Join this intrepid group of Perth based Adventure Riders as they embark on an across Australia adventure thru the heartland of the Outback on their quest to rediscover the natural beauty of Central Australia including Uluru, Kings Canyon, the Tanami Desert and finally culminating in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia with Gibb River Road being the highlight.
In this Episode, the group continue heading further Outback into the Bad Lands of the Northern Territory. Resupply becomes more and more difficult with no gaurentee of coming out at the other end in one piece. They commence their journey on the Tanami Track with the hope that the Desert doesn't consume them and leave them as nothing more than bleached bones in the Desert.

My wife and I travelled the Tanami in 1985 in our Troopy. The corrugations were so severe the troopy struggled to maintain speed. We camped one night on the top of the granites to get away from the spinifex. What a glorious dawn we had from up there (no mine then). Rabbit Flat was open, run by a French family. We bought diesel and a t-shirt emblazoned ‘Rabbit Flat Australia’s most remote roadhouse’. Loving your videos.

So nice to see all the Places i rode on my pushy.... Tanami was one of my favorite tracks Rabbit flats closed the year i rode through and i had to carry 40L of water to get me to Yuendemu , I stopped in at the Mine to ask about topping up water and they were super nice even let me use the shower at the Guard house , I left my titanium coffee mug in the bathroom and left to Alice thought it was lost forever , i met a bunch of Moto riders heading north to do the CSR asked them to stop in and see if my mug was there...... a day later a 4x4 pulled up with MUG in hand ...things you will never forget in the outback Great times ...Thanks Steve for the memories!!!

Hey Steve, I did Yuendumu to Wolf Creek on one tank of petrol on a 2016 GSA in 2018. 633k's. Yeah! I was going pretty slow because of the corrugations. Spent the night at Renahan's Bore, the loneliest I've felt in my life. Emptied the Rotopax into the tank at Wolf Creek. The road into Wolf Creek was way worse than the Tanami. If you find a white rotopax (water) between Wolf Creek and Halls Creek have a drink of water on me!!!

When I was doing tours out of the Alice in 78 - 79 the only black stuff (outside of a few communities) was the Stuart as far south as Kulgera, then it was rough as guts dirt/sand with a few sections of razor sharp stone to give your tyres a hard time down to Pymba. Most roads in the Territory were dirt and the road you showed, which you described as a connection between two bigger roads, were indicative of the Northern Territory roads including the road out to Ayres Rock which were narrow, windy in many places, corrugated and with bulldust here and there. There weren't any caravans on these roads but the ones that tried the trip were left off the side of the road as totally destroyed carcasses.

Second time in 2010 towing a caravan from Top Springs south through Kalkarindji and Lajamanu popping out onto the Tanami at the gold mine. We turned left and went to Alice Springs. Looking forward to perhaps learning a bit about Rabbit Flats. One of those mystical places I'd heard about when in The Alice circa 1986/87; before returning to Darwin then 'absconding' to NZ for a couple of years (20). Steve I have a picture of my footprint smack in the middle of a camel footprint. I'd pulled up in 'roadside small shade' (shrub) and just plonked my foot down to get out when I noticed the golden photo opportunity. Almost didn't see it. Yep those corrugations look similar to the ones from Glen Helen to Kings Station/Canyon circa 2018. 🙃🙂🤠

That level of desolation probably has to be experienced to be understood. Here in the States, there's hardly anyplace down in the lower 48 where you could go 90 miles without a fuel station, and it would be work to find a non-pavement way of getting from A to B. Silly question - how often do you replace the oil in the rear drive and in the transmission? Just trying to get a handle on maintenance.

On my model (2016 R1200GSA) the final drive is done every 20,000km/12,000 miles. This bike has a wet clutch and doesn’t have a filler plug for the gearbox. That oil is changed every 10,000km or 6,000 miles.
