My first gout attack was 28 years ago so I have studied gout extensively to find relief. My MD was not successful keeping the attacks away. My study and self treatment has been more successful than the MD but over the years the attacks have become more severe and longer duration. My treatment has been exercise and natural items such as ACV, lemons, turmeric, tart cherries celery and such. Tried avoiding foods with high purines such as red meats, shellfish, mushrooms and many others listed as bad for gout. My latest venture has been Keto - it is almost like a miracle. The pain and swelling are gone. Have not given up beer - just limited it to 1 night per week - no ill affects. My BMI was 26.7 - now at 25.9 and still coming down. Blood pressure had been ~145/68 - now 137/68 so all is going in the right direction. I am not and have not been on any meds for over 10 years. Have been eating those bad things such as red meat and others listed as NO for gout. My assessment is: SUGAR was the bad guy. Get rid of the sugar and many issues will be corrected.

So you're eating high amounts of red meat and shellfish now?

@@albieoval1657 Only a little fish. Much pork, bacon, beef, butter and many green veggies. Weight has dropped a couple more pounds. BP is consistently @ 120/70 now. No pain or swelling from gout or other ailments.

Yes u hit it on the mark! My gout attacks were getting more frequent n more severe over the yrs. None of the other dietary recommendations had any effect. Once I started eliminating/reducing sugar n processed foods, my gout attacks miraculously ceased. The excess dietary sugars, which is basically in everything, is metabolized into excess uric acid. Have been gout attack free for going on over 9 months now n counting, no meds either!

Excellent explanations and visuals. Really great work. Maybe (hopefully), one day your videos will get as much recognition as they deserve

I never had my gout checked out when I, a woman, developed it at age 22. It wasn't until I was having Morton's Neuromas examined in my late 50s that I was diagnosed with gout. Imagine my surprise (I thought it was a baby bunion and so babied my feet). Gout runs in my family, but like you mentioned, post menopausal. I've never been diagnosed with diabetes; however, my father was hypoglycemic and I had those symptoms from an early age, and now in my 60s, I am pre-diabetic. But the gout came at age 22.

In my research I found one study on dialysis patients who also had hyperuricemia. They did a blood draw before dialysis, then they gave the patients a dose of TYLENOL and the patients did their dialysis. After the dialysis they did another blood draw and they found that some of the patients uric acid went up 18%!! How many people take tylenol for pain and how many patients have an underline uric acid issue that's causing a low grade symptoms. So they take tylenol and the rollercoaster begins? No there was ONLY ONE study and at the end of the study they said "more studies needed. Ya think any more studies have been done since?? Now, how much money would be lost if it was widely known that tylenol could actually be causing gouty Authritis symptoms and the patients have no clue. It's so crazy how when something important is found no more studies followed and this could be a very serious issue for people with elevated Uric acid levels and this study pretty much showed in these patients anyway that tylenol elevated Uric acid levels in these patients. And this is all the more reason to do further studies. Sorry for my sarcasm but they don't get wealthy from the healthy. It's a shamed to have to say that but I have found it to be the truth. . I have nothing against any Dr. It's not the drs, it's the medical establishment . Here is the link to the study on paracetamol causing spurious increase in serum uric acid levels. I'll never take tylenol again. I didn't know that it turns into a toxic substances inside our bodies. I wouldn't take small doses of rat poison. So why do I wanna take tylenol. It's not that dam good of a pain reliever. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/464539/

As a non-medical person with finger nodules & affected elbow without the, uh, gouty bumps, I now have another realization of what other options (CPPD?) it may be prior to going to a doctor. Thank you. I believe I'll try a mostly vegetarian diet prior & see if it helps.

Gouty arthritis is joint disease highly dangerous. I have had bad experiences: painful in the big toe. I went to the emergency room. Diet restricted no red meat or alcohol.

My GPs and Consultants need to watch this video. To be candid they are useless. My Knee consultant can not even read a CT scan and diagnose CPPD. True my CPPD does not match any of your picture. Last March I had a left knee replacement in Lithuania. After consulting a English knee consultant the previous August. My left knee was still swollen and slightly warm in July. My Physiotherapist returned me to my GP who that evening referred me to an the Urgent treatment Center in my local hospital without seeing me. I was admitted with a CRP of 160 it should be 0-9. I was diagnosed straight with an infection in my left knee. The knee days later was aspirated and nothing found. Then days later my knee was washed out and again Microbiology found nothing. I was kept in on IV antibiotics for 12 days then discharged on oral antibiotics for 6 weeks. Went back for a consultation on the Tuesday the week before I had been walking without crutches Monday morning I could hardly get out of bed. Because I had a consultant appointment the Tuesday afternoon I hung in there. Saw the consultant and explained these antibiotics were not working as my CRP level was going up and down multiple times in the 8 weeks. My blood was tested again CRP level was 180, Admitted in to hospital, Following day the Head Orthopaedic consultant did his round and stated I did not have an infection in my knee and told his minions to find out what was wrong with me. Following day I was diagnosed with CPPD given Colchicine and discharged I now take 2 tablets of Colchicine twice a day. Colchicine dose which I am on is great at tidying up after a CPPD attack I was getting them weekly. Started eating large salads daily where I was eating them 4 times a week, My CPPD attacks have been very reduced.

Thank you so much for this video. I am a 49 yr old female, have had 3 kidney transplants (current TX since 2000), and have had increasing chronic joint paint for last 5 -10 years. Just had appt with Rheumatologist who ordered x-rays and findings showed "dense Chondrocalcinosis" in hips (although I do have pain in my wrists, shoulders, knees and ankles as well). I do have a question.... what dietary changes would you recommend to aid in the treatment? The Rheumatologist said they may increase my Cellcept...I will be scheduling appt with them in next weeks. Again, thank for your video, knowledge and dedication. :)

Hi I'm a 50 year old plumber, can wearing rubber Gloves at work which causes immensely sweaty hands for 12 to 14 hours a day coukd this be the cause of gout or artheritis? I'm having to deal with swollen and painful hands every day especially in the mornings including tennis elbow, my hands are under a lot of pressure tightening and untightening nuts etc plus I have stomach issues with severe cases of wind anything I'm eating lately doesn't seem to be agreeing with me and my Dr has told me I need to take lanzerperazol for the rest of my life? Why ? I'm not taking them they give me headaches any suggestions please? Does all this connect to gout/ Artheritis?

Any connection with the ingredient Taurine which is a seemingly harmless amino acid in most energy drinks(2000 mgs/16 oz)? I have personal experience with "knee" gout(CPPD) and have switched to brands that have very little or no Taurine. It's worked.

Interesting! Acc. to some papers taurine would actually lead to a decrease of uric acid in the blood!

Taurine pulls water, you will het dehydrated, if you don't drink double the normal, obviously is dose dependent.

Hi I really do not want to sound a hypochondriac but I also have a umbilical and hiatus hernia couod this effect the digestive system causing me severe nom stop wind, I had a colonoscopy less than a year ago and they removed several polyps. Oddly for the last 20 years I use to suffer with bad reflux (GERD)which seems to have disappeared? Could the acid be going else where in my body? Hence the bad wind and possible gout/artheritis? Any idea on the best treatment for.all this please

You might have developed barrett's esophagus which is when your esophagus builds resistance to the acid in your stomach. Can turn cancerous so you'd need a biopsy. Thanks
