Great videos: I am using Simplify3D version 5.1.2. A lot of these settings can carry over from slicer to Slicer program. Simplify3D however, does not have Tree Supports. I am going to try these settings on just some white PLA I have. With a Revo High flow Hotend I get some pretty good results as layer lines are concerned with a 0.6mm Nozzle and .5 mm layer width. With a .4mm layer height. This is good enough for fast prototype printing. Now since I have a design done I want a little more fine detail. And I am looking into Silk PLA as an alternative to Airbrush Paining. I found ironing and number of perimeter shells help a lot. I use either 2 or 4 perimeters depending on the part. It would be nice if there was a way to iron the sides of a print. I only have the option to iron the Top layer so that does not help much on a round or roundish model.
@Darkwingdad

Simplify should have adaptive layer setting which will help on rounded areas

Do you think a fan upgrade could help with prints curling up? When I get a new color of filament I like to print this golf ball sized skull 100% solid (only 32 grams) because it just feels really good to have a little solid skull. I position the skull so the "face" of it is pointing upwards, so no support is needed. but after it's been printing the edges curl up after it's about 3/16" into the print. it's not a bed adhesion issue because the part of the model that's touching the plate is still connected just fine. I've also tried various rolls of PETG and PLA at all sorts of temperatures and printing speeds.

Fan upgrades & duct upgrades would definitely help esp with silk it needs rapid cooling

I would say don't use adaptive layer height. It results in banding in my silk prints where the layers are thinner vs thicker. The amount of shine is different between layer heights. Not so much an issue with regular PLA but I wouldn't use it on prints where a uniform finish matters.
@Darkwingdad
@Darkwingdad Месяц назад
I’ve had great luck with it, you just have to adjust the variance in the settings. My trick is setting the variable parameter lower so it can only get more defined on certain areas & not increase the height to cause the issues you seem to have.

Thanks bro, they don’t make music like that anymore! My son Zaidyn (he’s in some of my videos) I have his name tatted in the staind font & my other sons name I got in cold (year of the spider) font. There are some good up & coming bands (I prevail, bad omens, amity affliction, to name a few) but nothing will match 2001/2-2009 metal music!

so for cooling, letting my fan run at 100% for everything after the first layer is ok? Reducing fan speed was going to be my next trial/error thing to test to reduce stringing. are there any settings you would change if you were printing something that had various stop and start points where the whole model isnt connected or if you were printing multiple objects?
@Darkwingdad
@Darkwingdad 6 месяцев назад
Not needed, typically 90-100% with the right temp & retraction is all you need.

As it turns out, some of my filament, including this roll of silk, was sitting out. I just got a dryer and a vacuum bag kit. It's in the dryer now. @@Darkwingdad English is not my primary language, so my grammar could be better. So, I need to explain myself correctly. No hard feelings were taken at all. Also, it would be nice to have creality-printed 5 guides. Since they changed things a lot in the interface and added some things, I am still trying to figure out what they do. I am using Cura and Creality Print 5, and cPrint 5 cut my print time by 10-15% with some new things they added. (again, I have no idea what they do at all =) ). I find your vids just due to trying silk filament soon...
