Loving the 1x10 setup on my old giant trance, have to say the chain measurement method in this video is so much more clear than the v1 setup vid.

@@microSHIFTTECH This will be perfect time as a upgrade for next season. Because i just buought full Advent X drivertrain for my XC bike. Maybe a slight tweak for 10 speed casette as well? With closer ratio at smaller cogs: change: 11-13-15-18-21-24-28-34-40-48 to 11-13-15-17-20-23-27-34-40-48 or 11-12-14-17-20-24-28-34-40-48... or similar - sometime i miss 17T cog at current setup at my 622 wheels :D

Just purchased and installed advent x (was going to get super short but it wasn't in stock). Followed this video and everything was easy !! Pretty much everything was ready out of the box (slight limit screw adjustment) and that was it ! didn't even need to adjust cable tension, it just worked ! Loving how the shifter feels, very smooth action. The clutch sound is very unique i quite like it tbh. Bought the steel version cassette and it looks absolute boss ! very nice bit of machining Being able to pedal uphill's again is a revelation O_O Keep up the great work guys ! what you're doing is amazing !

I am curious if your brand new Sword gravel rear derailleur has these exact same improvements that your Version 2 AdventX derraileur has. I know Sword has some new features AdventX does not have, but which is better for serious off-road use? I definitely want to switch to your new Sword shift levers for my off-road bikepacking bike, but am not sure if one derailleur is better than the other.
@microSHIFTTECH

The Sword derailleur has a barrel adjuster and ADVENT X does not. Beyond that, Sword has nicer finish quality (Igus bushings, etc.).

Hi I have a advent x drivetrain, I tightened my clutch pretty tight and it felt awesome until it went very loose after a big hit, now I’m unable to tighten it and makes wierd sounds when moving the derailleur. Please help. Did the teeth were out ?

I have the version 1 and am not a fan of it at all! Is the cassette and shifter the same for the version 2? Has anyone here tried both versions and is there a big difference between them?

There's a bunch of info on our website, and we'll have a video breaking it down soon. Basically, V2 has better chain wrap, but it's a little more complicated than that.

It has the same clutch, but resists chain movement better because of the repositioned pulleys.

1. How many links did this chain have? 2. Which particular model of KMC was used?
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH Год назад
It's a KMC X10 chain and I would guess it started with 116 links.
@stratostear
@stratostear Год назад
@@microSHIFTTECH KMC X10e You need 136 links for a 11-48 cassette.
@elderwitch8632
@elderwitch8632 Год назад
@@stratostear The standard 10 speed chains length's are 114 and 116 link's I bought a 114 link on a full sus and it doesn't need shortening (DH bike 34T chain ring) Cutting it shorter will affect suspension because of the tension put between the chain and derailleur. I have ver 1 so there is some play before the clutch engages which i actually like because it leave's some slack in the chain even in 1st gear (48 tooth) which doesn't hinder movement as much in the linkage. The only *downside* is the smallest cog doesn't engage the clutch unless using suspenion travel so the chain is a bit baggy (Altho i used the b-screw to have a happy medium between jockey wheel and cassette spacing with chain tension).

Ok, I've been studying gearing as an owner of an AdventX, and i think i want an Advent8 like this: 11 14 18 22 27 34 43 54 79% 78% 82% 81% 79% 79% 80% ... 8 speed, 20% jumps, 500% range. This is what i want. I hate granularity that is so fine that I am always double shifting. Who can make this for me? 500% range is important as a minimum for hilly/mountainous areas. Cadence isn't so important for practical non fanatical bicyclists. I also have an 8 speed microshift derailleur, but i don't know the gearing. But i know the range is too limited.
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH 8 дней назад
You're mad! Theoretically I like it, but in reality it's going to be very difficult to get gaps that wide to shift smoothly.
@chadkline4268
@chadkline4268 7 дней назад
@@microSHIFTTECH no, I'm not angry 🙂 and I am very thankful for the added knowledge, and maybe others can learn from it. Actually, I am an aeronautical engineer, so I know little about bicycle engineering, but it peaks my curiosity 😀 I consider myself an average bicyclist. I dislike cars, and only travel on 2 wheels. So, I use a bicycle to travel 120-140 mi/day between cities sometimes, I carry groceries in a milk crate on a rear rack every few days, I must travel through trails in a forest often, and I ride from -5F to 95F. So, I am interested in practical use. I don't own anything made of Lycra or Spandex. And I travel up+down big mountains. So, I am often thinking of how to make bicycles simpler and more effective for practical use. I do think too much is done for a tiny percentage of fanatics, and 99% of bicyclists are not in that category. And I am finding more and more people are wanting to use bicycles for exercise and practical transportation. Cars are a big expense when one considers their total costs. I think MicroShift is a great business that is doing a great + important job, and I advertise them whenever it is proper to do so. I had a question once, and unlike other businesses, I was surprised with a fast and knowledgeable answer. I don't know what the loss to smooth shifting means exactly. I can imagine it, but I can't know how troublesome it would be in reality. Or if it may be corrected in some way by angled teeth on the cogs, or stronger springs in the derailleur, or a mechanism that prevents any change to shifting until something 'snaps' thus initiating a powerful+instant shift (like a pseudo shift that builds up tension which is then released as a powerful+quick shift, like a gun trigger). It's an interesting puzzle to ponder: bicycle gearing 👍 I wish you success. My point is I want more range, less granularity. Figure it out 🙂 that's what engineers are supposed to do: solve problems 😆

The pulley gap is much smaller when installing Ver.2. (6-7mm vs 15-17mm on original ADVENT X).
