It's a shame she wasn't able to continue with the series. Copyright laws and proprietary claims be damned, this was a brilliant concept that should have been allowed to run its course.
NetFlix totally hijacked this idea. Even the promo photo of her holding the umbrella. Jenna Ortega does a great job playing a grown up Wednesday Addams in their version of your intellectual property. Looks like you did it first. There is a movie based on a true story called "Flash of Genius". It's about how a single man won millions of dollars in a patent infringement law suit against the auto industry.
I've added her collection to my DVD collection of EVERY Addams Family appearance on film. I don't care what Copyrights say, as far as I am concerned she BELONGS in the archive.
It was the descendants of Charles Addams that presented her with a Cease-and-Desist Order... either stop making them, or they'd sue TF out of her... But I totally agree... She's a brilliant writer and actress... I personally think that they were pissed off that she has taken the 'Addams Franchise' in a direction someone else was thinking of doing and her take would be too much of a competition to what later became Wednesday on Netflix, which has paid them a FORTUNE to do it...
You know movie Producers, I mean take a look at how Disney has gone down the pan lately, they probably only sued anyway to recompensate themselves on the latest turgid garbage turned out by the woke Hollywood movie scene as it slowly crawls deeper and deeper into its own grave of mediocrity, Universal are not too bad I supposed, they do some decent horrors but money is tight these days and cohorts of Lawyers aint cheap. It looks like Deadpool 3 will be good though on the bright side.
These are incredible. Melissa does an impressive job recreating Wednesday as an adult. I was sad, as many were, when she got the cease and desist order. I hope these were an inspiration to the producers of Wednesday.
The way she handled the cat callers in the green truck... This series of shorts is BRILLIANT. Recommended to fans of The Addams Family, Wednesday, satirical, and/or dark humor.
I enjoy watching both iterations of Wednesday. Having said that, to me this rendition is like a good classic black and white movie. There are fewer sets, only a few practical special effects such as the attacking ponytail and zero explosions with a slow motion "walk away". These vignettes are carried by inspired concepts brought to life by top notch writing and acting. Very pure and visceral. I offer my mad love and a standing ovation. Bravo!
I think second only to that live action Mario series that was on RU-vid around 7-10 years ago. It got taken down, too, so Nintendo could shit out that god awful movie.
When I made the Wednesday Addams video that you see here, Melissa Hunter (Wednesday) had many videos (which I compiled here) was removed from RU-vid soon afterwards! Melissa also played as "Wolf Girl" that was a series on NBC. She is extremely talented. I give her websites in the comments as soon as I can find them to help her grow in popularity. You should see her video: "Dead Puppies" it is totally Melissa! And that boyfriend in chains? Was really her boyfriend. Hope that helps explain my reason to keep this wonderful series alive! Long Life Happiness and Funny stuff! ❤
Crazy that this amazing series ran into copyright issues so had to stop yet Star Wars fans can upload shit loads of films that they have made with no problems
I have read that Lucasfilm has an unusually tolerant approach to their fans. Sadly, most IP holders are more like Paramount re: Star Trek; throwing C&Ds around like confetti.
Thank You for putting these all together…. All short and sweet. It’s a shame that they made them pull the plug on these. Melissa Hunter is priceless as Wednesday Addams….🥰 ( as well as a genius for her creative writing ) Wish there were more….🙁
And the fact that she so closely resembles Carolyn Jones, the original Morticia, (Wednesday's mother), makes it seem to be a continuation of the original series.
@@topcat43truffles15 : Which made her perfect to play Wednesday, because a child often grows up to resemble parents and she resembles Carolyn's version of Morticia more than Lisa Loring ever did or does.
This series has such good writing: "Wolves can smell petulance ... and body glitter." It's as though the writers seanced Charles Addams into the 21st century.
I like his content alot and Wednesday on Netflix is ok but Melissa didn't own the character, MGM does. They should just let her do Wednesday again on her own terms here.
Wednesday Addams has been a character since Charles Addams created the cartoon in The New Yorker in 1938. Netflix didn't steal Wednesday from this RU-vidr.
I have to agree with Joe. Further more the Netflix series have little in common with this version of Wednesday. And to be honest, there are parts of the Netflix series that (to me) look more like they'd coloured another series with a Wednesday Addams theme, rather than a series that was made for the character Wednesday.
thank you! first time I've seen an old show brought into the present without ruining the base platform and characters. incredible job, awesome performers and funny as hell!
Can you imagine her and Christina Ricci doing a critique of Christina's interpretation of her portrayal? Wednesday: "Your approach to me was very close, but you weren’t threatening enough..." Ricci: "I had to work with the lines they gave me." Wednesday: "To really understand me, you should have taken that as a challenge...after all, threats only work when you leave a few bodies behind you on occasion... " Ricci: "But that's murder!" Wednesday: "Only if you get caught. I've done it several times..."
This is the only copy I have of this video. Of the 100k+ views of this stuff, I have watched it a tons of times. I just watched again today! This is realy good video. Please thank the woman that wrote this.
This is better than the Netflix series. This has that cheery, witty, dark, and sarcastic humor, whereas the Netflix version just has a serious tone to it.
I was so moved by the last Comment I got for this video, I watched it again and laughed so very much. This is such a work of art! The ideas and workmanship that went into this movie are so important to the development of a new character - Wednesday Addams. I am still amazed at the joy this video gives to me and people.
Make sure you LIKE and SUBSCRIBE. I pulled this video many years ago because it was said that it was going to be removed - watch and comment while we can.
@@lindafoxwood78 AWESOME! Wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any. They're not on Melissa's channel & finding the shorts is a little hit or miss depending on who has what. The Netflix trailer made me remember these shorts & I went looking for them. So glad you've got all of it put together! Many thanks!
I ADORED Adult Wednesday! Was sad when it couldnt continue. Its such a good concept that the execs should have worked with you to actually bring this to a mini series at least. You proved the concept had appeal.
Carolyn Jones - the original Morticia (This name is really Mortician minsus the N - ie, Morticia!) was a second cousin in my family tree! My family growing up to me was "The Addams Family". I lived in the woods most of my life until sundown when my mother would call out to me: "Time to come home!!!" Most of the time I was leaning the forest back before I was 6 years old.
I imagine that this has become quite popular with the release of Jenna Ortega's "Wednesday" which is also great, but they should employ whoever did this as a writer on the Jenna Ortega version..
not sure why this appeared on my 'what to watch list ' Adult ? Midweek and Addams . I grew up with the family :-) A lot of hard work went into this ! The script is awesome , dark , yes , funny , poigniant straight talk :-) Slick presentation .
The show Wednesday owes you BIG TIME! I've loved the Addams Family ever since I was a little girl so thank you for these👍 . P.S. Where can I find a dress like Wednesday's? It would be perfect for the world famous Whitby Goth Weekend (where we celebrate Dracula author Bram Stoker's birthday - & Dracula himself of course!).
1:10 not this Wednesday getting along with her dead grandma when the Netflix!Wednesday can't get along with her own mom. It's one of the things I'm sad they changed, cus to me Addams family is like ideal family to be part of :[
