Thank you for such an informative lesson. I’m familiar with all these structures but I actually didn’t completely realise that you’d better choose the moment you could use them. My conversation with my American pen-friend is often a combination of formal, neutral and informal English. You’ve been a big help

I'm glad this has been useful for you Fred! I think we language teachers have made a mistake over the years - we often teach grammar points as if they are all equal, when actually some bits of grammar are used much more in certain situations than others. I hope chatting with your penfriend will give you a chance to practice these points! Best wishes Rupert 🙂

I have a request. All these advanced concepts look good and understandable when seen in isolation. However, in practice it is becoming difficult to choose the right approach with right rule in mind. Is that possible for you to take an article from a reputed magazine or a portion of story from a novel and analyse how these advanced concepts you teach are actually put into practice? Not the least, thanks for coming up with high quality content everytime. Really, look forward to your reply. Thanks again..!!!

Thanks for the comment. I completely agree with you - when I'm in a classroom, this is precisely what I do. Sadly, when I've tried this on RU-vid before, it's been watched by very few people. I will keep thinking about how to accomplish this in a way that proves popular on RU-vid too! Best wishes Rupert
