Its by box office earnings. Not ACTUAL popularity cause lets face it, this list would have ALOT more classic films like the little mermaid n mulan. But based on box office, notice only the lion king was non computer generated. Even so tho movies like moana n coco would probably b there instead of all the sequels....thats when I started wondering about this list like dam whod they poll for this lol

Right? I watch it at least once a month if not more. But I think it wasnt in the top 10 grossing movies, because little kids weren't begging to go see it as they were with Frozen. My cousin is 7 and I tried to get her to watch Coco but she didn't even make it half way through: I think the plot is to complex for little brains to follow (day or the dead, land of the dead, land of the living, and what not.)

It had the potential to be a good sequel, but disney could've gone about the plot better. It open up more plot holes than it answered. Kudos to Frozen 2 for being the highest grossing, but the plot had nothing to do with its success. I think the only reason Frozen 2 was more successful is because it capitalized on the 1st Frozen's success. I did a presentation on the highest-grossing animated movies in America when I was a sophomore in high school (so 2013/2014), and they were 5. Finding Nemo, 4. Lion King, 3. Toy Story 3, 2. Frozen, 1. Shrek 2...yeah I was shocked that Shrek 2 was in that number 1, but Frozen had only been out a couple of months, it would soon pass it. as would MANY Disney movies from the 2010s...though I guess based on this list it'd still be in the top 5...so good on you Shrek!

This is why this list does not consider inflation. The best-selling animated films are Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (10th), One Hundred and One Dalmatians (12th) and The Lion King (20th).

10:08 At $986M without adjusting for inflation, you can safely assume the world knew it was a classic when it came out. That's comparable to today's superhero blockbusters. It's also the only pre-2000s movie on this list and it didn't have a successful predecessor to help support it. Finding Nemo is impressive for similar reasons.

Lion King was the best movie of all of Disney's franchise!! The story, the music, the characters, and the MORAL make it an amazing film! Frozen does have a nice moral, well voiced characters, an ok soundtrack, (besides Let It Go which is FIRE) and a meh story. What you can learn from me then is, I LOVE LION KING.

you shuld adjust the ticket prices from the earlier films to todays prices. snow white blew all these films the fuck away in number of tickets sold, as did most of the disney films from the 40s-60s, not to mention films like aladdin

@@mistymari Yeah I suggest you watch the movie again. Better yet I suggest you watch videos explaining why it failed, the whole plot and just how boring it is compared to first one. Literally like 30 percent of the movie was them just doing nothing. Anna with petty ass worrying about Elsa like Elsa was a weakling. “Oh, Elsa wait for me, we gotta do this together like the best sisters we are”. 🤣🤣🤣

@@lilliewilder2001 Nobody was. I’m gonna miss all of them, too. A lot of them became my favorite reactors like you mentioned. Tom, Tori, Eric and so much more. But they all left for a reason, and I don’t blame them. Some OG’s decided to stay. I’m gonna welcome all new reactors with open arms and give them a chance.

Frozon 2, Toy Story 3 and 4, Incredibles 2 and Finding Dory are all there becuase of thier prequels. We all watched them becuase of the prequel that was good.

First of all, it’s not called prequels. It’s the original. Frozen 2, etc is a sequel.

i know every single word to the lion king movie to this day. and i haven’t seen it in a couple years. that’s all childhood 😅 our VHS 📼 used to skip and shut down after “can’t wait to be king” because we’d rewind and replay it so much!
