Think its honestly the best 2 callenders iv seen. like if dans only costed 1 pound for each door that means his callender would have been about 25 30 quid and tbh thats toatly worth it for what was in his not to mention the size of the thing itself. think i remember the farm / elf thing witch was the first callender they did together was like 80 quid or something and most of thoes days had nothing but stickers and moldy looking tiny cake. think if dan or ashens ever quit youtube they should go into the advent creation buisness i mean they are clearly better at making them then the people who have made all the ones they have opened
@@DanielBohnen They didn't coordinate when making their calendars. The £1 rule was self-imposed by Dan for his own gifts, but Stuart wasn't working under that restriction.
Today shows where the entire budget for Ashens' calendar went, no telling how much those minis cost. couldn't afford to put good gifts in the rest so it was just tat from his storage XD A very justified win today.
Guessing from the first episode Dan had 25 days to fill at £1 each and not counting postage its £25 ignoring the work on the advent itself, Ashen's said "I have spent considerably more than you have!" and I think he said "at least double" so he estimates about £50 ignoring random tat that has no value or near no value (1 inch USB Cables) the vast majority of the budget could be the mini's annnnnnd yeah.....about what you guess at $50
Spoiler Blocker because apparently this is the top comment (sorry about that) I cannot believe, after all that, ashens actually won with his box of tat. Bravo
It also helps that he tapped into Dan’s quirks and still found him some items that most people would have considered tat but was absolutely adored by him. The classic saying is too true, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”
It's all about the strategy and Stuart was on top of his game. Dan's calendar being...arguably full of just as much albeit significantly larger tat also helped.Seriously half that stuff can be found at any garage sale.
And here we thought it would be a fight to the finish... So devious! 23 days of utter crap tat, and then an actual present. What a thoughtful bastard! Merry Christmas everyone!
This is the closest thing I have to a Christmas tradition at this point I hope that anyone else alone this holiday season finds some joy & happiness this Christmas Eve
Ashens and dan opening advent callenders is something i like to watch every chritsmass eve. i actuly save all the episodes to watch some years and binge them on the 24th. not a bad tradition tbh really nice way to bring the year to a close
Honestly Dan for sure deserves a point for the best looking advent calendar. It's not that it's massive and some of the days had comically small items compared to the windows. Obviously Dan had to also ship a lot if not all the items too so its obvs more then £1 a day but even so the bargains he got were surprising, Stuart's last advent gift for sure was amazing :D The only thing that wasn't tat.
Genuinely sweet and thoughtful gift from Ashens today. Those miniature are beautiful and the fallout board game is a banger. Can't truly believe that when this started and we saw the two calendars and it's all random too what days are up against each other that it would be this close and only just one by one point. Amazing!
A DVD player for one British money? 😮I remember when those things were $100+. In 30 years he'll open the calendar door and there'll be a whole Nintendo Switch in there or something.
when DVDs launched in Europe in February 1998, DVD players were anywhere from $500 to $800 and there were only a handful of models to choose from, and only 14 movies available on DVD. Already half a year later the prices were going down fast and the selection of movies exploded because they were busy reprinting old movies on DVD, along with all the new ones that came out
No joke i did once see a wii in a pound shop and yes the thing worked fine. well it didnt come with any controllers or cables and wasnt the pound shop you know but it was a shop where everything was a pound so still the same thing. i actuly was sorta expecting dan to have something like that in there cus you can find insane deals like that if you go to the right places
I love the fact that Ashens has so much random nonsense in his house that he can beat a man who spent a whole year scouring for items to fill a gigantic, custom painted advent calendar, with a dinky dollar store advent calendar filled with random stuff he's pulled out of his drawers. RIP Dan, though, I feel like he would enjoy the mug more, but also I think Dan just enjoys everything more than the average person, so maybe it's okay for the mug to go to Ashens. Also Ashen's gift today was so adorable and thoughtful, good on him.
The biggest issue with the DVD player is that is one of the tiny ones that you need the remote to use most of the functions because there's not enough buttons on it to access all of it's features. 🤷
That's actually an exceptionally thoughtful gift in day 24 of Stuart's calendar. Like, that could have been the only things in the calendar at all and he would win the whole thing.
Those minis looked amazing, hopefully that guy gets a lot more work. I don't have the board game but as a fallout and post apocalyptic genre fan i think those would make my Christmas too.
FYI, the figures themselves were totally made in Heroforge, I recognise some of the elements like Rebecca’s shoulder-strap. And based on what Ashens said about printing them out himself, my guess is he made the figures and then sent them off to this guy to paint. I mean, it’s a damn good paint job, those figures look great.
My god i think this is 2 of the best things iv ever seen come out of a advent callender. custom made figures for a awsome board game "based on a ok video game cough cough" and a godam dvd player. regardless of what imput it has thats got to be the best advent gift ever
(RIP Sticky man) On the twenty-fourth day of Christmas, Ashens gave to me: Really cool miniatures A stamp from outer space A stunt bathtub A...Daruma? AND HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA! Some awesome fucking music. One crummy mummy A rigged metal coin Old Brit magazine Four variants of COVID DVD and some toy cars The Doctor featuring Hitler A button form the sofa A load of old vinyl A puzzle and a sword boy The most movie ever "We're sinners! All of us!" Red Dwarf book of questions Infinity Gauntlet Keychain Retro videogame cards! A spork-based failed mascot Tiny eraser doggy Two tiny figures Some nostalgia and a piggy!
Our valiant red stickman finally receives the recognition he deserves. LONG LIVE LORD STICKYMAN! HOLDER OF CONFETTI AND COLLECTOR OF FLUFF! We bid you farewell and safe travels.
Another great year of advent was not expecting this one to be so close I thought ashens with his smaller Callander was going to massively lose but I forgot that big tat often comes in small weirdly cold boxes which beats cheaper tat in big boxes
To be honest i was rooting for Stuart to win, but i feel like Dam needs props for the sheer madness and effort that went into their giant advent calendar
I remember getting my first DVD player in 2001, after making sure I had a TV with RGB component inputs, so it was a point of pride for me to get my DVD player with component outputs. So seeing a player with composite RCA outputs is just amusing. But hey, at least it has stereo sound outputs...
Thanks for continuing this series guys, it gives me the feeling of being a kid again getting excited for Christmas each year. Merry Christmas everyone from down under! Haha. Hope you all have a wonderful day however you celebrate!
Stuart paid probably £30 each for the heroforge minis depending which type of plastic he went for plus the ridiculous shipping costs they charge plus the personalised painting (which is not at all cheap either). He payed more than that DVD player probably cost when it was new.
We going to have the post-advent video where they compare the entire contents of each calender? Athough with them being custom calenders this year, it'll be hard to compare like for like items :P
Heroforge sells a figure’s STL file for $8, then there’s cost for the resin, given Ashens said he printed them out himself, then there’s however much it cost him to get them custom painted. So you’re probably not far off, tbh.
I'm 5 days late for this episode. Nevertheless, no one can deny Ashen's custom figures for Dan and Rebecca are the best of the best things to come out of this Advent Calendar series. Also proves that Stuart is a thoughtful gift giver. Suddenly I'm reminded of that time Stuart gave Dan a cool DBZ Trunks Banpresto figure while Dan, who still thought they were in for the joke, gave Stuart a knockoff Transformer toy.
As a fallout fan, I have to say the sentence "Fallout board game" is confusing, as there are at least 5 different fallout board games, but the figurines do narrow it down to 3, those being "Fallout: The Board Game", Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and Fallout PnP. Goddamn, those are nice figurines, though. Hmm, the tiny size of the figurines does make me think more of F:TBG, though.......
The fucking Fallout Board Game is your favourite- do you know what, in the spirit of Christmas I'll let Dan enjoy his bad game in peace, merry Christmas.
On the last day of Christmas, dear Ashens gave to me: 1 haunted pig’s head 2 monster figures 3 squidgy objects 4 friction drive cars 1 dog eraser 2 signage stickers 3 tiny cables 4 froggy flippers 1 gauntlet keychain 2 disney figures 3 gooey creatures 4 rubber pom-poms 1 murder keychain 1 bear called butlins 1 sofa button 1 recursive puppet 4 party blowers 4 small maracas 1 yes or no coin 1 small daruma 1 bathtub racer 1.. skel.. mum.. my.. Hunchback John Cena Purple Link Nightmare Lebron James and a Fallout style figure of me
