In today's episode of Adventures in Worldbuilding we are working on the history of the world and making a timeline that is realistic and shapes the world around the characters. I had a lot of fun with this and even though it is on the shorter side, I hope y'all enjoy!
Thank you so much for watching!

Loved this! I made a similar spreadsheet, but I did have separate columns for some of my character's experiences. I haven't got a key timeline landmark like the reconstruction to get dates from. At the moment everything is just labelled in minus numbers, where 0 = beginning of the book. So if it happen 20 years before the start of the book, I'm calling the year -20 for now. Won't use those numbers in the book of course, but just to keep things in order!

I ALWAYS admire your ability to plot/plan your stories beforehand. I could tell everyone that this is good looking out for your novel going forward. Like if you get lost and you're not sure where to go or what to do, then you can always consult your outline and research and it'll all be there, leaving you without all the guesswork of what to do next. (Because you've already put in the work first). Sadly, I'm a 'Pantser' and I think this is a natural part of my skillset so I wouldn't even know where to BEGIN to do what I'll call the 'pre-work' to creating a novel. I'll just want to jump in there (like jumping into a lake WITHOUT a lifepreserver) and have NOTHING to save me if things turn south. With your way, you won't have to worry about that, because the lifepreserver is already in place. So good on YOU! (Great video as always). ☺👍🙌😊

Thank you so much for your comment! Pantsing is still totally valid and if that works for you, more power to you! I love that so many different writers have different methods and strategies for creating a story :)
