That's because the word DIE is a metal word, which the Wolf Man is weak to. Not only does the weakness increase the damage, but the Hand of Hercules' bonus for metal words stacks multiplicatively with the weakness bonus, resulting in crazy damage.
I just randomly thought of this game and I just can't thank you enough for posting a speedrun video of this. Brought back childhood memories of playing this game's trial version.
@@trevabc2405 this is impressive, is there any rng or does one play though set up the words u use. Or do you have to think quickly of words, either way it’s impressive
Have not played it in years but it suddenly jumped into my mind really appriciate people still play it and even do speedruns. I used to suck at building words but your speed man incredible
Me when I was 10: I'm too weak! Me after 8 years: *UNLIMITED POWER!* Man, that was such a long time since I played this game. I recently got this game again and I'm KILLING IT. On my 2nd (also current) playthrough, I challenged myself to spell not less than 7 letter words and not use potions. Of course before I got the SCRAMBLE button I spelled what had to be done. Finished map 1 with an average word length of 7.31
Я даже не мог подумать что на эту игру есть спидран, причем очень неплохой. Автор настоящий словарный терминатор) спасибо за спидран, как никак у меня тоже игра детства) (будучи владея чужим языком проходить эту игру в разы веселее :D )
I do some the speed thing but I only did it with 3 - 5 words but this guy did more then 3 - 5 words. Not to mention that you need to look at the letters you need for the word and we know how long that will take us to get a big word.
The easiest (not crazy expensive) way to get the game now is probably to use the link on speedrun.com/bookworm_adventures in the resources tab. Keep in mind it's a "download-at-your-own-risk" type of deal, but in the year I've been a mod for the community, I haven't heard of any instances of malware other than your computer issuing you a warning. :)
Hey quit question!! Where did you manage to get your hands on this game and in such decent quality? I'm looking to revisit it :) Also your vocabulary is ASTONISHING
Man I'm so lucky I have this game, and in spanish! Lex sounds so much more energetic in his responses let me tell you :P *But the real question is if it's faster than the english version?*
We don't quite know for sure actually. The non-English versions of the game are very very broken, but none of the runners are proficient enough in any of the alternate languages (German, French, or Spanish) to exploit them effectively. German and French have some stupidly powerful extensions to words, which could mean that these versions are better for speedrunning if you're good enough at those languages.
I played this Game like almost majority of my childhood thats why this game is always gonna mean so nostalgic to me and others but Just asking. Why Are you constantly leaving the screen and going back?
It's called a Menu Skip and is the single biggest timesave in the run other than playing well. If you quit out to the menu and re-enter the chapter before any dialogue or cutscenes, it skips them entirely - this means all boss intro cutscenes, treasure animations, chapter select story dialogue, and some stuff mid-chapter can all be skipped. It saves over 5 minutes throughout the course of the run, probably even more, I forget the exact amount :)
do you have a mod for quickly skipping the unskippable cutscene? or skipping the overkill animation? ( vanquished , destroyed , etc ) great gameplay / speedrun btw
this is all vanilla, menu skipping is done by quitting to menu after the gravestone appears but before the cutscene starts, and the overkill animation can be disabled in options
TL;DR everything is random except for like 4 words. The first chapter forces you to spell PLAY, and JAUNTED is always my second word (it appears consistently). The second chapter's starting rack is set as well, my preference is always PANZERS into FUSTIAN (saving a Y to hopefully one-shot the super tanky third enemy). 1-4 forces you to scramble and 2-4 also usually attempts to give you the riddle answers but other than that everything is random :)
Yep! I menu skip to skip boss intro animations, almost all dialogue, treasure cutscenes, and post-chapter map dialogue. It saves a TON of time over the course of the run.
I bought the game years ago on Steam, but PopCap basically took all downloads everywhere down. @@sadd_st4323 of finding words fast? i just look for a lot of the stuff i've trained myself to find. words that end in ATE (aviate, obviate, bloviate, mediate, moderate, modulate, venerate, etc.) are very common and easy to see for me. making adjectives longer using IER or IEST (happiest) can get you 8- or 9- letter words pretty consistently if you practice. i have a couple other tactics but those are some big ones :)
