@@stanleyhape8427 - This is the UK... not a lot of "wilderness" there. Foxes live in built up neighborhoods. The people really tend to love these local foxes and often feed them in their back yards. There are entire generations of foxes that have grown up around people and are quite used to being handled and getting fed. Mama foxes will bring their kits to meet the people who feed them.

My luck it would be rabid and bite me. We had a stray cat come to our door at 4 am and was meowing loudly. It liked to be petted. So my wife picked it up. It went nuts and scratched her and bit her! She needed to get the rabies shots that day.

Wild animals generally don't have long and happy lives. Nature is incredibly tough and cruel and the older foxes get the worse they start to look. Especially ones in built up urban areas.

It is very much still in fashion, thanks to many celebrities, fashion mode in Milano, shops in Greece etc, I think they mean wildlife! But white artic foxes get skinned alive. Unless they're rabid or feeling threatened, foxes are actually gentle creatures that are naturally curious and playful. While they certainly can be dangerous pests (as literally every other animal also can be)-and if you have chickens, it's _your_ responsibility to make sure they're protected, not the fox's responsibility not to eat them-they do not deserve the animosity and bad reputation that have received.

I tried to see if it was uploaded on RU-vid, but I couldn’t find it, and I can’t remember the name of the exact show. It was from the lower resolution era, and might be a tough clip to find. Which sucks, cause the story was interesting, I tried to find it after seeing this clip actually, Sorry man 😞

Most of the foxes in London are friendly. You don't need to worry about this one or any of the others. They're as common as pigeons down there these days.

@James Cricket I don't think it's utter drivel. They pick up on cues. It is evolutionary. For instance an animal had to be good at sensing fear in another animal and knowing whether the animal wanted to do it harm, the ones better at doing that were more likely to survive, and were then able to pass on the trait and build it into the instinct of future generations, so it's probably an extension of that evolutionary process. Because dogs for instance will always tend to favour those who are actually dog lovers, they seem to sense it. Again it's nothing mystical, it's probably subtle cues we don't pick up on. I do however wonder if this fox is domesticated. Wild foxes just do not behave this way. They are seriously timid and shy. I'm guessing that is another trait they have needed to adopt for survival.

I think animals know instinctively who the humans are who love them. They have such powerful senses. When I first met my now adopted cat he immediately jumped onto my lap and buried his head into my arm. It was so touching and flattering!

No they don't. Animals react to humans based on their own previous experiences and ingrained evolutionary traits. A mistreated animal will always be wary of a human until trust is formed and a well socialised animal with only positive human interactions will be sociable and trusting around any human until something negative happens. Others will learn to read signals given by humans and adapt to it's reading of the situation. I visit a lot of homes in my work and love animals. Some pets will approach friendly and enthusiastically, some will hide, some are indifferent, others are territorial others are aggressive through nervousness. My own intentions are nothing to do with it.

Nope. All the foxes in London are like this and have been doing this for decades, yet their population continues to increase. It wasn't an escaped or abandoned pet, hand raised, or too gentle for the world. It was a wild city fox looking for food. They are all friendly, that's how they convince people to feed them. What likely happened is that it ran away and met back up with its pack and they found food elsewhere.
