Hey guys, it’s been a minute! We’ve been thinking a lot about the future or table monkeys and what we want to do with the club. One of the ideas in the works is creating a curriculum to take a beginner arm wrestler to an intermediate arm wrestler in the most efficient way possible. In this video we wanted to introduce a new concept to the arm wrestling community: the pyramid of pressures. Please test out this idea and give us your feedback on it!
We also have Table Monkeys T-shirts for sale which you can customize with your name on the back. You can get the T-shirts at this link below:
Also available are our EvW shirts. See the link below.

Check out the video, get a T-shirt, spread the word, and lets show Toronto the wonders of aggressively holding hands!!!

Identify the weakness and apply the right mechanics. Backpeessure with strong enough side pressure with breeze through most opponents. Develop a superior hand and take opponents through wrist and fingers.

Hello im from Iran and your videos really did help me ,I've been armwrestling for 4 month and I've been having outstanding progress. Only problem with your videos is you dont spar with eachother and show us exactly how you mean,I mean you show us how to do the technique but that is not actually how it will be applied in a real match. Thank you for your videos ❤❤

I’ve noticed different arm wrestlers call up pressure what other call back pressure. For these purposes it seems drag is back pressure, which is diagonally down and back. Rise is up pressure, which is diagonally up and back. Drag is lat/finger dominant and rise is bicep/wrist dominant. Is that somewhat accurate? Side to side - x axis, “up and down” - y axis, “forward and back” - z axis.

Love this modeling exercise. Can you help me understand why you guys chose the pyramid instead of mutually perpendicular x/y/z axis? It feels like a cleaner model to put the x axis as peg to peg like you have it, y as up pressure as you have it, and rotate Z so it runs along the line of your forearm. It seems to allow for cleaner anatomical correlations when translating to your hand as well.

But thinking about the combinations of pressures is certainly interesting. Im usually doing a defensive toproll of some kind because im training with some strong sidepressure hook pullers. Lets assign + and - for the direction in each pressure category. So pulling back, towards pinning side and up is +, the reverse is - . They attack me with: +peg to peg 50%, - pad to pad 30% and -up and down 20% . So i respond with : +pad to pad 50%, +up and down 30% and - peg to peg 20%. So they are coming to the side, forward while crashing down on me. I am pulling back, up(or maintaining hight) and pulling towards my pinpad(reverse sidepressure). Actually works out fairly well in this scenario. A next step would be to think about how i would have to respond of these pressures of my opponent changed to some % and if the model would still make sense.

So pad to pad refers to flat back pressure in the toproll, as well as a dragging hook here? But up/down is specifically only posting toproll?

What if you move back up and sideways with cupped pinky down pressure
@tablemonkeys5262
@tablemonkeys5262 Год назад
The idea is to identify the most significant pressure and then apply the correct counter. So let’s say the side pressure is the plane you feel is the strongest you should counter with Backpressure
@GangdamStyle20
@GangdamStyle20 Год назад
"What if you move back up and sideways with cupped pinky down pressure" and at the same time always keeping back pressure and he also supinates. I am telling you I know a guy who pulls like that. I feels extremly stange. He has been pulling Todd Hutchings on a side table like this. Todd was absolutely chanceless. Todd had a couple of beers in and many pulls before. But also the other guy had a supermatch before...

Very nice concept. I think its nice to think about this while ignoring the existence of hands first, so just sticks pulling at each other. Because some of this works without hands and some of it only really makes sense when we take hand into consideration. Pad to pad simply beats peg to peg because it creates a longer moment arm for the sidepressure. This is true even if there were no hands involved. Now with up and down this gets a little fuzzy. A The post only really beats a dragging toproll because of hand mechanics. Without hand, pad to pad would still beat pad to pad in this scenario because lats are stronger than elbow flexors. Now this is just one thought i had, it also becomes more interesting when we think about combinations of pressures, because there is usually never just one obviously. Its always all three to some degree. How would it play out if we gave each move a percentage of all these pressures? Something to think through. So i think conceptually it would make sense to first separate arm and hand mechanics or things get a bit fuzzy. There can be supinating or pronating up pressure for example etc. Lots to think about, but i like your analytical approach a lot!
@horsiemetaldetecting5975

eh i might have been talking some nonsense here, have to think all this through more first

why a pyramid model tho, what role does the shape play when its just a 3D-space
@tablemonkeys5262
@tablemonkeys5262 Год назад
If it was only peg to peg and pad to pad it would be a 2d model but because of the up/down it becomes 3d
