Christina Fotopoulou, MD, Imperial College London, London, United Kingdom, discusses the significant advancements in personalized surgical care for gynecological cancers. Personalization in this field has become increasingly important, with recent years seeing the initiation of surgical trials that previously did not exist. These trials include studies on high-park and laparoscopic surgery, radiomics, and biomarkers, highlighting the potential for high-quality prospective randomized trials to better determine patient-specific surgical treatments. The integration of systemic treatment advances with tailored surgery improves overall patient care. Radiomics, a new method for prognosticating surgical and clinical outcomes, and minimally invasive surgery have optimized patient selection algorithms, bringing us closer to truly personalized surgical care. While there is still progress to be made, the strides taken so far mark a significant start in this crucial area. This interview took place at the ESMO Gynaecological Cancers Congress 2024 in Florence, Italy.
