Marmosets are often used for research on Human Aging and disease, because their bodies are very close to humans.Sometimes kept as pets, but are very difficult to care for. They require a very specific diet, and access to UV light to stay healthy. The cost of a marmoset can be anywhere from $1500.00 to $4000.00.In some states its illegal to have them as pets, and finding a vet that specializes in primate pet care is also difficult .Also you should never get just 1,they will be very lonely. They are social animals that live in groups or small troops made up of 4 to 15 relatives . They can be very territorial.Their life expectancy is 12 yrs
@Cherokee Heart CT oh, I do so agree! I've said virtually the same thing as you in reply to a post above. Why people think they can just take an animal that should be free and stick it in a cage with a budgie bell, a carrot stick and the TV for company and it will be fine and dandy is just beyond me.
I find it sad and disturbing they are captive. They should be living in a family group not separated like this. Older, younger - all ages together. They are not pets. I can't believe the amount of people on here who think it's OK. Shocking.
I'm a huge primates fan. I would love to have Recess mccack. But never will. It so wrong to have any primate in captivity. It is the last place they belong. I know there are rare Circumstances where it's the best option. But I dont think any human should own a primate of any kind. It's just wrong!
@@dr.donnawalter4380 what a strange comment to make..... I'm sure you (should) know that different animals have different lengths of 'childhood', when they pick up all they can to survive on their own e.g. elephants for 16 years (same as humans), orangutan anywhere between 6-11 years plus frequent visits til about 16, otters about a year depending on type and then usually stay within the wider family unit. Now - don't ask silly questions and make yourself look silly instead of your intended target (why would you want to do that anyway?).....
Unbelievably beautiful but at the same time so fragile and just assume. When I watched this video it made me more aware of how much it is up to us to give all creatures a safe and healthy planet for now and the future. ❤
It’s really up to nature… if we stayed out of the mix all together, I’m sure it would be fine. Nature is best without our tampering, tinkering and interference.
@@rellaink8464 Your absolutely correct but seeing that we have forced our kind upon all of these beautiful creatures we must do everything we can to help them in the long run ♥️♥️♥️
They're such precious beautiful animals... It breaks my heart to see them crying with so much anxiety because they're not in their natural environment. Hopefully these are all rescues.
You really think they are happier trying every day to survive and escape predators in the harsh forests than in a confortable house with food available every day?
@@autisticmonkeyboi6820 you really believe they are in a "comfortable" house with food everyday. A lot of them are only fed a bit of food they'd normally eat in the wild to keep them small. They eat foods unnatural to their species and it is bad for their health. Monkeys cannot process sugars, certainly not the amount they are fed in captivity. Also, they are not given free range most of the time unless they're outside. They're put in cages right after filming. Do you know how monkeys are trained? It's torture. To get them to walk upright, they are trussed up. They are smacked with sticks on the legs....and what of the many monkeys that are constantly sporting bruises? Monkeys tear shit up. It's what they do. You cannot let a monkey have free roam of a house because it will pick up everything, bite it, break it. It's classic behavior. Even the best kept monkeys are put into cages after filming. You look at some of the monkeys that are cared for here in the US. They are treated beautifully, but, when their time playing with the human is up, they're put into a cage room. Ask yourself why. Yes, monkeys that are wild do have it better. They're not being used and are around their own kind. Do you think you would be good in a slave like position as long as you are fed and kept in indoor containment? Monkeys are intelligent animals. This intelligence turns to aggression in captivity, or self harm. You should read up on it. You also must know that these illegal kept monkeys will go into estrus and males will be unruly due to testosterone. Because they are illegal, the owners cannot get them fixed. So you tell me. You think they're happier in unnatural. situations when they are animals of instinct? If you do, you're deluded.
@@allisons1245 you're assuming theu are not fed properly, all you have is bold assumptions. I hate that mindset that nature and the wild is some kind of paradise, most likely this monkey would have ended in the stomach of a predator or died from some parasite... A human house is infinitely more confortable than the wild for many small species.
@@autisticmonkeyboi6820 They are not fed as they'd feed in the wild. They would constantly be foraging and eating the diet for their species. Instead, they're fed baby formula when this animal should be foraging. I have ZERO idea where you think anyone one who thinks wild animals that shouldn't be pets, think the wild is "paradise". Of course it isn't. It is filled with danger, that said, it's a life without constant training and correction, and once they're past a certain age, if HUMANS don't kills them, they usually survive. These monkeys in captivity end up thrown out, sold as meat or incredibly neurotic. They aren't kept for the duration of their lives, so they end up, if they're lucky enough to be thrown out to the mercy of a troupe that doesn't kill them, learning all the things they have to learn to survive with said troupe, quickly, or they are attacked, wounded or killed. That is the reality. That said, again, I have to stress, in human captivity, they are living in CAGES in a house or outside. You are using the term "comfortable" in and with limited human rationale that is avoiding following the equation our to the bitter end.
So adorable. I just love monkeys. So much that even though I'd love to have one I know it would not be best for the animal. They are wild and deserve to live wild and free. Put the animal first and your own wants, last.
The PYGMY Marmosets are absolutely PRECIOUS❣️ Especially the TINY (but oh so FLUFFY) ADORABLE ‘Black Marmoset’ at the END of the video❣️ Just a SWEETHEART❣️
I have wanted one of these adorable babies since I was 16 and our local pets store owner had two that he brought back and forth to work and home. I am 57 now and still think they are amazing 😍 the fact that they sound like birds is precious. I still dream of having a tiny family member.
it is really sick that they are not free and in the wild. This does not belong being locked up in a concrete house or room. They belong in the wild. This is so sick. sick sick sick sick sick
@@allisons1245 Probably died because she had "a marmoset": they are extremely social creatures that really need constant interaction with their mates/group. Any good zoo has a FAMILY GROUP of them, where you can watch them constantly playing with and grooming each other. Never have "a marmoset".

Them clinging to her hand / fingers is exactly what they would be doing in the wild clinging to moms stomach. They are just pissed their is no all you can eat milk bar on her hand.
My gosh - the are the cutest little critters I've ever seen! The little fluffy runt of the litter is the cutest but it needs something as it keeps mewing the most. I don't think it likes to be without touching distance of it's siblings, bless.🤗🥰
Completely agree. It's amazing how many people leaving comments have no concerns for their welfare. They are all exhibiting fear by wanting to cling to each other and parting them is cruel. THESE ARE SENTIENT CREATURES AND ARE NOT PLAYTHINGS PEOPLE! Horrible video.....
Какая прелесть,больше о этих чудесных созданий показывайте,очень интересно как они живут,чем питаются,будет всем полезно знать что есть такие прекрасные создания
I remember visiting the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, and they had an open tropical forest enclosure inside the entrance with a troop of these cuties, id never seen them before, and fell immediately in love. 🥰
I live in Brazil (sorry if my English is not perfect) and it's already been probably around 5 years that a marmoset monkey family comes to our house for food. We mostly give them bananas, but they also like papaya. Every year they come with new babies and sometimes we get very anxious when we can't see some of them anymore: did they die? Were they captured to be sold as pets? They weren't born to be pets, they deserve to live free and happy with their families. Very often people kill some of the older ones to be able to capture the babies. Only rescued animals unable to go back to nature should be raised by human beings.
Thanks for sharing. So adorable. I remember seeing one of these on Johnny Carson's show. It pee peed on his head. So funny to watch. He took it so well. The little creature seemed very comfortable just setting there. Johnny was so good with animals. Thanks again. I'd almost forgotten they existed.
They are the cutest monkeys. I'd love to have at least one, two would be better. That way they could keep each other company. I had a Capuchin monkey. He was so much fun !!!
Que Sont-ils devenuS depuis 2 ans ??? ABANDONNÉS ? Cela etaient UN JEU pour vous? Adorables êtres humains avec une sensibilité . CRUAUTE ! MERCI DE REPONDRE
Son hermosos solo espero que estén en un albergue de animales protegidos porque si están en alguna parte como mascotas me parece muy irresponsable la persona que los tiene pues ellos son una especie en vía de extinción si es así ojalá se los encauten
The babies are cute beyond belief ... but when I see (in the background from ca. 1:00 -1:30) the small, low cages he is keeping his breeding stock in I could cry. Please, be aware that the babies don´t stay babies: they become adults with teeth, territoriality, and a strong need for a social group. They need a room of their own and a good, specialized vet. Don´t be overcome by the cutness and make one of these darlings unhappy ... or dead.
