Happy Near Year all - let's hope we all have a bit more freedom this year.
In this episode we visit Lake Hancock, Mulgan Rockhole and McPhersons Pillar - all within the Gibson Desert Nature Reserve.
We start off at Geraldton Bore - Once we are within the border of the reserve along the Gunbarrel Highway - We turn to the north.
There are no tracks here, so we must find the best way forward ourselves.
Once the dry lake is reached we head across to the Gary Highway - then drive the track to Mulgan Rockhole and McPhersons Pillar.
The reserve has recently undergone management changes and is now known as Pila Nature Reserve.
Note that we visited the reserve prior to the management changes.
Part 1 of 2; Enjoy!!
Any questions? Please ask in the comments.

Interesting country. I lived out at Giles weather station for a year, about 40 years ago. A mate and I did a trip out that way from Giles along the old Gunbarrel hwy to the community of Warburton, so I can relate to it very well. Didn't see much wildlife except for camels and the occasional dingo.

Been to Lake Handcock when full of water ,the tree's in the middle are under water and the camels where getting stuck in the mud. Came in from the David Carnigie hwy at the end of the airstrip.

Not to visit the reserve per se, but to enter the Ngaanyatjarra lands a permit is required. It is also considerate to inform any Aboriginal Corporations that may hold native title over the lands.
