This video introduces the Distributed Active-Semi Active (DASA) actuation approach. The DASA actuator was invented by Alex S. Shafer at the University of Western Ontario under the supervision and direction of Associate Professor M.R. Kermani. The actuation systems is developed for low-cost, high-performance, human-safe robotics. To find patents and publications on DASA, you can visit: scholar.google....

This looks like a very fine piece in development. Could you please list the limitations of the system? Accuracy, repeatably, and resolution? At least your target goals? Also, do you have a 4,5, and 6 DOF system in the works? Even in concept? That low cost will make it of great interest to smaller companies, but even they will find it useless if it only has 3DOF.

hi, nice work..So what about the cost of those magnetorheological fluid clutches? Why didn't you count them too? Also could you please give some more information on their specs? Like what is the holding torque etc. Thanks.
