A high quality presentation, I am sure big pharma would agree. But why would experts only speak about prescription opinions for urate lowering therapy? Surely some patients would benefit from over the counter urate lowering options, Quercetin and other flavonoids (XOI), Vit C. (uricosuric), Urine alkalization (renal excretion enhancement). Your advice seems more like a business model than a standard of care.

Reduce processed foods, refined sugars, refined carbs, excess salt, MSG, alcohol (esp beer and hard liquor), shellfish, sardine, anchovies, organ meats. Increase minimally processed whole, plant-based foods (esp veggies).

@Paul Smith Have them stand against a wall with heels against the wall. If they can't see their toes, they need to fast for a week.

Gout is very bad in my family. I have it, one brother for sure. Both of my sons. Very painful stuff. Bread and diuretics seem to bring mine on. I am a diabetic and have hypertension. Cherries, tart cherry pills and cherry juice do help. I take 4 tart cherry pills a day, 4 every 6 hours.

I recently had a gout attack. I was always reluctant to use allopurinol as a preventative because of hearing so many side effects. I feel okay when I take 100mg tablets. I was given the wrong dose by the pharmacy without knowing and took a 300mg tablet 2 days In a row. I started itching severely and developed a rash on my left shin. Should I stick with the low dosage of allopurinol and see if it helps me over time.....or not take it at all because of possible allergies to it at higher doses?

Is it the case that you can have a urate level of less than 5 but still have the deposits around your body as you continue taking allopurinol?

Why did evolution determine that urate oxidase wasn’t beneficial for humans?

The medic just has to read things aloud, and still ah, ah ah… very tiring. Why all the AH’s I wonder… is he just shy or does he know that much if it is in fact nonsense or at least not relevant?! Ignt be good story but all the AH’s makes it all not possible to listen to…
