Pacemakers have evolved throughout the years by becoming more compact and sophisticated. While traditional pacemakers have helped save countless lives, the wires can introduce problems such as infection. Now, a new, dual-chamber leadless pacemaker technology is giving patients with abnormally slow heart rhythm a safer option.
Watch now, as Cardiac Electrophysiologist Cyrus Hadadi, MD, tells ‪@fox5dc‬ these tiny leadless pacemakers-smaller than AAA batteries-are implanted directly into the heart with no wires, no chest incision, scar or bump. That means less risk and a faster recovery.

My doctor just told me yesterday that I need a pacemaker and like a year or two I was telling me about this option. He says I'm young and doesn't want to put the regular pacemaker in because of the leads and it wears out and when they take it out it can cause death so he suggested this but also nobody in Missouri has gotten one he said which makes me a little worried. I don't know which pacemaker I'll decide to do when it comes to that time but this is scary something that was just approved.

I think you should take the wired one. I have had pacemaker for 35 years. I think you dont want to guinea pig this kind of thing. I have played golf my entire life with wires inside the veins, I have even been growing up from being a newborn baby, with the wires cleverly placed to be able to stretch. I have never had an issue besides endocarditis, which did get dangerous because of the wires inside the heart. The most safe option is usually to place the pacemaker in the stomach on the outside of the muscles, and place the wires on the outside of the heart, to keep it away from the blood. This way you wont experience complications in case of blood infection. It is more convenient in the chest. Better if you do sports with a lot of physical contact. The stomach feels more intrusive, but when you get used to it, you will only notice in some extreme positions probably.

How exactly he is able to drive a wireless transmitter, use a smaller battery AND have more power available seems like an obvious over the top claim......... Wireless transmitters use a lot of power. Also, who wants a pacemaker that uses actual wireless signals for its core operation? Talk about being hackable..... Even the simple case of being in the presence of a signal jammer could intervene with your heart. It is easily possible to play golf with wires, even as you grow up. Never even heard of this problem before.
