hope Adobe gets A-f'ed into oblivion. With Windows 11 being ass as well, I hope people start using Linux and open source programs more. And I was thinking more Ryobi drill lol

Ah yes adobe and web development something I know all too well. The good ole days are over. Frontend development is done and now everything that is industry standard has become a service to drain your bank accounts. I never thought back when I was using cracked adobe cs4 , hoping one day I’ll actually buy it, would get this bad, now with AI stealing from everyone and asshole bosses who just want a save a buck no longer offering jobs, it almost makes me regret becoming a graphic designer. Support open source programs gimp, notepad++, blender, libreoffice, inkscape, and many more. Screw adobe making us pay through the nose just to steal our work and send it to corpo rats who just gonna use AI and cheat us out of work and money.

Sorry TYler, while I agree with the backlash against the new TOS and against Adobe in general, a lot of this rant was very ignorant, and you actually think that Square space is a replacement to actual web development. I think you are falling into the trap you criticize others for.
