just saw the power trio in carrboro, nc. we sang this with them. it was PERFECT show. and the band was so nice, they had as good of a time as we did. stayed and talked to them, got autographs etc. and i LOVE adrian's voice.
Me surpreendo com a voz dele e como ele conseguiu manter por tanto tempo. A maioria dos roqueiros perde a voz fácil pelos excessos e negligência e muitos dos meus preferidos estão decadentes, mas ele ainda é incrível.
Julie and Eric Slick straight out of The School of Rock program. They met Adrian when he did a guest professor seminar and performance with School of Rock All Stars. Adrian was so impressed by their playing that he asked them to join his solo band. Can you imagine a greater honor especially at such a young age?
My first time seeing this, & hearing their music for the first time. Not bad at all, but MAN, I miss Tony's harmony singing. They are coming to San Diego next month & am looking forward to catching them.
Of all the Crimson covers by various members/subgroups/whatever, ABPT doing ToaPP has got to be one of the best...arguably a better take than the original.
Saw them in little Piermont NY at the Turning Point, these kids are really amazing and Adrian well... just saw the new King Crimson while it was good, the energy just is not there without Mr Belew.
Bullshit. Why even make such a patently insipid statement. Adrian's trio is wonderful. So was the Crimson Septet when I saw them in NYC. Comparisons are like assholes--everybody has one.
Chip Stern Wow dude, too much coffee today? I have seen King Crimson 4 times with different line ups. So I prefer the older Belew, Levin, Bruford, Fripp line up.. big deal....freedom of choice!
I cut my teeth on the Belew-Fripp-Levin-Bruford ensemble. Loved it. And the subsequent Double Trio. The energy of King Crimson's NYC show on September 21 was...ASTONISHING, as was the level of musicianship and the quality of the arrangements. Best thing I've ever heard from Robert Fripp's various incarnations, and that's a mouthful. I think Robert had a tendency to happily hide in plain sight behind Adrian in their collaborative incarnation of Crimson--his presence as an instrumentalist/ guitarist, as well as conductor/arranger, was much more prominent in the new septet. Guess I'll have to cut down on my coffee, or simply agree to disagree. Peace, dude.
@loenakita Listen to "City of tiny lights" by Frank Zappa,& if you still believe Belew does'nt sing good, then i suppose yer intitled to YHO.IMHO stylisticly,MR. Belew is not only an absolutely fantastic, dynamic, breathtakeingly beautifull singer but also one of the most creative lyricists in "rock" music. To each his or her own. THANXS A LOT 4 the"UP" TheTjana REALY ENJOYED THIS !!!!!!!
It just seems to lack the flamboyance of young Adrian Belew in 78. AB has that great Parker Fly guitar which has a lot of possibility, yet I like the tones of his old Strat. Though I should say, not that I want to.
To be hones, I dislike album version of this song. But when I hear this or Belew acoustic solo version - I feel like some kind of lightning goes through me. I can't even name another song that has the same effect on me.
John Wetton, may he rest in peace, was just a generic Greg Lake, who was the weakest link in ELP. Mr. Belew, on the other hand, brought life and energy to Crimson. Pompousness does not equal greatness.
@ TheFearlessFreep - Instead of a failed attempt to diminish the value of my reply, you should have spent that energy on trying to educate me instead of burning in your hatred of one you consider less than yourself. Good job.
In the audience, guys outnumber girls at least 20 to 1. Rather says something about this music's appeal, doesn't it? Similar to the King Crimson fan base, it seems. .
Base player is amazing. plays that thing like a lead guitarist. Unfortunately however It doesn't work for this song. She seems to be 'swimming" along with Belew...(too many notes) She needs anchor the pocket . I got the same impression of their version of "Dinosaur" Sometimes less is more. Just an opinion though. She is 12 times the musician I could ever hope to be.
@@bigchunkybubbles Thanks to your comment I gave this another listen ten years later. You are absolutely right. I was listening for the "familiar" and didn't give enough credit to what was actually happening. I listened this time with Airpods. Only thing I have to say for myself is I must have been really drunk when I wrote this comment.
