Welcome to my Studio - In this video - and the next series of episodes - I will focus on how the visual artist looks at the world. It may seem that this does not need explanation but in truth the artist looks at the world in different ways to help them to process the complexity and arrive at a simple beginning. This is a technique like any other and the are tools and methods we use to trick the eyes to see the world in a simple fashion. These methods help the beginner as well as the mature artist.
Through the development of the painting "Morning unfolds at the Cafe" I show examples of the sorts of things an artist notes when looking at their subject - in particular shapes...We start by making note of the big shape and so relating smaller shapes becomes easier.
